1930's Screw Jack Saved From The Junk Man - Perfect Restoration
Welcome to another fun little restoration project that the whole family can enjoy. This time its the turn of this 90 year old Lake Elliot screw jack that i managed to dig out of a barn that was getting renovated. Very little information is out there for this particular jack all I've managed to find out is what I could find on the classic British jack website the info is posted below.
Lake & Elliot N17080
Description
This is a 2 stage screw jack. On one side is cast N17080 and on the other LAKE & ELLIOT LTD BRAINTREE ENGLAND. On top of the winding bevel gear is FABRIQUE EN ANGLETERRE suggesting that this jack may be for a French Vehicle. It is 8.25" closed. Information that has come to light says that N17080 is a Ford stock number for Fordson jacking systems.
Applicable Vehicles:
Fordson tractors built between 1931 and 1945.
Jack Handle Type:
Rectangular bar.
So anyway I hope you enjoy this little restoration and will join me again next time for another fun filled project.
Enjoy

Doesn't matter what you restore! It's always a pleasure to watch you work! Nice seeing the CR in the background!👍🏼
Thank you so much :)
I love these. Excellent work
but how they made this
Brought back great memories of helping my father in the garage in the early 1970s. I saw the rusty starting piece and thought yes, but dad's was green. Then you painted it green and I have such a smile on my face. Thank you.
Same here man. Cheers.
The amount of craftmanship is stunning!
I agree completely. Screw Jack. Might be ninety years old, but there's no excuse. He knows what he did.
Lovely restoration 😍😍😍
I'm old now but I can still smell the metal milling, the sanding the satisfaction on a part well made. I'm retired but younger people tell me the machines I worked on still function years later. I will never be famous but I did make things work.
Better than new!
I knew there was something before hydraulic bottle Jack's and bumper Jack's. Amazing job. Ingenious device
This is a very useful video for me. I have a very similar jack in a similar condition thanks to a leaky toolbox in the back of my truck. These jacks are old school but they're not throwaways, very strong and reliable. It's always good to watch someone else do a job like this before doing it oneself, even if it is straightforward. Thank you.
The quality and time you take to get everything bang on makes this the best resto channel on KZhead 👍👍
@@BettySwollocks13 Odd reply, there may be others on par, but this and other things he restores, he restores as close to new as possible. That CR250, that was obvs way more complex than this, was done to perfection.
I'll agree with @Betty Swollocks there are better restorers out there when it comes to this type of restoration, lets face it we are all thinking of my mechanics and to be fair he is a professional machinist with full access to lathes, mills, forges, etc etc and he is fully set up for this type of work where as im a professionally trained painter and mechanic so I think on work like this i do ok not he best but certainly not the worst and as @Halfdead Rider mentioned when it comes to my car and bikes restorations they are top notch as that's where my main skill set and workshop setup allows me to shine.
@@RRCRestoration I still kind of disagree though, simply because there was nothing more needed to be done to improve the jack. Sometimes a restorations can go too far, especially on an item like this, but of course that can also be subjective.
Just watched the mentioned channel, looks the same amount of skill to me 🤷♂️
@@BettySwollocks13 Not too clever tbh!, the guy said the channel is the best, not that he is the best restorer. Also you did not simply say he wasn't, you said "there are some far better restorers out there", not exactly true, so yes on levels, an odd reply!
Nice job you did on restoring the old jack. It looks much better and works like a charm, too. Great work.
Love the wet sandblaster and cabinet
This green is making me blind 😂😂😂 Good work man. 👍💚😎🍵
WELL DONE!!❤❤❤
Love the choice of 80s synth beats at the end
Job well done.👌👌👌
Nicely done and kudos for your craftsmanship.
Mate quite simply, that is a sensation restoration, absolutely beautiful - fantastic job.
Lovely restoration. I am always impressed with the paint finishes you achieve on your projects. One would be forgiven for thinking the finishes were achieved by means of powder-coating. Thank you for sharing, all the best to you.
Thank you very much! :)
Wow this was a amazing ❤
You pay attention to the small details and strive for the perfection of the restoration, I enjoyed it very much and joined for further viewings in the future, well done
Much better In this format....don't always want a 16 part 4 hrs worth of video in a series...excellent work!
Bloody Nice Mate👍
Man, dont skip sandblasting, this is the one of the best parts of restoration videos, maybe do a timelapse if its too long
Agreed.
Wonderful work, taking something that rusted and making it look like new.
I wish I had a jack like that. Awesome job!
You did an OUTSTANDING JOB bring back that 1930s jack. I have a jack which was my dad's very similar to yours which I will be restoring!

RRC Restoration excellent work as always and really enjoy the channel! I have on the few things I restored I've left some of the over flash casting for character.
Had one of these in the barn when I was growing up. Grandfather used it all the time!

Nice to see occasional old school really random job slip through the net 👌
Yup, gotta stay true to my roots ;)
My dad had a few of this type of jack in his shop when I was a kid. They were known as railroad jacks by everybody. Great restoration.
Beautiful result.
Very nice 👍
That jack just got jacked up. Outstanding.

Excellent restoration friend, look's great have a nice day !!! .
Beautiful restoration 👍
Per usual. Beautifully done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Even a 'regular' restoration from you is a treat Mr. RRC 👏👏👏. Totally missed your talky-ness though bud 😉. 😎
Thank you so much, Not to worry the voice overs will be back soon i just thought it would be fun to get back to my roots a little for this one :)
Another amazing restore.... congratulations my friend.....!!!!!!!
Cheers buddy :)
It's so nice that Lt. Columbo was able to help you with that restoration 😉
Fantástica restauración y máquina muy bonita. Felicidades.
Great job 👍 looks great
I love how very organized all of the tools are! My Grandfather had a large collection of tools, but it was near impossible to find anything as it was not organized. Sadly, my Father was worse. It was faster to just buy the tool needed for a specific job rather than waste hours searching to determine if we already had it _somewhere_ .
Looks new, well done.👍
Wow! Best ever.

Great work mate. It was a back to the roots episode. Nice. 👍👍👍😊
Always nice to hear from you, Yeah i thought it would be nice to get back to basics with this one especially after the complexity of the CR250 series.
Very good! I'm from Americana SP - Brasil.
I can't decide which is better, the fantastic restoration of this jack screw or the exemplary video production. This video and restoration project both approach perfection. Simply amazing!!!!
Now I've got to go and find an old jack! I'm jealous.
Good job! Well done!

I've got one of those Jacks and I still use it today it has a really nice smooth action my one is a 4 tonne capacity
Nice to hear that there are still jacks of this era out there and still in use, they really knew how to build stuff to last back then.
