I’m 61 and I’m now retired early because of some medical issues and when I’m in my shop at home, I’ve got an old pair of some Bose 301 in my shop with an old technics stereo with a turntable and a dual cassette player and I’m forever playing my favorite rock music and my neighbors for the most part is about our age (my wife and I) and they love listening right along. And it’s always mixed up music so you can enjoy all rock bands; Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, GNR, Van Halen, triumph. Just still love that old rock 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️

@gspinkwrld108 ай бұрын
This comment is so generically stupid because it's worn out!! I ride a Harley and it's like another worn out statement I always hear usually from these older hagged looking women. " I used to ride a Harley and I got the scars to prove it". The only thing you proved was how much of a shity rider you were. If you got scares that's telling me you crash alot. I would be embarrassed to let the Harley community know that I still need training wheels. Bottom line.....think more than 2 seconds before you try to make a bold tuff statement because those seconds sound like they are equivalent to your I.Q.

They had a lot of great songs, not simply the ones heard on the radio.😎 I have liked Triumph's music since I first heard it in late 1979, in high school. In fact, I use a snippet of "Lay It On The Line" as the ringtone for a lady that has been a good friend of mine since we were very young kids, over 50 years ago.😎 Edited to clarify: I don't use the snippet of this song for the ringtone for my lady friend because of 99% of the lyrics. I use it because of that 1% of the lyrics... simply "I want to love you. I want to make you mine...Lay it on the line. Don't waste my time." Simply because after all of these years, we reconnected a couple of years ago, and recently we began seeing each other romantically.🙂

Watch the first 45 seconds VERY closely! Rik Emmett pulls off a flawless LIVE overdub maneuver via an old-school Echoplex six-second analog tape-loop, plays the 6-string & adds vocals, then refreshes the loop with a modified 12-string phrase around the 24-second mark to overdub more 6-string & vocals up to around 45 seconds. Overdubs are pretty simple in a studio, but VERY tricky to do LIVE with an old analog tape delay loop.

A true kick-ass three piece band from Canada. I'm glad I got to see them. They couldn't do a lot of over- dubbing. Because when you go out on tour, you can't reproduce the same as listening to the album. They were just as good live as they were in the studio. I'm a 59 year old guitarist. These guys shoulda made it as big as the Scorpions. This guitarist is fantastic and his singing is amazing! Im a guitar player and singer and i know how it can be to juggle all of those notes, words, etc. Would have been cool to add a couple more guitarists. They could have done lots then. Clearly this is the studio version played over a live showing. Theres too much going on not to be. But, add more musicians and it would have opened up more creativity with that lead stuff. Man..his skills blow mine away. And ive had years of guys like Slash and Eddie to benefit from...this guy is so good..i love the classical progression under the solo. So tasteful!!

HAHA This wins 'best comment' here!
Today is the day of salvation. Remember the measuring of the temple and the courts. God bless you. I appreciate you. 🌹
Every time I hear this song, I can't help but to get this euphoric feeling. The music from this era is so pure and perfect, and Triumph is right at the top of the list.
Vocals for dayzzz
He hits notes that are unreal vocalists remain in envy plus his double neck guitar skills. He was sensational!
He can still hit them, unfortunately we may never get a reunion tour. Just like Zep, and now even Rush.

My kid turns 18 tomorrow and had his first day of college yesterday. He loves my music....can't stand today's music. He also likes the current country which much of is crossover, brought about by bands like Skynyrd, Hatchet, the Outlaws and Marshall Tucker...again, from our era! Kicks butt!

