In the 1960's, Nintendo was in serious debts when their President noticed a toy their janitor had created out of boredom. That toy ended up saving Nintendo.

Man, to think Nintendo wouldn't be what we know today without the help from the Yakuza.
And I think they're still paying the Yakuza up until now
Why do you think their DMCA lawyers are so active?
I believe most business there to these day in one way or another pays to yakuza. you know like the infamous "protection fee" and stuff.
dame da ne
If I’m remembering right the Yakuza started as a group of aggressive merchants. They kept business running and often running in their direction. Unlike many Crime Organizations Yakuza are first and foremost business men, not thugs. Breaking people is an important secondary tactic. It’s because of that they are as open as they are in Japanese public, most of the time no one has anything on them because of how they do things.

Nintendo does NOT mean “leave luck to heaven” in Japanese, this is a myth.
