The OSCARS didn’t even deserve this performance. An Oscar is too small for what Cynthia Erivo deserves.

The Oscars ain’t shiiii!
Omg I felt the same way especially as history shows the Oscars are not meant to recognize us black n brown people in a positive light . As much as I grew up loving the Oscars and the movies I know the symbol of the Oscar represents and it is not of God but of idolatry and false worship.
the fact that she didn’t get an Oscar for this..... I feel like we all know exactly why 😐
John Ricercato I googled it a while back and still didn’t see anything about it
John Ricercato, even if that was true, is it African Americans who are judging & giving the Oscar awards? Or are they that powerful to influence the outcome? C’mon. A lot of them are super proud of this talent & this performance.
Javi Alonsox Glory by John Legend and Common won Original Song in 2015, so it’s actually not why.
@@johnricercato740 I get so sick of reading about people being mad at 2013 tweets as if they don't have skeletons in their closet from 7 days ago! The meaning of the tweets were misconstrued, and she apologized more than once and said if you're not going to listen to my explanation so be it. I agree with her. I've read the tweets and I've seen the apologies. You don't have to accept her apologies, but acknowledge she did apologize and move on. If they were judging it at the time she would have got it - because her performance was exceptional - but the recording and production are what they listen to..
@@dianneraymont5971 I doubt the voters even listened to the recording. I've listened to Elton John's song, and it's still not the "Best" of the year. The voting body voted on popularity/longevity of the artist not the artistry itself. There was an article in Forbes magazine before the Oscars regarding who should win and who would actually win. The author said Cynthia should win, but Elton would because of familiarity. So, the "fix" was already in.
Jetta P It’s literally ELTON JOHN. AND it’s his original song for his biopic. They had to give it to him.
Abbie J they a really didn’t though. Academy voters rarely watch the films they are voting for. Most of the time they just see what others award shows have done or look at popularity and familiar faces. Elton had already won an Oscar in the 90s and is ELTOK JOHN. "It's Elton John's song, it should win and blah blah blah...
Vanessa Helena BIG! HUGE MISTAKE!
Either for this song or for her lead actress role she was so powerful in Harriet
I can feel the power this song holds. The movie was amazing and you could tell that Cynthia gave it her all.She is incredible.
I’m obsessed with Cynthia’s voice, stage presence, outfit, her smile! Give that woman an award! ♥️
I'm a simple girl. I see black excellence and I listen to the song 70 times
Saaaaaaame
Hmmm... Like seriously????
@unknown Ho tf is that.racist? Educate yourself
Excellence indeed Sierra. Anyone of any race can tell she was robbed of the oscar
Indeed !
No one sings as good, as clear, as perfect. She showed out. Her confidence is insane. She’s sure of herself, knows how good she is. Has amazing breath control. She trusts her voice and for it to go where it needs to. No pressure or strain in her singing. Showed them all how the pros do it. She should have won for the best song.
Shes classically trained
Derrick McDowelll I’m aware. Thanks. :)
Her tone was ok and she wasnt loud and couldn’t project that good.
Acqua Di Do you know how far she had to project for the people in the back to hear her during The Color Purple? She has proved herself already. 🤣 Also, her tone was “ok”?!?! Her tone was full of emotion yet strong at the same time. And when she belted? It was so powerful (even during the riff!)
Nat Lopez...you’re absolutely right! Best song I’ve heard for ages! Got goosebumps when she sang!
More than an Oscar or Emmy..wao..a gifted voice
I come back to this video often over the years because it just brings me to tears every time.
Cynthia Erivo's voice stresses me out....how can somebody's vocals be so perfect
Sis tell me about it.
Yesssss
Because she sings from her soul she feels it and yes Noah an Oscar is too small for CYNTHIA ERlVO excellent performance and a beautiful voice!!!
This song is about Jesus Christ and His power to save and His promise to return to set His people free from the power of the slave master Satan. The God of the Bible wants to save us all. He demonstrated this through His prophet Moses and ultimately through His son Jesus Christ. There is no freedom outside of Christ... “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”- Jesus in John 14:3

CRAZYYYYYY
This song still gives me chills, love every bit of it.
Como pode essa música não ganhar o Óscar? Olha essa apresentação, o coro e a voz extraordinária dessa mulher!
no one in that audience even stood up, they did not deserve this performance
I agree. I would've.
I agree 👍
They did after the performance finished. She got a standing ovation
She literally got a standing ovation. It’s theatre etiquette not to stand up and clap and cheer during a performance.
@@nativenewyorker3144 never said during
This should have won. It killed every other song with it's pinky.
Yes
with the TIP of its pinky @Warwagon, nice catch
Yes King!
I ran across her concert one night on PBS while scrolling through the channels. I could not move...I mean literally frozen in front of the TV watching every song. This woman has the most amazing voice. It was a truly awesome concert.
them " how many times did you watch this???" me " yes "
That’s what we call a “singer”, she is able to make you feel alive 🥰
Thats ' sanging' not singing lol
When I first heard this, I fell in love with her voice. Just holy shit, she’s one of the best singers alive, that is no light statement and no exaggeration.
I agree, man. I get chills everytime 💖
Me too
When she sings, she takes you on a journey. Not many singers can do that . I get goosebumps when she performs.
If you haven't yet, be sure to go listen to her sing "I'm here" on Broadway. FLOOORED me
