@Beardedbob I’d definitely want to see the viper ultimate vs g pro wireless. I’m still a little hesitant to go with the viper ultimate over my gpw but I think the shape is better and won’t have double clicking issues. I’m a bit concerned with quality control issues (defects in scroll wheel or mouse buttons) it’s only been a few months since it’s been released. We’ll see what happens

@@Beardedbob how reliable are these tests? how much did you try it to validate the data? especially because you did not build a machine. i think pushing the mouse with the screwdriver results in different speeds you hit the mouse with, which could alternate the results.

@@Beardedbob I got both the gpw and a wired viper and tbh: viper is just so much better with Tiger arc feet vs hyperglided gpw. With a g640 and 1mm lod it's so nice, I hit shots I would never hit with a gpw. Wish I had a wireless one tho damn, so yeah viper for sure.

Just got my wireless today and was wondering if anyone had noticed that the scroll wheel click is a little bit weird (one side is easier to actuate the click then the other) so I was hoping to find a teardown image/video for the wireless to see the scroll wheel mechanism. Glad to find that the click switch is on the side which confirms my guessing. Thanks for the video, it's very informative!

On 3:40 what latency where you measuring? Like a input lag or delay some kind of latency? Damn i play r6 and i even ordered the wireless one (mercury edition/white color) but its 28 milliseconds in cam latency while the wired has only 13 milliseconds in cam latency, now im having second thoughts.
device, so from when you move the mouse to when the game registers it. There are a few things that can impact this hence there are a few tests to help. tricky one to measure, i've a Nvidia Reflex monitor to use for testing also.

Thanks, that was a very interesting comparison. But I have a suggestion regarding the ratings. Categories like weight or how much force is needed to click the wheel are personal preference. There must be a point when it is too light for some. Also giving the point to the wired Viper because its cheaper doesnt make sense either because they both are representing two different technologies and one is considerably more expensive than the other by default. And also you could have given a point to the wireless one because it doesnt have a cable. With this approach the result would be completely different :)

Hi I have a question about the mouse 1 and 2 buttons. I currently have the wired version and I’m wondering if the ultimate uses the same switch to activate mouse 1-2 buttons. I really like the viper and want to upgrade my wireless mouse from G pro to ultimate but I don’t want to buy if it’s not the same as regular viper
I've not opened it yet but I will shortly do keep tuned for the ultimate teardown.
I know that the regular version can only store dpi settings onboard, but does the ultimate version have onboard macro storage?

the thing is measuring like that with a screen is a bit like playing jackpot, if you are displaying at 144hz each frame has a delay of 7ms so when you press the button it can vary from +0 to +7ms inconsistently, so i would recomend to do a run of 50 times then do an average to compare more evenly, also i would show paint on display changing from black to white when clicking

I do plan to do more tests but atm just to get this information is exceptionally time consuming. Down the road if I get more time or can do it full time we an get some larger samples to help flatten out any anomalies to provide a better avg
I like your content Bob, it's quite unique. Since you're data driven, few pointers - since your sample size is 1, it's fair to let the viewer know, individual results may vary. Also, your graphs visually show huge size differences when the point difference is only a few milliseconds - please use the correct axis. Finally, as a viewer I'm not sure If most folks can perceive a few milliseconds difference, it would be nice to hear your views on real world impact. Appreciate the content!

In my country the Viper Wired is a 100e, and the Viper Ultimate is 200e. I bought the Wired one on sale for 60e, and I really liked the shape (I'm coming from a Rival 300) so I figured I'd maybe go for the Ultimate, but the cheapest one I found was 140-160e (so still well over x2 the price of the Wired one). So my question is... Is it worth it? I mean I'm coming from the Rival and a terrible cable, so this one is pretty good in comparison, and I also have a Zowie bungee which I didn't even try with the mouse because again... In comparison to the cable on my old mouse this one is... yeah... Anyways I watched the video, but I haven't really seen much of a difference. I thought the skates were better on the Ultimate, but from your test it's the cable that makes a difference, not the skates themselves. And I do play CS:GO at a semi-high level 3000+ elo faceit, so every little bit helps, but the differences in clicks were pretty negligible weren't they? I mean hell the Wired one actually had better response time in some of the tests... So did I pretty much answer my own question here, or am I missing something? Also how good is the Model O Wireless? In my country they're only available through people who resell them, and not from actual stores. They're around 80e, and in new condition - But the problem is, if something were to die on the mouse, I'd probably end up waiting 1-2+ month to get it repaired. Should I just stick with the Viper Wired then? I mean I heard great things about the mouse, but is it really worth all the possible headache?