That’s awesome I was born in 71 but raised on music like that and some of the best years of my life great songs we’re made like that oh and I always get those goosebumps when I hear an awesome song especially that one :)
Class of 81.....Rock on Cindy girl!!!
Life goals for real
59 years of age and still listen to Triumph and RUSH, the best of the best times for sure.
We had the best music growing up! We had the past to listen to and current times where so much awesome music was made in 70’s and 80’s. Current when we were kids and young adults. No music today comes close!
II turned 58 two weeks ago. All my music is as old as me. Rock&Roll forever.
I'm 53 and I agree!!
I'm 58 and still listening
@@snakeperley5545 I listen to everything during the 70's and 80's party days especially in SoCal!
I'm 61, and I'm just now working out some of the guitar parts now. This song STILL kicks in 2023!
Still rocks in 2023 and 2024
16 MILLION views in 3 years... that's pretty damn good for a band that hasn't had a hit in 33 years. Rik Emmett wherever you are - thank you!
No thank them!
Im probably a million of those....lol
years ago I saw triumph an yngwie malmsteen opened up fordon't get me wrong anyway was pretty talented he was supposed to be the top notch next big is staying here I was before you had his accident and s***I'm going to tell you something thoughRik Emmett got up on stage four tribes and man I'm going to tell you what I've never heard so much virtuoso on guitar that dude is awesome man he blew the doors off the opening act let's just put it that way that dude is a legend trium0h rocks!
I hope it's because responsible parents, are sharing this with their children.
I feel like this led to a lot of the hair metal that was about to hit MTV.
Pushing 60 when I hear triumph it takes off 30 years
55 soon here, same feeling, bliss
Ya man 59
Exactly
Damn right!
I just hit 60 Saturday and I agree entirely.
One of the best rock songs of all time.
A men to that. One of my favorites. Love triumph so much.💓💓💓💓💓💓
Ric Emmit is truely one of the most underrated singer / lead guitarists ever.
So so underrated, this band rocked, his voice never changed, great fucking music for a 3 piece , absolutely love them, great songsongwriting and musicianship. They let the music do the talking. Love them alot.
Wished they had Stayed. Together
He is freaking great! I've always worried about his back, but the man can sing!
oh, i'm not sure he's really underrated, people have a great respect for him and his abilities. back in the day we pretty much all knew who he was.
Very very very true....that goes for whole Band..!
When a song gives you the chills, you know it did its job......wow.
I remember this one, killer tune!
f...Ted nugent ...he compared himself to triumph in an interview...years ago. Sorry I got a buzz but just reminded me of wango Tango One hit wonder
Right😹
Just a good clean sound!
Windows down, endless night sky out front, and running 70 mph along the long country road. 18 years old not a care in the world other than the one beside me. Please god take me back to that moment so long ago.
One of the best voices
Turning 55, and listening to Triumph reminds me of the music that I listened too. Truly one of the all time greats, another band that may be imitated, but never duplicated.
The vocals!!! The Harmonizing!!!! The shredding!!!!! The freaking badass lyrics!!!!!!! Triumph forever a fave
@Leo Firedecci sweet!!!! Class of 88 in the house!😜
@Leo Firedecci They did great.... On both of those tunes!!!! Thanks for sharing!
@Leo Firedecci i graduated High School In TX too! Sugar Land outside of Houston. How about you?
@Leo Firedecci nice to meet you too! San Antonio is a cool city, i don't live far from there!
Think I’m witnessing a love connection in this thread
This is one of those songs that came out of the 70's but you'd swear it was the 80's or 90's. Triumph was way ahead of their time. Classic song that's older than one would think. STILL rocks to this day.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song!! I grew up with Ric Emmet’s voice during this era (too bad I didn’t take his advice with deadbeat boyfriends along the way, LOL 😆)…still rocking out to it in 2022, of course! Cheers!❤️😁😘🤟🏽
THAT, IT DOES!!!!!
I swear I thought Triumph was an early 80's band. Of course I know this song from hearing it played thousands of times throughout my life, but I never knew that that was Triumph, and I always passed by their albums when I'm digging.
I agree with that. It sounds mid to late 80s. Awesome band even though they are Canadian. Just kidding. Seriously, I have a thing for Triumph and I also love love Rush.
You got it pegged
70 years old now, song still giving me rushes
This song, and performance, is bloody awesome! Great talent! Still rocks in 2024.
Love the way he declares, “I don’t ask for much, the truth will do just fine”! .... awesome!
YESSSSSS
Words to live by ☺️
How fitting these days!
That’s what spoke to my soul. Those words.
That verse was tough!!!
I'm 61 years old and I still listen to it that rock and roll will never die
Lay it on the line 💋
Almost 63 here and I continue to blast this song so all my neighbors can hear a great Canadian rock band 😊
They just don't make 'em like they used to. 🤘
Pushing 70...lovin and rockin it still.
same here and 62 ... it never got old for me although I did😊
Seems like yesterday I was watching videos like this on MTV , wow time has gone by so fast wish I could go back and live those days again. I'm glad you tube shows these videos it's cool to see them again 🙂
Nobody cry at my funeral, I've lived more than ten men, RIP Robin.
This band never got the credit they deserved...just awesome
I thought they did back in the day... just my opinion
For those of us that appreciate pure talent as opposed to all the hype this band is way the hell up on top of the charts for us! Let there be no doubt about that! Magic power
You're probably right- I hadn't heard of them, and I'm a Boomer. But I've never been into heavy metal. On the other hand, 15 million views isn't chump change.
I like them better than Rush
Right
_”I don't ask for much - the Truth will do just fine.”_
you are so right.
Oh really?.....won't you lay it on the line!!!

