title: Game Dev Tycoon WITHOUT MAKING GAMES Is Overpowered - Perfectly Balanced Game With No Exploits
#game #games #tycoon
"Now, there's a chance this backfires and we lose some fans, but don't worry. We've got a lot of fans to spare." - every modern game developer.
i was reading this comment right when spiff said that
No, it's Blizzard Activision specifically
Bruh
Naw, some Indie Devs care. Look at Stardew Valley for example! But most are trash. Espe ially the big studios.
@@jito7377 not true, stardew has done that multiple times ironically and has had issues in the fanbase in it's early years
The depressing thing is that this is happening in real life. 🙃
Congrats. You got the punchline
@@BatFan_AtticAnd it's perfectly balanced. 🙃
ok
This isn't a exploit.. its a EA simulator.
@@matsv201And that scares me. 🙃
Spiff has broken the fourth wall with this one. If EA or Rockstar see this they’ll sue him for defamation of their business models…
More like copyright infringement of their business model.
It's more take-two than rockstar games
It can’t be defamation if it’s true
You mean "definition".
Ea especially Step 1 buy smaller buissness Step 2 force smaller buissness employees to make a game on heavy time constraint Step 3 shut down smaller buissness because it costs money to keep open Step 4 repeat steps 1-3 Profit!
Spiff "accidently" told the world about every AAA publisher out there. Well done!
hi
Intern: Our games have stopped selling. What next? Gazza: Bundle and resell them. Intern: the bundles have stopped selling. Gazza: Bundle the bundles!
'Valid business strategy"
I unfortunately feel like this would work though???
@@Eisofice this is already done and has been done for a long time.
That’s basically how 2008 crisis happened, but with mortgages.
@@Eisofice It's not always bad. Like when a franchise is bundled onto one disc or something like that, with all the DLC and game of the year editions and stuff like that. Those days are kind of over, but back when physical media was pretty much the only option for consoles it was very common. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus got bundled together, God of War, Kingdom Hearts. That sorta things. As long as the price isn't absurd. I was very happy to pick up the Shadow of the Colossus and ICO bundle for $30 on my PS3 back in the day.
Poor poor Mintendo. Didn't even know what hit them. Perfectly balanced as always! Leave us have our exploits Nintendo.
dont feel pity for nintendo!!
@@LavaCreeperPeople he is pitying mintendo
nintendon't
F. For Nintendo, as in F Nintendo
Imagine if Nintendo commented on this video
I like how the theme of the video is Gazza is a villain for buying IPs and republishing them, but in reality, Gazza is doing a public service in preservation.
I can hear Spiffs marketing. 4X the map size! 16X the detail!
You see that planet in the distance? That's not just a backdrop. You can fly there too.
@@robertwildschwein7207 is the planet anything other than a barren wasteland that you can’t completely explore or?
@@djweavergamesmaster What lets you think such ridiculous things?
"We are going to steal other people's games and scam the world" Ah, so you are running the EA games strategy.
lol
*glances nervously at Electric Arts in the in-game lineup of game companies* 🤣
EA or Tencent it's kinda the same thing anyway
How to get EA games, the correct way: pirate them. Just pirate them.
Wait that's kinda the EA strat
Spiff: I will play game this as it never was intend. Also Spiff: Acts like EVERY single game publisher out there.
Today I learned the difference between game publishers and exploiters.
"as it never was intend" okay
@@AdminAbuse tbf the game wants you to MAKE games not publish them
@@AdminAbuse oh boohoo a grammar error
@@AdminAbuse Cry more
I have never in my life seen a more accurate representation of modern day game studios
Might as well call it "Microsoft simulator"
In this video, The Spiffing Brit combined the cultures of Blizzard, Bethesda and Electronic Arts into one giant "video-game company". Lovely stuff.
honestly props to this game, being able to be just a publisher is pretty accurate, I woud love it if you could just be a "localizer" like Atlus often is
Wdym? Like just with Atlus West (previously Atlus USA) right? Cus Atlus proper in Japan in both a dev and a publisher
Exactly, this wasn't a game exploit, this was just real world exploit.