@@Beardedbob Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm coming from a SS Rival 300, and I have a finger tip/ palm grip, with 19.5cm by 10cm hands. The Rival was kinda big for me, since I never fully palmed it, but I had it for 6-7+ years. I got the Cooler Master MM710, but that was *way* too small, so I returned it. I then bough the Viper Wired, and I'd prefer if it was a tiny bit bigger, but it's still pretty good. I think the G Pro or Model O would fit me better because they're a bit taller, and not as low profile. However like I said, everything is pretty expensive here, there was a G Pro on sale for 140e a couple days ago, and you probably won't be able to find one below 120e, so that's still x2 the price of this one. So I don't know if it's worth the upgrade. I also cannot get my hands on any after market feet, and from what I've seen the G Pro doesn't have the best ones, so that's a bummer... I'll be sure to watch your video. But do you think that the G Pro / Ultimate are worth it at x2/x2.5 price of this one? And should I risk getting a Model O Wireless for 80e. Because like I said they don't sell them in my country, so if something were to stop working on the mouse, it would probably be a month or two of waiting to get it fixed. I just don't know if any of those 3 mice are that much better than this one..? Like I said, I've had the Rival for 6-7+ years and it still works perfectly fine, but I would like to upgrade. I have the money to spend, but at the same time I'm not really looking to drop 200e on a mouse, especially if the differences are negligible.

It could be a bit long for you. You should look at the mm710, ultralight 2, model o- or rumour has it razer are releasing a smaller viper but I’ve not heard anything

I don’t get the point for being lighter on the wired ? I’m curios bc when you lift the mouse your also lifting the wire lol so wouldn’t it be heavier with the wire ?
The ultimate has a battery and these are heavy. They are also part of the mouse body where the cable is only a small portion thats included hence it's lighter. If you took all of the wire into account the wires are heavier but when gaming this isn't how you would use it.
Great video, although I have some thoughts. I get that you want to make it as clear as possible when showing your results in the diagram, but I find it very deceiving when the X-values are so inconsistent, like when you show the ms latency in Kovaaks, and you start at 16. It just makes it look like the Viper wireless has a huge gap over the regular Viper. Again I get why you're doing it, but for me the only thing it does is make it harder to see how significant the gap is, arguably counteracting the whole purpose of changing the starting point to make it clearer in the first place. Another thing that I thought was weird was that you didn't take into consideration to the fact that the Viper Ultimate is actually wireless, which to me should give the Ultimate a point in its own, as it is also the reason for being heavier. I realize after rereading this that it may come off as snarky, but that is definitely not my intent. Again, great video nonetheless.

@@MrKarli120 i have tons of mices here. Ultimate Viper , Viper , Razer Deathadder Elite, Rivals 310 , Gpro , XM1 , G1 , G502 and a lot more. But at the end i like the most my Razer DA Elite. Do you think the Sensor from the DA Elite can keep up with the Viper Sensor series?

@@flavis35 Viper ultimate technicaly have better sensor but the difference is negligible. Just focus on the shape and weight, sensors like 3360,3366,3389,hero, focus+ are all same extremely good. Only specific testing can show the difference, human can't.

I would say no.
Never really expected things like friction and actuation forces to be in a mouse review, really cool details. Im just questioning the legitimacy of some of the test, it's really hard to believe that the wireless would have such higher movement delay but lower press delay. Better testing methods needed, also would be neat if you stated the sample size of each test. Really unique review, but delay testing needs to be reworked considerably.

I have to call some error there. It's very suspicious that clicks have less latency compared to each other and then have more latency in game test. It makes no sense at all.

Nope not compared to other mice I've tested. I expect there is some difference in just the tolerance by a gram or so or the mice.

