@@zogadwoethe clutch is simply the part that links the engine to the transmission, if you burn it, because of excessive friction on it (too much engine rpm for the clutch to grab the transmission) then you'll have troubles when shifting, meaning you're slower, and it the worst case if you just kill it, you'll be able to shift only at low rpm's, which is what no one wants, especially rally drivers who are aiming for the red line at most times
