  • Dragon's dogma has been one of my go to rpg's for a couple years now. People say the game isn't very deep, but I'd disagree. You can stand in awe as your lvl. 149 pawn shoots a cyclops in the foot with a bow instead of aiming for the eye and think "Wow, this guy has the brain anatomy of a cucumber." Shortly after, you realize that the pawns learn from you, and it really awakens a new sense of self discovery

    • I guess in a way, when you grow up and become an adult, you have a power to make your own decisions. You are not forced to go to school compared to when you were in Elementary School. You have more freedom and when you want to be a part time student, you can so you most likely get more time to play that game. We can all love the game more as an adult compare to being a kid because as an adult, you get to have more time in your hands compared to when you are a kid. You get trusted to have a house to yourself more then when you were a kid. It makes it more easier to find passion the more you have time to commit.

The combat is incredible and in depth, the characters dont feel too dead or robotic, everything just works too well. It makes you feel like a badass when you start fighting all these big ass monsters back to back and struggle to survive. This was the first game that felt like a high fantasy ttrpg come to life. • The confrontation with the dragon is one of the most incredible experiences in gaming. From his calm, menacing philosophical monologue to the actual battle, it's all incredible. And the sheer amount of different endings you can find is spectacular. Plus there are all sorts of secrets in the game, like using Wakestones to bring enemies back to life and get them to turn over a new leaf. They're only mentioned and used in a single quest and most of the time they do nothing, but if you rub Wakestones on everything like this is an old-school point-and-click then something interesting may happen.

  • i will never forget the very first sidequest i've ever done in dragon's dogma maybe about 3 or 4 hours in, i got to the gran soren inn and discovered notice boards existed. i took one quest from it which said i needed to escort this one merchant to the greatwall encampment. it looked near enough on the world map, and i was confident i would finish it in about 10 or 20 minutes. it took me 3 hours. i went through what i could only describe as literal hell as i, still underleveled at this point, repeatedly revived my pawns dying to a chimera in the woods and some handful of cyclops on the way. it actually felt like every corner i turned the game was playing tricks on me as i got my ass beat by almost every new enemy i saw. eventually i just started running away from everything hoping the merchant would catch up. sometimes he would even die offscreen, and i had to load a save just so i didn't feel like i wasted 2 hours of my life i felt incredible relief when i finally reached the greatwall encampment and the merchant told me the quest was over. he handed over gold, i bought some cool new armor from the merchant there, and i was a changed man, bigger and badder, willing to take on the next big challenge this game would make me face. it was at this very moment i realized i needed to walk the entire way back to gran soren, and made a new save it was unironically such a cool experience to me for some reason, and i still love this game for it. can't wait to do the same in dragon's dogma 2

It floated around an 80 metacritic which considering how non-optimized the original PS3 and 360 versions were (we're talking 15-20 fps on average, WITH dips and a PC version didn't come until a few years later) is actually quite high. And while it originally had rather lukewarm sales numbers, it's lifetime sales surpassed 7 million.

There are many games like it in bits and pieces, but it stands alone as a combination of everything I love about the open world genre, fighting games, and RPG's. • It's a tradition for me at this point to buy Dragon's Dogma for a new system everytime I feel like I want to replay it after a bunch of years. Beating "Satan", "Satan 2" and yeah, also...DEATH in the Dark Arisen expansion is an evergreen achievement which never feels easier or less satisfying, even tho you can get extremely op and kill "Satan 2" in 15 seconds...but then get immediately stomped on by three zombie dragons at the next cycle ahah Jokes aside, I totally agree, the classes are all interesting and the advanced one are even more fun to use, the fighting mechanics are what I was looking for, for so many years, which I can't even compare to anything else now that I think of it. It all felt right...like they were seeing my desires lol. I even like the traveling system, as weird as it can sound, since it encourages you, for the majority of the game, to explore everywhere on your own. I happened to see the 10 year anniversary montage just right after finishing DD and I was like "yeah sure, you're not hiding anything at all with this excuse of a video, Capcom."...but I wasn't still believing in a Dragon's Dogma II announcement until, in my total awe, got really announced a couple of weeks later 😭

It's a really great song as well, sucks that they took it out of the game on Steam. I would mod it back in, but I'm not feeling like doing that for a game that I only spend a few seconds in the title screen for.