The only things the Razer Viper needs to upgrade would be, a silent option since the switches are laser (no need to get a clicking noise if the switches are laser) and also a lower travel time for the side buttons (the logitech g 502 had perfect travel time, i think it feels like half of what the viper currently has)
True a lot of people as me which is a silent switch and the opto's are perfect for it.
Hi bob, ive bought the wired version of the Viper, rocking it for about a week now. I tested Humanbenchmark straight away when i got it. After playing for severals hours i repeated the tests on human benchmark and still doing it every day multiple times. What ive found is that the mouse somehow got faster after a while of using it. Maybe it has to do with the buttons starting to get a little wear or something. The thing is i put really alot of time into humanbenchmark testing / getting used to the mouse because it somehow does matter where you press the button down. So here are some screenshots of "average" results imgur.com/a/gl5553p imgur.com/a/o57GsxY (no prediction and no clicks below 130ms involved, tested on a 144hz Monitor, with Chromium Browser, 1000hz polling rate) Initially i got around 165ms on average, but since day 3 im consistantly hitting around 142-148 ms on average. because your results in the video are shockingly close to my initial testing i had to bring this up. I could imagine that there could also be a little difference in manufacturing quality or quality variation of some parts of the mouse that could cause or explain the difference between the Viper and Viper Ultimate.
You could be getting used to the mouse or you are just getting faster at reacting to the green 😜
@@Beardedbob yea i think its probably getting used to the mouse, about reacting faster to the green well i dont know man, i always feel like im slow :D wanna buy a 240hz monitor with lower inputlag and faster responsetimes, my 144hz Monitor im currently at is quite old it could be a bottleneck ..
The preference for scroll stiffness can't be given points in either one. Because there are people that prefer smoother scrolls, or people like me, that like stiffer and more tactile scrolls.
True though I rated it more on my personal preference.
You gotta consider speed though, less resistance is technically faster 🤷♀️ lol..

Yep there is certainly going to be some variables in this. Unless you have a lot of vipers in this case then you are not going to be able to get this level of measurement.

Guys the viper u should upgrade the feet Which is like 15 bucks plus paracord Which is about 20 - 30 bucks to get the same preformance making it 110 - 130 to be the same preformance as ultimate however the ultimate has better latency costs 150 bucks and comes with a rgb charging dock it also has no cable so no cable drag and no need for a bungey. Plus better feet pre installed. Viper ultimate is really the ultimate

UNLESS you have pressed the switches or moved the two mice AT THE EXACT SAME INSTANCE of an in-game frame being either started or just finished rendering, the click or move to in-game frame is going to have a potential of AT LEAST 1 WHOLE FRAME inaccuracy.. that is 16.6ms on 60FPS, if not more than 1 frame, depending on circumstances as the game engine, or the in-game current action or system background processes.. Really can't even be taken as a rough guideline, so Idk why the bother.
Lots can affect latency, I wouldn't read into it to much.

All I can say is, that the Wireless one has the better sensor. I owned both the wired (returned it) and the Wireless (my main now). The wired version sometimes had trouble with tracking on my Artisan Shidenkai Mid, while the wireless version has no issues. And also creating a custom surface on the wired version didn't improve anything. On the wireless one I can use the default setting or tune it, both works fine. My playstyle was also too agressive for sensor on the wired version, it couldn't keep up with some of my flicks, while the wireless one has no issues.
Interesting as the wired has a custom version of the 3389 which is a.top end sensor. What mouse did you move from and what dpi /sens do u run?
@@Beardedbob Coming from the XM1, had also no issues with tracking on my Shidenkai there. The Ultimate feels like the XM1 tracking wise for me, the wired Viper didn't. Felt more like the G Pro Wireless, but a bit worse. I'm always using 800 DPI and playing on 12 sensitivity in Black Ops 4 or MW.
@@freesS3 Also better might be the wrong word, i have seen a few mice with 'technically' superior sensors that have tracking issues on some artisan pads, G Pro wireless being very temperamental with a lot of mats in my experience.
Your Razer Viper Ultimate ms latency numbers are almost identical to what Linus Tech Tips got for their worst non-gaming wireless mouse they tested. Something is off here and it looks to be your numbers.