Nearly all publishers currently in existence started out as developers and gradually went into publishing. It's quite hard for a brand new unknown company to pop in and become a publisher, or at least to be enough of a success to be around for very long
this is the actuall reason why valve doesn't make games anymore btw.
yeah but they don't make games anymore especially after discovering this infinite money glitch, which is why valve doesn't make games anymore or rarely@@thesteelrodent1796
Little does Spiff know that EA's wet team is on it's way to kick his door in and double tap him for revealing corporate secrets.
Or try to recruit him
Except, he does know that and is waiting for them.
Secrets? What secrets? There are no secrets here.
@@2headedskull But they'd like to pretend their secrets are safe, and Spiff is ruining their little roleplay.
its*
When you slowly realize this is a lesson in how companies actually work and squeeze money out of existing IPs....
Ah, yes, finally a modern videogame market documentary
every video makes me grateful spiff decided to take the KZhead route instead of going private and taking over the planet with his supernatural exploit powers
And that's what Spiff wants you to believe.
Let's be honest here it couldn't be any worse than it is right now
@@Dovah_Slayer oh... you sweet, sweet summer child... xD
@@Zukoiu nah mate we've definitely peaked on this mountain of shit
@@Zukoiu Think about it this way: if there was a more messed up way of earning more money, someone would've done it. Evil people don't just sit and twiddle their thumbs while there's an opportunity for profit.
This doesn't really seem like an exploit, it seems like real life.
it's literally how EA, Microsoft, and Gearbox operates these days. They're so desperate to get games for their exclusive platform that they keep buying other companies to get their IPs, because negotiating for cooperation deals is too much work
The rich ARE exploiting real life duh
3E: Embrace, Extend, Extinguish
A mix of Paradox, EA and Bethesda, the perfectly balanced game publisher.
Nope just valve
Spiff here pulling the "I am become Valve, maker of profits."
My good sir, I congratulate you for helping game developers find bugs and fix them immediately! You are a truly great exploiter!☕️🗿
ok😊
Ain’t no *BUG!!!*
Not even a bug, its a realistic viewpoint about these kinds of games
it's a feature
there wasn't a single bug in the video, this is how publishers work
"Slap a lick of paint and sell it again" [Overwatch cover] Perfect Spiff. 😂
Spiff really just made unethical humble bundle with a touch of the 2k sports games
“He’s not a game developer, but he’s a good con artist” Me: oh look it’s every game company executive
For a minute I thought a proper Sequel to Game Dev Tycoon came out. Although upon literally waiting 30 seconds into the vid, it does seem fairly proper.
Honestly the game is a worthy advancement on game Dev Tycoon. Well worth a play
@@thespiffingbrit Thanks for the recommendation Spiff 🫡👍
Me too. Shitty move of Spiff to use another game's title to promote this.
@@WIllTheMackem apologies for my decision
I've played both Mad Games Tycoon games, and would describe them as immersive tycoons, because the joy for me comes mostly out of living out the fantasy of your own game studio, publisher, console developer etc. (arcades as well in this one). It is much much deeper than GameDevTycoon.
Man really called the game "Game Dev Tycoon"
I mean it is a game Dev Tycoon game. What SEO value is there in mad games tycoon 2
@@thespiffingbrit Eggcode SEO gone be in the gutter 🤣
@@thespiffingbrit "Not Developing a single video game in Mad Games Tycoon 2*. At the very least, once the video starts to peter out of relevance, change the name for the *real* developer's sake? Edit: changed "Game" to "video" because that is what I originally intended with that comment.
@@thespiffingbrit KZhead is a perfectly balanced game with no exploits
@@thespiffingbrit I mean, if you're using the name of a different game to get more people to click on the video, isn't that inherently deceptive?
Spiff is trying to become the next CEO of Bethesda. 👍
Once he takes over Bethesda, he will unleash Reanu Keeves upon the world.
Microsoft devs POV:
Spiff may have never intended to play this game the way it was, but he surely did what an actual game publisher does IRL.
