    • @Tex Meccs That's the old-fashioned way. We live in a new era now. You don't need to say any of this in public. He threw in the towel and threw his child under the bus at the same time. He just needed to say that I saw something I didn't like and that Sean and I would discuss in private. Kenny Porter wants to be front and centre and not let Sean be his own guy. "When you're a top-flight boxer, you feel you don't need instruction." Kenny wasn't supposed to do any of this in public.

  • I know he’s the dad and as a dad u should be honest with your son no matter the situation. But to just embarrass and throw him under the bus on live tv ain’t cool. He should of done that at home or something. Yes honest is the best policy but how would u feel if ur dad just shame you on front of your supporters, friends and family because u lost to a great champion. Yes he probably needed to train better and harder coming into the fight but even if he did train hard and listened to his dad it’s not guaranteed he was defo gonna win

  • When K. Porter did not study T. Crawford video, he did not prepare his son properly. Bomac was surprised by that; a skilled opponent must be studied with great caution; K. Porter failed in that, but I am sure both Shawn & Kenny Porter knew what they were up against. Shawn Porter was prepared, he just could not beat the best p4p boxer in the welterweight division and there is no shame in that. Kenny Porter got booed. Does that make him a bad trainer or an inconsiderate father? No! Kenny Porter stopped the fight, because he loves his son and he stopped the fight to protect his son from further damage. it was a good decision. Cheers’👍👊🏽✋🏼

  • I think Kenny could have let it go a little longer, the stoppage was probably going to happen any way but porter was coherent and he is a durable guy who wasn’t taking a terrible beating. I can’t blame a dad for protecting his son though. I do think his comments should have been just between him and his son though.

  • The most notable thing here is that Shawn respects his father and his decision to stop the fight, and he did not get puffy when his dad expressed regret that he didn't train the way he expected him to. I believe Shawn was ready to retire regardless because he just didn't have that edge anymore, and it was such a big risk to fight an extraordinary boxer like Crawford as his last fight.
