What is a port? What are port numbers? A port is a logical connection that is used by programs
and services to exchange information. It specifically determines which program or service on a computer or server that is going to be used..whether that is pulling up a web page, using an FTP service, accessing email and so on.

@Neelakanta kalyani great.. you can do those in KZhead also right? Give a try once

Thx for your videos. do you have any non-audio book recommendations?
I like this video and comment ❤❤❤❤❤
You have a gift for conveying information so clear and understandable than any professional or paid class. I'm pretty sure you've kickstarted a lot of careers with your content. Thanks!
Wow...thanks Pascal!
That was so Kind and nice!!!
God Blaise Pascal.. I mean God bless Pascal
That was very kind of you bro!!
He sure has.
I think it's a great idea how this video started, by separating ports from physical connections and then defining them the right way a lot of confusion can be avoided especially for beginners.
It would be better to start with explaining the networking layers. From this video, it is not clear how network devices decide which of the network protocol to use. In turn, ports are just a feature of the protocols based on IP whilst IP is far not the only protocol existing.
@@leopold3146 That would be for a more advanced video. Even this one was confusing enough.
@@leopold3146 Thank God, this channel is the literal antithesis of whatever it is you just wrote. I'm a novice, currently just enjoying learning the foundational stuff, and was deciding whether to group and watch this video under hardware. That opening - and the video - was solid gold. If everything were to be explained as clearly as this channel can, I swear there would be world peace.
See my post above you.
very true i used to think ports are actual stuff i can touch on a PC but this videos makes it super easy
I must say thank you. Your channel did more than help me past some tests. Your videos helped me land a job in the field. I was in professor messers chat room the other day and multiple people told me no need to understand the TCP/IP model because it's not on the Comptia Objectives. Yet it was one of the first few questions in the job interview. Need to be extra careful who we get information from. They also asked about VLANs and Subnetting which I both learned from your channel as well as converting decimal and IP addresses into binary.
Your videos are amazing. I think the animations are super helpful because a lot of the time when this stuff was introduced to me it was through a bunch of definitions, and I would often times try to just memorize them. However, with the images you can just remember the picture and then when asked to explain the concept itself, you can explain what you are seeing or saw rather than a explaining a bunch of technical jargon.
I've been studying for a career change in IT and have just found your videos! THEY ARE SO MUCH CLEARER than my actual course and I've had a couple of lightbulb moments where things have just clicked. So thank you very much
As someone who works in "semi-IT" and hasn't been trained on this, your videos are a godsend. Thank you so much for every single video!
I've watched only a couple of your videos so far but these videos are tremendous! The visual graphics make things easier to understand and you explains things very clearly. Keep up the good work!
I have been studying for my Network+ exam for about four months and your videos have been indispensable in helping to understand basic concepts or confirming what I thought I understood. Thank you and please keep putting this content out there!
Did you pass? Because I too am studying for Network+
@@v-force1379 I did pass. The hardest part for me was the practical questions but if you take your time and try to break the practical into pieces it is not so intimidating and you can figure them out. Good luck! You’ll do great I’m sure!
This video grew progressively simpler and easier to understand. Thank you for explaining in layman terms.
This was by far the best content I found on KZhead on Ports, thank you for posting sir, the way you breakdown complex topics is phenomenal. You are helping thousands of people from your content, thanks for putting visuals, they are indeed very helpful to understand. God bless you. Love and respect from India.
Powercert, you’ve helped me understand so much about networking. I’ve upgraded my whole house thanks to you
Probably the most effective, yet, streamlined explanation of port numbers that I've seen. Sooo many people have trouble grasping port numbers. I'll be sharing this video . Thanks!
Yeah, I'm having trouble grasping anything to do with networks. The whole thing is horrendously complex and unintuitive.
@@toby9999 Same. And I'm student of ICT LOL :D
@@toby9999 I think once you understand subnetting and the basics of networks, it will become much clearer. I was the same as you
You’re doing gods work with these videos. I’ve learned more from you than any class I’ve enrolled in for months.
this channel is a bless.. its literally a 2k cisco class but better explained
Just started Network+ class and this is fantastic! Thank you. Instant Subscribe.
The pictorial description on your videos are exemplary. Its comparatively very convenient for me to understand despite me being from non tech background. Thank you and keep shinning.
You're back! Just the video I needed too! Thank you for being so dedicated to helping us all learn and get prepared for the IT world.
This is by far one of the best videos i have seen on ports and other networking concepts. you are a great teacher sir, thanks a lot for making this video, I learnt a lot with this video, really appreciate your hard work.
Thank you for all your work. You are hands down THE BEST resource on KZhead that I have found. I love how you explain everything to a detail but you also make everything so interesting. I always catch myself in an “aha” moment. Thank you good sir!!
I just love your content! You are a great master, I am completely new to this field and I am currently enrolled for a certificate in cyber security. I know is a long journey for me, however I just want to say BIG BIG THANK YOU! I can understand so easily what you are explaining. Thank you!! Please keep on making content :)
I love the format of your videos. It looks like alot of time and effort went into making these.. thank you from someone who learns much better with these kinds of formats. Also can you please make videos on Comptia sec+ topics?
I must say, there are great video presentations, some which are whiz-bang; however, this one is to-the-point and stated clearly with minimal jargon - and most jargon is defined/explained within the presentation. I laud PowerCert! It is better at explaining concept for my upcoming Security+ exam than the boot camp for which I paid. Thx!
Thank you for using command line environment examples. It is a great way to interact with these lessons and providing tools for work.
You have expalined my 4 years CS Degree in few hours in easy way. Thanks for these awesome contents.
Very simple and easy to grasp such a complicated topic !! 10/10 👍
LOVE your videos! Are you going to make a Security + playlist??? You do an amazing job at explaining!!!
What a great lesson! Everything was so clear and understandable and the breakdown made the information easy to retain. Thankyou , so much !
I dont like subbing nowadays but I'm hitting that button on all these channels. They are saving my tail in my degree. It's like you'll get the jist but not the whole picture from school. You need someone who can just convey it both simply and technically at the same time . Awesome job man
i cant add any new descriptions of how great this vid was. to start out by say this is not an actual "physical" port was a great way to start my mind's eye.
Dear expert, your videos are perfect; clear, simple and efficient. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge !
I love this channels videos!!! It is a perfect mix between a powerpoint and animated visuals!!! I just wish they had actual power points for each video that I could print off and study!!!
Teaching this way in detail and also preparing these animations must be intense work. Thank you so much sir, you are certainly a genuine legend.
Thanks. Yeah, it's a lot of work.
This is how a beginner can develop interest towards any subject irrespective of it's complexity. Thanks a lot for the beautiful presentation.
Thank you for this video as I now have a rudimentary understanding of a port. I have a lot to learn--I'll be back to watch more of your videos!
this is the first time that i have watched a video on your channel. Thank you very much for giving a clean and understandable explanation of the topics.
Thank you teacher I have studied ports last semester, and I have told that it is a number used to identify each web tab request on a browser and I was wondering how each tab can has a unique port number but now you made every thing clear, thank you very much
ooh boy a powercert upload notification, literally makes my day
So clear and perfect presentation. You are a natural teacher sir!
Your teachings are truly amazing way better than what we paid for at Community colleges. Thank you for sharing these videos and I look forward to any more videos that you have to share to help me make it through this networking program. Truly wish that you could replace one of our professors since you like to teach environment. That is way more understandable the most. It seems like nowadays they teach the outdated with the updated, even though the outdated is no longer being used.
These are the BEST tutorials that I've seen. 100% amazing.
Please dont stop uploading. Your way of explanation is so simple and animations are so easy to digest.
one of the best explanations. Gifted instructor and communicator