I'm pretty sure this is what Nintendo wants to do because of how much they really love when people buy their games but also really hate people that play their games
This is actually perfectly balanced EA Sports approves
I believe this video was made like 3 and a half year's ago, and Britt didn't want to be blamed for our current real life situation
Now bundle the videos
Revenge is best served by breaking a game to buy a fake copy of a real game company that deleted his video to only own it and destroy it.
I think it speaks a lot to the maturing of the devs in this industry that the first game was about working hard on your passion for video games and making art, trying to genuinely make good combos and greatly punishing you for rushing or repeating yourself. Whereas the 2nd game has a corporate air, and such a huge emphasis on marketing and lots of options for cheating. Kind of sad, would be cool if the world worked more like the 1st game and less like the 2nd.
But it wouldn’t be an accurate portrayal, no?
pls keep in mind that this game is Mad Games Tycoon and has nothing to do with Game Dev Tycoon
The 3rd game will likely come with the ability to whore out your ip to the film industry, retna scan tech, digital currency scams both centralized and decentralized, and the ability to refuse to issue refunds for purchases and then deactive purchases remotely.
Oh and the ability to ban accounts for calling you out on fake reviews.
and finally the ability to lobby (bribe) the government to overlook your crimes and to try to win court cases when it backfires because too many people caught wind of it. I for one can't wait for the cube crawls with drunk staff to cause the cleaning robots to have an existancial crisis and turn on their employer in a sort of hybrid manhunting spree/ ai takeover freezing bank accounts etc.
At least Spiff gives gamers physical copies of their games, So he's not the worst.
This is literally what Bethesda has been doing for the last decade with The Elder Scrolls and Fallout
It is amazing that the strategy game publishers use in the real world works equally fine in the simulation.
"who would win, a billion $ publisher or a cheeky exploiter" Spiff is a Yorkshire tea drinking philosopher asking the real questions we need answers for
why u, why u everywhere fam.
@@polska9762 it's a different Heisenberg than the Heisenberg we're all familiar with
I almost choked on my breakfast sandwich when Spiff said "Ministry of Lies"...no clue why that tickled me so much, but it was hilarious...
1984
For me when he said I hope it’s France made me almost choke. Ps praise the tea gods!
this is insane lmao Of course, you could absolutely do this irl, but I feel like it would still be worth it to refurbish the graphics for each of these
shit gaming hardware has gotten so good that they have gotten so bad in optimization that we no longer see improvements. In fact games are getting uglier in 2023 than they were 5 years ago but require nearly twice the power and 5X the money to run that slightly uglier graphics. It's rather sad really.
perfectly balanced, as all things should be, i wonder what the devs of this game were thinking when they allowed players to criticize the entire gaming industry...
that the industry is a mess and you can get away with anything? And when you do something that makes everyone hate you, just change your name and pretend you're a new company (looking at you, Fraudster)
@@thesteelrodent1796 fraudster? sorry i dont get the joke...
They probably feel their point has been made if players caught on. That point being it's a con man's paradise.
"Hey, remember that old obscure game from your childhood? You know, they're remastering it." "Oh, nice. I remembered liking that... I should get the remake."
"fans will buy anything, and trust me we're going to make a lot of rubbish" lol, the mantra of all big publishers.
I cannot tell how close this is to reality. Its like a history lesson.
I never thought calling me a 'majestic sausage' would be the push I need to pause the video, exit full screen, and hit like. Well done Spiff. Now time to watch the actual video I've already liked.
Every time spiff says ladies and gentleman take a shot

If he breaks every game , then no game is broken
A truly broken game is one which ships with no exploits.
So true
I'm not superstitious, but you know it's gonna be a good day when you see a spiffingbrit video in your recommended
I appreciate the fact that you're playing the Mii Channel music softly in the background, just poking the bear
If I've learned anything about this tea loving bugger, it's that if you spite him you will gain a return of a thousandfold.
When you see the perfectly balanced, you already know the video is going to be great 😎❤️
I don't understand how digital releases of games can eventually be "taken off the market." With physical releases, this makes sense. You only make so many physical copies of a game and don't want to put more money into manufacturing more when sales are petering off. But with digital releases, there is no risk. You can keep selling them forever, even if they don't work anymore! Looking at you Steam!
