A lying undercover agent arrested 46 people, most of them black, on drug charges

A small Texas town saw 13% of its black population arrested and charged with dealing cocaine. But a state judge in 2003 said the investigator behind the arrests was "the most devious, non-responsive law enforcement witness this court has witnessed in 25 years on the bench in Texas."

60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, began its 52nd season in September. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 is still a hit in 2020. 60 Minutes makes Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 nearly every week and was the #1 weekly television broadcast three times last season.
The program still averages more than 10 million viewers, more than double the audience of its nearest network news magazine competitor. The average audience for a 60 Minutes broadcast is 150% higher than those of the network morning news programs; the audience dwarfs the number of viewers drawn by the most popular cable news programs.
About a million more people listen to the 60 Minutes radio simulcast in several major cities and on its companion podcast. Tens of thousands each week experience 60 Minutes online. The broadcast’s segments can be watched at 60Minutes.com and on the CBS All Access app. Its webcast, 60MinutesOvertime.com, offers content originally produced for the web, including behind-the-scenes video about the production of 60 Minutes stories and timely archival segments.
60 Minutes has won every major broadcast award. Its 25 Peabody and 150 Emmy awards are the most won by any single news program. It has also won 20 duPont-Columbia University journalism awards. Other distinguished journalism honors won multiple times include the George Polk, RTDNA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb awards.
60 Minutes premiered on CBS September 24, 1968. Bill Owens is the program’s executive producer. The correspondents and contributors of 60 Minutes are Sharyn Alfonsi, Anderson Cooper, John Dickerson, Norah O’Donnell, Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and L. Jon Wertheim.

MPD is beginning to rewrite their police union laws and what protections those officers might NOT be afforded in the future, especially when they go SO FAR outside the realm of normal police procedures.. and until this system of massive injustice toward the BLACK population especially is corrected, we are not gonna see ‘normal times’. Hoping we all work together to make our country work for all people. And if you so happen to be in authority, kindly follow the laws your job is designed to uphold, IF NOT, you don’t deserve my respect, cuz you can’t even follow the law of your job. • It's as you say a systemic problem, that means you can't start randomly locking people up. Technically in the end this was funded by the US government, are you going to lock up the incompetent politicians and public servants at that level that allowed this to occur? What's needed is a review from the top down starting at the federal level. In Australia I would say a royal commission is required investigating the entire program, a quick internet search advises me you would call it a presidential commission. This happened to be a blatent obvious case, it's extremely likely this is not the only case involved in this program which I am guessing has had billions of dollars spent on it excluding the cost of incarceration since Nixon introduced the policy. I happen to be born a little after that time. So who will be celebrating the 50 year War on drugs that is when it's anniversary comes next year?

    • @@RM-xf9gi maybe it is and maybe it isn't. Please read my comment above. It certainly isn't a country wide problem in the US. The numbers provided indicate a rural town with a slight majority of white folks. Not one of the comments shown indicates any racial issues in that town. It seems it's a down to earth community. In this case there was no evidence of systemic racism but evidence that one individual is racist but also willing to lie to have white folks locked up as well. I would love to meet the "king pin" he was so relaxed. If it was me or someone from NY or something the comment might have more like, Are you F ' ing kidding me I see city folk on welfare with a better house and car than me. The jury had a black person on it and to claim that person supported this injustice is unfair. Most likely he or she was conned like the others. The guilty person is/was a remarkable speaker , a person who can lie and nobody can see any inkling that he is dishonest. In the absence of other evidence he seemed entirely believable in the interview, calm and collected and no signs of nervousness etc. Bernie Madoff was the same but got away with a lot more, this guy is a petty racist version of him I would suggest.
