in this video i challenge myself to mod my new nintendo 2ds xl in less than 24 hours. i made the ultimate nintendo 3ds in 24 hours world record. my new 2ds xl is complete with an emulator (retroarch), my own custom mario kart 7 mod with modded mario kart 7 textures and music, twilight menu ++ so i can play ds games such as new super mario bros. and animal crossing wild world and some actual downloaded 3ds games these games include minecraft new nintendo 3ds edition, animal crossing new leaf, mario golf island tour, new super mario bros 2 gold edition and super smash bros for nintendo 3ds. NINTENDO NETWORK SHUT DOWN 3DS AND 3DS pretendo rverse and stuff. my content is inspired by f4mi, toastedcherries, nick robinson, laiyenz, scott the woz, and wirtual ♥

i commute every day on the train to and from my college campuses, i haven’t gotten a single street pass…. and the ONE time i left my console home to charge, i saw someone that day on the train playing on their 3DS so i missed out 😭😭

I’ve noticed a few reoccurring people around my campus! idk if it’s still gonna work now that the servers for Wii U and 3DS are shut down :,) If so I hope there’s a way to bring it back via modding, it’s one of the most charming parts of the 3ds. Makes me feel so much more connected to the ppl around me, but in a wholesome way unlike some social media sites :,)

Great editing! You're still missing a lot of things the 3DS can do though. You can read books, watch KZhead (better and faster than the browser), download ports, play randomizers of games, emulate non-Nintendo consoles (even Pico-8 and MS-DOS), check the weather, widescreen patch your DS games, and much more that I'm probably forgetting. You can already draw, make music, and animate even without homebrew, if you have the right applications. Just saying that no video on KZhead has even gotten close to making an ultimate modded 3DS, so the title is kind of a misnomer. I'm definitely surprised you were able to get so much stuff done before your flight though, you must have super fast internet.
Yeah I have KZhead and the MSDOS Emulator, and a Pokémon emerald randomizer (yeah it’s a gba game but whatever)

after modding 2 wiis, a PSP, and a billion hours of troubleshooting the problem that was just a file in the wrong folder, this looks like SO much fun. This is the next thing on my to-do list. I'm honestly really surprised that you don't have more subscribers. Eh, you'll blow up soon.

3DS modding is the simplest I've done out of the many consoles I've modded so far, but it's by far my favorite and most used of those consoles.
Don't forget the homebrew ports, as many are good and play really well, like Mario 64 3D (also has functional 3D) and Sonic Mania, as well as game mods like Majora's Mask, which has a mod that is basically a file dropped onto your SD card that fixes things the 3DS port broke while also enhancing some things it already improves, making it the best of both worlds and better. Also, this does break some games, but you can set a modded "New" system to use the updated CPU power for games that were designed with the original spec in mind. Some games can get a bit smoother, some faster loading times or slightly better frame rates, but, again, it will cause some games to crash. Also, some games that control using the touch screen have mods that let you use the circle pad or c-stick, or at least instructions to do that yourself. I believe it works for games like Mario 64 DS, Metroid Prime Hunters, and a handful of other DS games, if you really want the ultimate 3DS
For SNES, honestly it's better to download official versions and/or inject games on the virtual console with the "New Super Ultimate Injector 3DS" (both Beta 27 and 28 work well for SNES). The few games that can't be played on virtual console are then better played on the standalone Snes9x emulator.
GBA as well, just to mention it. :)

@@theomen7578 True. One can inject them as well with NSUI, but I really prefer to use the Open AGB Firmware. The latest update added border support and remapping, including the ability to map inputs to the X and Y buttons, and Cicrle Pad. You can also increase or decrease brightness with button combinations. And you don't need to inject anything, you just download the firmware, press Start while booting up the console, select Open_AGB_Firm, and select the games from a ROM folder. It really is the best way to play GBA on 3DS.

Great video Chilly! & if anyone is interested in N64 games on the 3ds/2ds, there are a select few games that run very well on daedalus x64 emulator! (examples: mariokart64, mega man64, doom64, glover, star fox64, wace race64, scooby doo, super mario64, war gods, rampage world tour and a few others)

After watching the whole video 1. Great video 2. 3ds, Mod 3. Amazing editing, I loved watching this video mainly cause of good editing 4. Congrats on making your own mod that’s crazy, I would never have the patience for that 5. SNES game files have different types and for some reason some emulators use one of them others use a different one, it’s confusing but not to bad, you can also just use emulators from twilight menu but it’s whatever 6. I have a 256 gig sd card and let’s just say I have a few games 😅 Anyway once again great video and hope you had a fun time in Mexico 🥳

This video was incredible! I love the editing, humour etc. - you really know how to keep an audience's attention too. The only feedback I'd give is that I'd maybe make sure the music was a bit quieter in the future as I found it really hard to hear what was said in certain moments. 1: there’s no point in emulating gba games on 3ds since it can play them natively with no bugs and perfect performance. 2: 3ds can absolutely emulate n64. Right now the only n64 emulator is Daedalusx64 3ds and some games run great, Mario kart 64, smash bros 64 and f zero x all run really good, especially Mario kart 64. Unfortunately Daedalusx64 3ds is incomplete and it seems like the developer stopped updating that version of the emulator, so there’s still a lot of visual glitches and slowdowns. 3: 3ds can absolutely emulate snes, but don’t do it through Retroarch, use injections. 4: 3ds can also emulate ps1 games. And those run fantastic. I recently finished Final Fantasy 7 and I’m close to finishing crash bandicoot 1 on my 3ds and they are an incredible experience.
PS1 emulation on the N3DS!!! Spread the word! It’s gooood!