This classic will never die!
Fight the Good Fight is even better. My 2nd favorite of all songs.
Right on
NEVER!!!❤
My favourite Triumph song. Never get tired of it!
My GOD!!!!! Almost 40 years later (?) and it still sends chills up and down my spine!!! F**k!!!!
40 years? Oh man I'm old...lol
@@HomesteadingWays ... It happened SO fast, didn't it? I blinked, and I was "old"! Oh well. Happens to everyone (if you're lucky)! At least we were blessed to live through some great history and times; and thank God for film/video/vinyl/tape, and all of that great stuff! Cheers!!
Right on and takes me back to hot summers riding gravel roads sipping a quart of Colt .45 (circa 1982). RIP Bordner.
Mine too 🤘🎼
Be careful what you lay out there,oh yeah When you you for someone, raise your standards.then talk to me
A teen in the 70's rock music was everything to me, still is, these guys had some amazing music like this song.
Such a phenomenal live performance! Still go to triumph in 2024 as we all need the magic power, lay it on the line and still must fight the good fight
What a shame we don't have music like this anymore.
We do! Right here!
That's right this shit this days, SUCKS
No talent in this Disney and Nicelodeon and American Idle BS!!!!!
My son is keeping classic rock alive by playing it live Give him some love. Writes in that style as well kzhead.info/sun/aZ2BetaqgqieaqM/bejne.html
@@liteazwell1913 and you can do cover bands to keep it going...
Bands that play instruments and write their own music is talent.
Imagine that...
yeah, where the heck is it now?
sounds like maybe milli vanilli wouldnt be high on your list then
Amen sister
Some people have no taste for CLASSIC ROCK then there were us who were there, enuff said
Never gets old
This was my sons favorite song. I remember walking at the Greenfield village and he was the only kid playing this during this father and son feild trip. He died six month ago in a car accident. He was innocent mild mannered, a deer ran out of in front of him on his way to work 5:40 am
see kids, this is what you call talent...nothing is helping the singer, he is actually singing that....
plus, singing it bloody well and playing guitar.
No computer generated garbage!
and not to forget the naked women
Truly awesome!
And he wore clothes, recommended by the record label. .
For decades I have listened to this song and today here I am one again blown away. The beautiful lead vocals, the harmony, the crashing drum beat, bass lines and if that weren't enough emmit's guitar mastery. Thank God we can see this so many years later and appreciate the talents these men were blessed with.
What more can possibly be said these artist were out of this world such talent will never be touched by todays music We were truly touched by Angels
and Canadian no less!
I agree 100%%%%
So well said
What a masterpiece!
Fantastic band, wish we could have gotten more from them.
Great Music Stands the Test of Time. Still Rocking Triumph Today !!!
cracks me up how many people don't think the '80s bands had any talent. I'm endlessly impressed how many of them lead with 12-string intros. Nevermind the amazing harmonies many of these bands exhibited. The '80s were truly a great time for music.
when mtv was music and not NWO social engineering.
The '80's were THE pinnacle of music... all other periods dim in comparison !!
Overdubs are pretty simple in a studio, but VERY tricky to do LIVE with an old analog tape delay loop.
knucklehead0202 yes, all kinds of music. each genre had its legends. loved drinking some beer and rocking out by a bonfire in the 80s.
this song was made in 1979 ! That being said we had Mountain , The Who, Ten Years After, Sabbath with Ozzy and Dio, Frank Marino, Hendrix, Neil Young, and the list goes on into the 80s ! how about those Damn Yankees that started in 1989 ? Then we have some bad ass bands like Buckcherry now , wasn't just the 80s, lots of great bands out there through the years !!
April 8, 1983...my first concert was Triumph with Foghat opening for them at the Midsouth Coliseum in Memphis. Almost 40 years ago and this music still kicks ass!
Aweome, my first concert was ELO Out of the Blue in 77. Never got to see Triumph, but I still hope to see them some day.
I bet Jerry the King Lawler and Handsome Jimmy Valiant were somewhere close by!
I saw them on that tour, in Kansas City. My first concert too. Still takes me back!
Mine was Elton John when I was a teenager.
November 27, 1979...my first concert was Foreigner/Blackfoot on the Double Vision Tour at Hampton Coliseum...awesome show!
2024. I'm 66 and this stuff still has as much meaning now as back when. Different girl, different time, just as real.
Great riff…. Much greater lyrics….. Put together like none other. Soooo relatable! Absolute perfection!
the Highly underrated voice and guitar mastery of Ric Emmitt
I've always liked this band
truly amazing

@@lenaaustin6692 Well actually Canada had a few power trio's, Rush comes to mind. There were others but I am short of time, gotta head to band practice.

My grandparents bought this album for me as a Christmas gift the year it came out..... Now.... 2024, I'm at home listening... dancing, and f'ing rockin' out.... damn, Rik Emmit is incredible....
this is one of those songs that can transport you back to the time you first heard it. To be 15 again and know what I know now - I would surely be hell on wheels
How long have you been listening to my songs
@arnulford66 where are you from
Absolutely
Tats its 2 that end rock till n
I know right. I wish it worked that way dang
A true kick-ass three piece band from Canada. I'm glad I got to see them. They couldn't do a lot of over- dubbing. Because when you go out on tour, you can't reproduce the same as listening to the album. They were just as good live as they were in the studio. I'm a 59 year old guitarist. We were indeed lucky to grow up when we did!! No cell phones, no internet, you just went out and grooved. They were amazing!!🤘🎸❤ ✌️
Been somewhat of a musician in school from 3rd grade up through high school and taught professional dancing and agree with you wholeheartedly. It was an era we grew up in that will never be again. Makes me sad and happy. Good music is out there it's just hard to find. We the people have to take our countries back from what has taken over if we want our freedom. Thank you and L&L 2U.
Unless your name starts with R and ends with H.
Most iconic music came from Canada 😊
I hear you loud and clear..
Triumph will forever be one of my favorite bands. Thank y'all for the years of really good tunes.
