  • Combat have some fantastic guitar for sure, it should come as no surprise to anybody that the Japanese are absolute masters of woodworking and have been for centuries. My first great guitar was a 1979 Tokai Springy Sound "Strat". I wish I still had it but i have an ESP made Seymour Duncan DS-185 copy of a '56 Strat, great guitar.

    • @brucecaldwell6701 You can find them if you look, no problem and they're priced for about the same as a Fender AVRI and I would much rather have the Tokai Springy Sound. There's some great sleeper guitars and amps out of Italy from the 60's. Guitars by Galanti and Meazzi are fantastic, some of the amps are amazing too and Meazzi make the greatest tape echo ever IMHO.

      @undertheglassmoon2239@undertheglassmoon22396 ай бұрын
    • @@undertheglassmoon2239 It's for profit margin. Hoshino-Gakki, or rather their subsidiary Hoshino USA (the actual company, Ibanez is just a brand they own, which they named after Salvador Ibáñez who was a well-known Spanish Luthier whose guitars were imported to Japan from Spain by Hoshino-Gakki in the 1930s) would rather you buy a Premium than a Prestige because they make a greater profit from the Premium made at the Cor-Tek factory than a Prestige made at FujiGen because of the difference in labor costs. Premiums are... okay. My old roommate used to go through at least a couple of Premiums a year (he played in a metal band). Used to complain that they fell apart on him after a few months. Finally bit the bullet and plonked down money for a Prestige, and that held up to his hard playing. My experience was similar, but more because the QC on the Iron Labels at the time were terrible. Bought a used Prestige over a new Premium, no problems since.