@@ChicagoMel23 that’s basically a given. Also old Nintendo 3DSes can emulate some PS1 games, such as Final Fantasy 7 and some resident evil games.

I started modding mine about a month ago after pondering about it and being worried I might screw up and brick it... but the effort was overall worth it. I'll have to look into the emulators like Retroarch because the individual retro game downloads from the eshop are kinda taking up a lot of the 300 icon limit real estate. Also custom themes are neat, there's so many nice ones made by fans they've uploaded and shared while I'm pondering on making some of my own.
Man your video is awesome keep it up, I love the video editing and the paper illustrations of the consoles hahaha, just one thing I might suggest, check the audio levels of the music cause in my mobile device it was a bit hard to hear your voice

As someone who has followed the 3ds modding scene since the beginning more than playing with the console itself (my hands rapidly became too fucking big for the first model), this video really gives me some genuine nostalgia. I feel like an old grandpa wanting to write about all the crazy things one needed to do to hack this console 😅 Should have gone online with it or my Wii U for the last before going to Sweden for the next 5 months, but oh well...

You don't have to use twilight menu for a lot of games since you can download virtual console versions of a lot of older games. there's an application which lets you turn a rom file into a .cia file ready to be played on 3ds.

the new 3DS models can emulate most PS1 games at full speed which is pretty neat. I've tested metal gear solid, parasite eve, and parappa the rapper, and they all work great.
Incredible video, editing, great recommendation from KZhead, only thing to fix is your audio, I barely understand with speakers, just turn down the music in general and will be perfect.

n64 is actually able to run on 3ds, not very well and very limited games, but i use it for Mariokart64 and oot sometimes. Also you have a new 2ds xl, so you can also run some ps1 games, with retroarch. I use mine for persona 2, ff7, castlevania, baroque, silent hill, and xenogears. Its a very cool console if you push it to the limits!

I modded my 3ds in like 2015. Used a lot of pksm and vc inject. Also physically modded it with an extended life battery which is awesome. My Switch is also modded
I actually got about three 3ds consoles, Blue 2ds, a black New Nintendo 3ds xl, and an original light blue 3ds. None of were modded and I sold the black one and the OG version but, I still have my 2ds as my main I want to mod it but don’t have an SD card reader.
i've modded my 3ds and i loved it, just one thing: you didn't *have* to install twilight menu. you can actually boot nds games straight from the home menu via nds-forwarder. other than that, great job!
also another note, i have the exact same 2ds xl as u lol
The 3d can do n64, it is a bit limited as Conker’s Bad Fur Day doesn’t work however I’ve been playing harvest moon n64 on it for a long while. Using DaedalusX64 works very well
Only on new 3ds though. Old 3ds isn’t strong enough
For the GBA emulator (i guess you are in gpSP) try to enable (or disable, i don't remember which one) the "interframe blending" option on the quick menu
I'm pretty sure on New Nintendo 3DS, you were able to get SNES games on the eShop, maybe the hShop has those? But I haven't added hShop to my modded 2DS XL yet.

I can't belive he went through all the trouble of intalling emulators when he can download games from NES, SNES, and GB straight from the shop. That's not even the worst part, he can also use DS games without twilight menu, there's a tool called NDS forwarder that can install your roms straight in the 3DS menu
I can remember the time before the universal downloader where we all did that by hand manually searching the applications😂❤
RetroArch is a Libretro frontend, Libretro is like an API for emulators. It's kinda like a virtual machine sort of situation with the idea that cross platform should be super easy I guess. Kind of like Java I guess..
About GBA games, actually, if you use a program called "New Super Ultimate Injector", you can just make those GBA games run as Virtual Console ones, natively.
since you have twilight menu, I suggest that you get some DS rom hacks like Newer SMBDS, CTGP nitro, and even the Mario Galaxy demake for DS.
I like adding my ds games directly to the home menu with the ds forwarder instead of twilightmenu

i jailbroke a switch recently, it took me like 6 hours of searching, extracting and transferring games and software over only for the first day. went back to it for a few days adding new games but the experience was incredibly fun and i learned a ton. i’ll be doing a DS soon too

GBA can be played natively on a 3DS. :) (just doesnt has a card slot) same for Gamecube on Wii

You know what you should mod? The sound levels on your videos. Your voice is quite soft anyway, but the music and sound effect levels make it really hard to even hear what youre saying half the time.

Generally this is true with the exception of PS1. You can use a forwarder for PS1, but it’s outdated. If you know how to tweak the settings, you can get near perfect performance in a lot of PS1 games.
What theme did you use on the new 2ds xl?
I always get my New 3DS on vacation with me hahae. I even met someone Via streetpass in Bologna hahae. And It counts my steps, and I have some History of steps in It hahae.

Hey, good video! I have a reccomendation tho: 3DS can actually run GBA games natively! No need of an emulator, and it'll run better. You can still you an emulator for things like cheats or savestates, but I personally think that if you do not care about that running the titles natively is the smoothest experience. To do it you just need a program on you PC to convert your GBA titles into CIAs and that's it! That way you'll also have your GBA titles directly on you home screen.
