In the mid-2000s Yuke's developed some of the best wrestling games. In hindsight, the Smackdown vs. Raw games were truly ahead of their time. They had an impressive array of creation features, offered modes not found in any other sports game, and had very enjoyable arcade gameplay. However, in 2012, THQ, the publisher of these games, filed for bankruptcy, leading to 2K acquiring the rights to produce wrestling games. Despite keeping Yuke's at the helm of development, there appeared to be a shift in the quality of the games under 2K's banner.

I really want them to combine mygm and universe mode and add promos, contract signings which have the option of having a brawl, multi-man rivalries, promos for tag teams, new cutscenes to help propel storylines, draft mode, show intros, 2 night wrestlemanias, saturday PLE option.
That would be awesome. We definitely need create-a-story mode back.
2k should incorporate Madden's franchise mode structure it has multiple roles within its franchise mode like player, coach, gm, owner. UNIVERSE MODE - pick a role within the universe and build your legacy. Wrestlers, managers, and gms will retire and new ones will be generated or created by the user. MANAGERS - you build your legacy by managing a stable of superstars. You're like a game planner, the better they do, the better you do. SUPERSTAR - you pick or create a wrestler and pave your legacy. You could be a jobber, a mid-carder, a legend, etc. You also earn unlockables the higher your status gets. GM - You are in charge of managing the show, storylines, superstars, and funds. The owner, fans, and superstar morale will affect your legacy. Legacy unlocks the owners trust and some of his abilities. OWNER - You're the head honcho. Whatever you want goes. Create/customize brands, belts, presentation, storylines, ppvs, and tournaments. You build your legacy similarly to the GM but you don't have to worry as much. This mode unlocks creative liberties like new match types, storylines, and customizable belts/rings.
Sounds all nice but I'd hope they improve on the backbone of their game...namely gameplay and more specific AI. Thr AI is barely competent enough too be fun in singles or tag matches but multiman matches show how many things don't really work.
2k19 was incredible. it's one of the reasons people are asking for many of the features from it back. chain wrestling, rest holds, better fatigue system, etc.
It was so good & I’m upset I never downloaded it onto my Xbox series X, I want all my data from the Xbox one X on my series x but I’m not sure how to transfer it 💔
I want the controls back as well. WWE 2k22 controls and gameplay is so ass. It just doesn't feel fun anymore.

Resources and time spent on that mode could be spent on creating other more interesting modes or improving already existing ones.

WWE 2K19 is the magnum opus of the 2K series (aside from 2K14 which was great in its own right) and anyone who doesn't see that should just go play Street Fighter.

Nothing will ever beat 2010s story mode. So much fun with my cousin too with the coop campaign mode too.
The Road to Wrestlemania modes still have some of the best storylines done in a wrestling game.

I doubt the formula changes much even if 2K25 is next-gen only. I’d expect a significant change either if 2K25 is a disaster comparable to 2K20 or when the new generation consoles release.

At 03:58 Lol they literally got that from Fight Forever, as the Fight Forever devs are the creators of the old Yukes games and AKI, where throwable weapons were always a staple.
I used to love WCE revenge and then Wrestlemaina 2000 by THQ these were the best in my opinion at the time

2K24 would be even better is if they give us a better weight detection system. It still feels like Rey Mysteryo can easily scoop slam Brauns Stroman.
Yeah, there’s a bunch of moves that seem to bypass weight detection in the game.

I bought a xbox one in2020 having had wrestling games on the 360 until 2017. I bought deluxe versions of 2k18 and 19 and 20 very cheaply at the time. 2k20 despite the criticism was continually patched until wwe2k22 came out and that got rid of most of the bugs . 2k19 had servers still on until 2022. I didn't like 2k20 or 2k24 and still like the older wwe 360 games.
How was WWE 2K17 for the 360? Was it a reskin of 2K14 or did they actually put effort in it?
@@SpyroCG 2k17 on the 360 has much smaller wrestlers than wwe2k 12,13 and 14 on 360. 2k17 on xbox one looks totally different to the 360 version. 2k14 was probably the best game as it included wrestlemania and loads of extra features they no longer include
somebody said 2K24 took some of the best parts from AEW: Fight Forever and implemented it in a WWE game.
I haven’t played Fight Forever since it came out, but I will be making a video on it soon. Really interested to see if that’s actually true

Combos to do moves is not for wrestling games
I think they’re fine. They’re not overly complicated or extremely long like in fighting games, and you can only use grappling if you dislike them that much.
When there’s no competition games become stagnant and lazy we need competent we need variety like back in the day you had different variations of football games and basketball games ect

I made a video about it a few months ago. The short version of it, is that I found the best and worst games of all time, using their Metacritic scores and other factors.
The 2k games are much better than SvR. And I've played most of them since HCTP
I think it comes down to preference. Both game series have their pros and cons.

Let me just say this Visual Concepts does the bare minimum if you haven’t noticed theres bugs in 2K22 that are still present in 24 they’re either lazy or don’t know how to code properly because any time they “fix” something they go and fuck something else to me VC feels like amateur hour they can’t even get their highly prioritized mode MyFaction to work properly, showcase is trash, they handcuff you in gm to drip feed shit every year Universe has not been the same since 19 Creation suite is okay when its not crashing the game MyRise is usually poorly written and drags ass nothing new they hype up features that were in 19, the way they do dlc is dumb as f…. they put wrestlers who were in the game a year or two ago as dlc, they rarely carry anything over especially arenas, on such a copy and paste job of a game they have you’d think they they’d at least have stable servers by now. This series is a mess in the hands of visual concepts.