I'd like to formally request this challenge to be named The Tencent Run
I'm a Nintendo fan through and through, but even I support your mad quest for revenge.
If only Spiff could rename the IPs he buys to various versions of Skyrim
Spiff doing the heroes work in showing how the game industry truly works. May your cup of tea never be empty Spiff!
the spiffing brit " Im gonna role play Valve " :'D
Looking at the real-world I think it would be appropriate if Spiff called this company Gisney.
Another spiffing video keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
You're basically 4 parallel universes ahead of Tencet. Good job!
Most dissappointing of all is that there were no mentions of the legendary and perfectaly balanced game designer Hodd Toward.
Exploits or just very realistic (ie hyping up and re-releasing games is super profitable)? Lol. Fun video. Thanks!
Only spiff could talk about market shares and stocks and make it sound fascinating
“These bad boys will buy anything you make, and trust me, we will be making a lot of rubbish” Literally Activison
Spiff minding his business. Nintendo: "That's ILLEGAL".
I'm now waiting for Nintendo to send a cease and desist on our innocent spiff
My bet is on cheeky little exploiter. Game devs got nothing on this guy.
So you actually became nintendo. ReRe RE releasing their classics for more money than gold. Splendid job
I hope this game is better than the first one, because the first game was deeply frustrating once you understood the basic "mechanics" of the game.
I think that's inevitable with games like these, there's always going to be a superior or rather broken way of doing things, it's seemingly impossible to simulate, even if you included more random elements players would just save scum.
We live in a world where a corporation makes the conscious decision to cost themselves millions in free advertising
Spiff's not even pretending that it's not Nintendo 😂
the best thing about spif videos is that you can watch them in 1.25 and it still looks and sounds normal
So this video is basically every existing AAA game studio simulator.
Good video man, this game is quite fun and can be entirely broken at times lol
The best part of this video is that game studios are doing exactly this.
This is how I imagine Todd Howard sitting in his office managing Bethesda. Generate hype for next gen update and make a lot of people mad but he's got some fans to spare
Hello spif, you may never see this but regardless, I am a long time coffee drinker that found your channel via the wonderful world of Skyrim, at the behest of Reanu Keeves, I have tried a proper cup of tea and may leave coffee behind. You have made me realize that tea is perfectly balanced, with absolutely no exploits.
The only true perfectly balanced thing is yorkshire tea.
You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the corporates, not join them! Bring balance to gaming, not leave it in darkness!
Everything I know about Skegness I learned from the "Do You Do Poison?" Bruiser sketch.
This is the type of petty revenge I can respect. Good work Spiff.
Am I the only one that pictures Spiff as a large top-hat wearing tea mug?
I always pictured him as that guy at 0:06, always wearing a pink shirt, while sipping his scalding hot tea with a sedicious smile and eerily chuckling to himself.
@@gotdangedcommiesitellyahwa6298 I guess I could see that.

Ah, Spiff my favorite mad game scientist.
I couldn’t help but think this is like the engoodening of No man sky with 16x the detail. Except there’s no “engoodening”. 🤣
Spiff just reinvented Action 52 and EA'd Nintendo. Now all this game needs is a stock market to unlock the true potential of IP hoarding.
Ahhh, the perfect game exploiter, welcome!
This is just how game publisher really work
As a game developer, these numbers are absolutely crazy
Dunkey's video on this game was comedy gold.
Smashing that like button, and leaving any sort of comment is the best way to support your favorite creators 😊
The overwatch Jab is crazy lmao

After the re-releases, the bundles, the GOTY, the bundles of bundles, you can make remasters, remakes, and bundle those too, and make GOTYs of remakes. It just works.
@thespiffingbrit Hey, you have the wrong game in video title and linked to wrong game. This is Mad Games Tycoon 2 not Game Dev Tycoon. Love your videos, just wanted to lyk.
These aren't game exploits: this is just how the games industry actually works.
I mean, I would probably be a fan of a publisher that devotes itself to re-releasing older games of middling quality. That’s basically GoG’s business model.