  • I remember when Dragon’s Dogma was announced and the hype I felt for it back in 2012. I got it for Christmas and never actually beat it until like 2018 or whenever it was ported to steam. I always loved going back and playing it, thinking “if there was ever a sequel, it would be one of the best games of all time. Guarantee.” I’m so happy that I’m not only alone in that opinion, but that after 11 years we’re finally getting it.

    • “if there was ever a sequel, it would be one of the best games of all time. Guarantee.” THIS THIS THIS SO MUCH THIS. If you never play dragon's dogma i'm fine with it because it's dogshit and there's a reason why it's trash. Dragon's Dogma in it's final form were never trully finished, it was delayed, pushed back, etc to the point capcom bigboss just said "yeah no more pushing back we're losing money at this point" so they just rush finishing it, cut some lose end and wrap it up. That's why it feel somewhat empty and boring in some aspect, while the other parts feel finished fleshed out, epic, and overall been thought about. Now since they pretty much has the combat mechanic done, the overall lore mapped out, and the mechanic more or less done. They just need to think about the story, quest, the world, and the more meticulous stuff. It wil fucking complement the game like gravy on steak *THAT IS WHY THE SECOND ONE WILL BE THE BEST RPG THIS WORLD WILL EVER FUCKING SEE*

  • I remember my first fight with a golem was one of the best boss fights I've ever had. I was on the mountain pass to fight the griffon. I had deliberately set out on the journey in the morning because I didn't want to face the unknown area at night. This massively backfired because the journey was huge and it became night time as I got to some of the hardest parts. In the pitch black of night I was walking through a rocky area and all I can see are the sigils on the golem rising from the ground seemingly from nowhere. It was hard to tell what it even was. Suffice to say I was not prepared for the fight and the battle lasted way longer than it should have. My mage was spending more time trying to keep the squad alive than fighting. By the time the squad finally fell the sun was rising and I was able to see that the only weakspot left was right on his head. I could also see my surroundings and realised I could climb a ledge to get a chance to jump onto its head. So the fight ended with my not-at-all-athletically-inclined mage leaping off a cliff onto the head of a monster and then blasting it at point blank range with his staff just as the sun started to break through the gaps in the rocks.

  • As a member of this game's (simping) community, thank you for helping spread the word about this game. Only a few people with a good reach are covering this game despite its dedicated community who only just recently celebrated the decade-long wait for a sequel. As a fan of this game, it really REALLY is an okay-ish game. Story's nothing to write home about, a lot of systems are clunky like questing/traveling, and they removed the great opening music from the Dark Arisen release. The combat is amazing though, and it's probably the only one that can rival the combat system of Monster Hunter. If you have the money to spare and time to burn, and interested in a high fantasy RPG, then try this game out. If the gameplay can carry you through the main story, then Dark Arisen may be able to burn you a couple more hours. Again, thank you for this video! Hopefully Itsuno and his team can finally release a game worthy of the passion they envisioned two decades ago. This video is a masterpiece. You can't go wrong!

Did you know Goblins reproduce through UNDERGROUND BLOOD RITUALS and they are evil tree spirits, ISNT THAT METAL AS FUCK? Yes what I said was completely unrelated, I had no Segway but it needed to be said. Because the anime just made them goblin slayer goblins. And people need to know how fucking METAL the games goblins are.

    • What? 11 bucks? When I purchased that game way back in 2020 and before state of emergency hits. Dragon's Dogma costs 5 bucks.

  • It is still one of my favorite games, glad you cover the 2nd playthrough, it is still a great plot twist, btw I ended up with the royal knight after just doing her quest

    • Yeah it seems that Mercedes and the Witch Pawn are the easiest 'romance' options in the game as the requirements for them are practically thrown in your face. Needless to say I was so very confused on my first playthrough when Grigori revealed the Witch Pawn and I ended up with her, cus all I did was stop her from being murdered lol

    • @@andrewmeyer3599 Then you have to admit that Mercedes is not an easy romance as you thought. Think about this. The one you ended up with was a witch pawn which meant you failed to please Mercedes. Mercedes only falls in love with speedrunners. There is no option to speak to Mercedes last before starting Deny Salvation. Last chance to give Mercedes a wedding ring is before she starts that 1 on 1 fight with Julian. You got to be careful that if you choose to do all sidequest, Mercedes can fall out of love and this game does not allow backup saves. Once you sleep, that is automatically your save state and you are forced to move forward. Mercedes might be your favorite but not exactly easy to please.
