He was mostly on the backfoot and that's the last thing you should do against wrestlers. fun high level fight anyway.
yeah, he should have gone in there exactly like he did against dariush, overwhelming him with big punches and high kicks that break right through the guard. it was so annoying watching that fight, knowing he had the tools to win it, he just didn't use them for whatever reason.

Crazy how active Alex has been. That fight he lost to Izzy was almost exactly a year ago. Since getting flatline KO’ed he moved up to 205, beat Jan to get a shot at the belt, beat Jiri to get the belt and now beat Hill to defend the belt. Now he wants to fight again at 301.

To be completely fair with Charles he did perform good. Won round one and had a good triangle in the 2nd and was gaining momentum in the third when it ended. If we had 3 5 min rounds when Royce Gracie fought Dan Severn, Dan would’ve won and maybe we would’ve thought that Royce wasn’t as good. If Silva vs Sonnen was a 3 round fight we’d probably have seen Sonnen win and again be like “these wrestlers are just really good”. What I’m trying to say is that, yes, Arman won due to judging criteria, but I don’t think he was the better fighter, unlike a guy like Islam who, as a grappler, has great submission offense and defense, and great transitions as well

he forgot his striking. he has some of the most dangerous striking in the ufc but for whatever reason wasn't throwing any of those big punches and high kicks he was throwing against dariush. it was so frustrating.
I think that weight cut was more brutal than he would admit. He looked tired and almost fatigued like he just had a few sparring sessions before the fight.

Charles has blasted Gaethje, and Poirier, and Chandler while just trading with them all of them 10x the strikers that Arman is. Here Charles had nothing. I think he came back too early from his injury. An achilles tendon tear is usually a 12 month recovery and he returned after 10. It didn't help he was against Pereira either.

The D'arce at the end wasnt locked in very good. In order to finish off a D'arce or anaconda choke you need enough leverage to execute it, usually from hooking a leg. Atleast if it is being done against a professional conditioned fighter. Arman flattened himself out so that charles couldn't hook his legs, So I guess Charles just decided it was better to keep the position than to release

I love Charles' fights and I completely agree with you, he had Arman in bad positions multiple times, he should have been more aggressive. I was pretty sure even before the fight that if it goes to a decision it will go to Arman based on gnp and control time, only way Charles wins is by finishing it and he for some reason showed no urgency on the feet.
Is sad that Charles have so horrible coachs, in the fight, ALL the time, Diego Lima was talking about " stoping" arman, they destroy Charles chances to win

It was disappointing when Alex was asked in the post fight conference if he wanted to fight Aspinal. He should have said yes. He already beat former LHW champs Jan and Hill. It is a better risk to lose against Aspinal with HW title on the line rather than lose his LHW title against Ankalaev. If loses to Aspinal he still has his LHW belt. Imagine Alex winning against Aspinal The offer is still fresh. I hope he markets it before the Brazil event

I think after these 2 or 3 fights then Alex should think about moving up division, because while he has destroyed a lot of the top contenders he still hasn’t fully cleared his division.
Imo Ankalaev is the biggest test for Alex at LHW. Hes the best grappler in that division and I always thought Alex would have to worry about him most. That being said, if Alex does beat him, then Aspinall, that would shoot him up to the GOAT. Immediately. Above Jones, above Silva, above GSP. It would be the greatest moment in MMA history.
12:20 you called it. Charles when facing good wrestler his striking, which is hisnbest weapon becomes tentative and non existent. He's at his best when walking down ans not letting up, going all out to overwhelm his opponents, even risking being knocked out himsekf, but against wrestlers his all fighting scares of the take down and loses his main weapon.

Max broke Justin's nose with a lucky spin kick that was meant to be a body kick...thereby forcing Justin to breathe with mouth open for the rest of the fight. That ko punch wouldn't have flatlined him if his mouth wasn't open. Max's punches did little damage over the course of the fight. He fought from distance and broke off and ran away almost every time Justin threw punches and tried to walk him down. Bottom line: Max's won because of the lucky spin kick that broke Justin's nose. He still has pillow hands.
I really dont understand your reasoning regarding the arman fight. Its not about 'mentality'. Charles cant be as reckless as he was againt dustin/justin/chandler as we saw from makhachev fight. IF he gets caught by these guys there is no 'I will wait down here since youre too coward to come down'. Islam showed that a rocked charles is no match for him so obv charles was always gonna come into this fight alot more hesitant. Sorry to say it by Charlie aint equiped to hang with these sambo/wrestlers. Theyre too well rounded. All i can see is fluke submision atempt for charles to win.
Arman hasn’t subbed anyone of credibility on the ground, and never got close. Oliveira feared his takedowns too much, he respected Arman’s ground game too much. Arman takes people down and controls them, but he’s actually quite unlikely to finish them
@@DarthVaderOfficial It isnt about the finishes arman has. His style of wrestling is simply too much for oliviera. Oliveira will never be submitted while completely fresh. If he gets rocked, arman will 100% finish either ground and pound or sub Arman chose to only controll just like islam for a reason, close fight on the feet and controll time will give you the round. I simplydont know if charles can confidently bea this kind of fighting, hes seemingly unable to escape from bottom
