shop.napalmrecords.com/xandria
emp.me/OOe
Following the release of the universally praised predecessor "Neverworld's End" and numerous sold-out shows, XANDRIA finally releases the highly anticipated new album "Sacrificium". The very first spin presents the listener with a bombastic Symphonic Metal masterpiece filled with passion and sweeping vocal lines. The new vocalist Dianne van Giersbergen delivers a breathtaking performance and gives each and every song on the album the right character and mood. The perfectly arranged orchestral parts form the perfect symbiosis with the Metal elements, and are crowned by a crystal-clear production. "Sacrificium" will enthrall the listener with each and every second, and will let XANDRIA's star in the Symphonic Metal sky shine even brighter.

  • Dianne van Giersbergen is a classical trained singer with an amazing voice. She left the band because the high pressure. Stupid of the band to let her go like this. Nowadays she sings in the band Ex-Libris. Different style, but nice to hear, and she seems to be happy there. Great underrated singer.

    • wanderer damion Yes, but "symphonic metal" is a wider concept, from Yngwie Malmsteen through Therion to Epica and Nightwish. In each case the symphonic elements mix differently with different musical (metal) bacgrounds. In the case of Nightwish/Xandria, etc, the power metal legacy and guitar playing style of power metal bands like Stratovarius is easily recognizable, I would call Therion's album Vovin the ultimate, non-power metal based symmphonic metal, try a listen and you'll see I have a point.

I thought to myself that there are bands out there that’s way better than the mainstream pop music nowadays. Its a waste not to release these albums internationally. I can’t even buy a cd of these bands in my country. These bands specially the vocalists are very talented with an opera voice. I love these genre.

  • 1:41 She said "Hrimata Eleison" It is Greek. Hrimata means money and eleison actually comes from the phrase "Kyrie eleison" which means "God have mercy." This phrase is typically used in Greek Eastern Orthodox Liturgy as a way of invoking God during worship. I absolutely love the twist Xandria uses to combine money with a religious phrase. How I interpret it is that money has corrupted society and thus, in the same way we invoke God with the phrase, society invokes money as a pseudo-higher power as it distorts our minds to do this we typically would never do. This song, I think, is a criticism of our society and one (extremely clever way) of doing so is by slightly altering a religious phrase into something new, i.e. Hrimata Eleison. It is actually my favorite part of the song because it is incredibly clever. I hope that helps and makes sense!

  • You can all thank Tuomas Holopainen for creating Nightwish and the impetus for hundreds of bands that have followed their unique sound over the past 20 years. Bands like Xandria are really the torch bearers of a worldwide phenomenon that tens of millions of fans enjoy. This music sure beats 90% of the garbage that's come out of the US in recent decades -- keep up the good work!

    • As much as I'm not prepared to challenge the facts of your statement, I've got a bit of a problem with going to another band's videos to boost another band at their expense. And yes, I'll agree that you haven't even remotely pulled the 'this is crap. For real music, you should go listen to xxx', but you *have* explicitly subordinated Xandria to Nightwish. If you want to give tributes to Nightwish, or rather, Tuomas Holopainen (and I'm still not saying they're undeserved), do it on Nightwish videos or perhaps other bands Holopainen might actually be a part of.

    • @@meritwolf219 Wow, what a comment. You practically admit that you're hitting a strawman argument. Why'd you make a comment if you can't even stand by your own opinion? On a year old comment under a 7yo video... 1st of all, This is NOT a zero-sum game. Did you know you can listen to and like multiple bands at the same time? I'm often looking for other bands in the comments under songs I like, and many others do so. 2nd, What's wrong being inspired by someone else? Also, as far as I'm concerned, the YT algorithm recommends Xandria when you're listening to NW BECAUSE someone commented "Nightwish" under Xandria videos... (and vice versa.) 3rd, he congratulated the band (praise, not discouragement) while mentioning another that might've tributed to their success by kickstarting a whole genre (praise again). Btw he said that even if a band is just a shitty NW-clone, it's still better than the terrible majority of US music. (Now that's praise (of Xandria,) at the expense of others, but it's so common to s**t on pop / US nowaydays that it's just a droplet in the ocean.)

    • @@luxetveritas9196 You were very friendly about it, and I appreciate that. I would just like to say two things. One is that there's a huge difference between Tuomas talking about Tuomas and some rando (which would include me) talking about Xandria. But that's a style thing. The second is that it's not a competition. Like hell it's not. They compete for our money and (with KZhead especially) our time. I do not have a budget large enough to buy all the music I want, and I doubt you do either. As for time, even without work and sleep, I still have exactly twenty-four hours in a day, and I hear that nobody else has any more or less. (Don't quote me on that.)

    • @@Belarithian I wasn't going to reply to this. I deliberately removed it from my notifications so I wouldn't be irritated and do, well, this. But here I am, listening to it when I noticed the original irritant and came back. Point one. Straw man comment. By trying NOT to take aim at a strawman, I'm taking aim at a strawman? Great. The classic heads-I-win-tails-you-lose conversational gambit. Also known as 'you're racist until you admit you're racist, and then you're just racist'. Not a good look for you. Point two, he came to a SIX year old video to leave his comment, and I came to his ONE year old video to reply. Strawman much? Oh, no, that's just hypocrisy instead. I guess you win. Point Three, Not a zero-sum game. Only twenty-four hours in a day, and if you're really streaming different bands into each ear, then your sensory processing is on a completely different level than mine, and I won't argue further. Point Four, what's wrong being inspired? Not a thing. What's wrong having someone else decide it for them? Get called derivative in the art world, and see if it helps your career. Point Five, Praising a group by saying someone else made their success possible ... that's ... not praise. And oceans are changed a drop at a time. We don't achieve by fitting in, we achieve by defying the ocean and being something else. Which leads to ... Point Six. Yeah, saying it WAS pretty stupid after all, I'll own that. Not because I don't stand by what I said, but because ten minutes later I realized that it wasn't likely to improve things. That's on me. The internet is an ocean of this stuff, and I am (imperfectly) trying to be a little better.

Being a metal fan for 30 years and your typical 9-to-6 corporate guy in America, I won't forgive myself for not having discovered your band earlier! While listening to iHeartRadio in my office, Xandria came up through my custom radio and as soon as I heard it, I ordered Sacrificium and Neverworld’s End (I REFUSE to download piracy as I truly respect real musical talent!). Sacrificium has brought tears to my eyes and made my days in my office more enjoyable when I'm dealing with corporate pressure and deadlines. • WT never died. Xandria is still figuring out who they are since they were medicore with Lisa, amazing with Manu, and better with Dianne. WT is and always be amazing. Hydra is an amazing album.

  • What a singer. Dianne van Giersbergen is so good. How stupid you can be as Xandria to loose such a fenomenal singer. Dianne nowadays sings in de band Ex Libris.