Great explanation! This really helped me set this topic right in my head as I'm studying for Network+. Keep up the good work!
You guys are the best. Please post more often and explain networking with cabling installers in mind. We need to troubleshoot real time issues and don't always have IT support.
just discovered this channel this is amazing free content!
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge! Happy new year!
I’m going to get an IT job simply based on this channel. Well explained information and very thankful for it.
You are a great instructor!! Explain so clearly
Thank you! Best explanation of ports I've found.
Beautiful! You have a gift of explaining a topic very clearly. Thanks.
You are the best net explainer on KZhead.... Salute........
This video explains network ports pretty well. But I always like the analogy of IP address being like phone numbers and port numbers being like extension numbers: you call the phone number (IP address) to connect to the switchboard then provide the extension number (port number) to reach the person you want to call.
Your Explanation was also very clear, thanks for conveying information in a different way.
Sir, I have been watching your videos regurlarly. They are of great help to me to clear my concepts. I Thank you for the rich content you make for us with outstanding animation effects.
Since years, still my favourite channel. Thank you very much!

thank you so much, it so simple and easy to understand. cheers man.
Another great video! I know quite a bit about most of the topics, but I always learn something new in a PowerCert video. Very nice. Thank you!

Great video! You are an incredible teacher. The information is simple and clear
you got great network skills and also knowlegeable - Well done. Kudos!
I thank you for this video. You make it so simple and clear and you don't zip along so fast. I wonder if you have more networking videos for beginners. Thank you again and God bless you.
I had doubt of what are ports and to my surprise the video arrived.Thankyou so much to the creator of this video.Thankyou ❤️❤️❤️
Informative information, I was in disabilief when you simplified something that is mostly interpreted as an intense and intricate networking concept. The detail explanation whilst just keeping it very simple for individuals to understand. I study Cyber and the amount of people I have met that over complicate ports when you have just probably explained it in detail whilst demonstrating simplicity with it.
Great explain! I learned a lot network knowledge from your videos.
Fantastic explanation about introduction to ports. Thanks for your video.
At this point i'm just enjoying the topics you post. It also helps me better understand how it all works
