An AI powered 7-Eleven Convenience Store where you can shop and buy food without any staff!
"Ooh, a new flavor!" Has gotten me into trouble more than once while shopping. 😅
Lol! Me too.💸😆
I think it’s funny that they don’t have to pay for workers to be there but their prices are more expensive?! And people will pay it 🤦🏻♀️ makes no sense to me but thank you for a very interesting video! 😊
It's called Capitalism
@Andrea6421 They have workers somewhere. AI can't stock the shelves or clean up after the humans.
At first sight, yes. But actually, they still need people to bring items in the store and control/manage/repair the whole system (fridge/camera/payment/...) For some people who likes minimum or zero human interaction, it can be great. For me, it's still a testing system for watching human behavior.
Plus, it’s a convenient store, prices are always higher (significantly higher). Also, it depends on the location of the stores. For example, prices inside an airport will be higher than other locations.
You should test the system for changing you min and putting an item back.
i didnt expect u to rly make us wait for 30s for the microwave 😅
and yet I respect them for it lol
I forgive them about it
Not complaining about it, but, yeah, it was unexpected. :P
Dancing bacon forgot to time lapse the cooking time lol.
It’s also runs on human decency and fear of prosecution. Obviously I don’t know the laws there but I’ve heard Singapore is very strict when it comes to crime. If one of these store were here in the states, 8 out of 10 times people would just steal everyone there because there’s nothing to stop them. Even if there were workers, people would steal anyway. That’s just where we are at these days. That’s also why these videos whether in Korea/Japan/etc are so fascinating to me because I could never imagine these ides ever working here. It would also be cool if when scanning in, it said “Hello Mr. DancingBacons.”
In Dallas, and some other air ports, Amazon has stores exactly like this. Surprisingly, they work well with little shrinkage.
In the US, a microwave left unguarded from the public would get something metal thrown into it the first day. (:
Or somebody would figure out how to steal the microwave.
Yeah, after they jumped the turnstile and looted everything in the store
classic american behavior
@@philvee727Lol
@@philvee727 You mean 'diverse' behaviour.
I guess the downside of this is that there can be only one man shopping inside cause it does not know who to charge if there are multiple cards scanned?
This is the question I had as well, I'm going to leave a comment here in case some one answers you, so I can know as well. Lol maybe the gate / payment terminal locks if someone else is already inside? I've got no clue. Haha
Multiple people can be inside at the same time. The virtual cart they make for you has its own hidden ID. And they use the cart ID, card ID, and an item specific ID to track who picks up what and where with the sensors. It's similar to how card readers know which account to charge when you go through the regular checkout. Everyone has their own card, but the identifying information on the card is different for each person.
Real problem would be with identical looking twins...
@@garderork339 Stores like this use both camera and sometimes IR sensors - it does not track you by face or looks, it literally tracks you by location in the store. Once you scan in at the entrance, the computers at the entrance basically create a cart for you and tell the cameras/tracking systems, "track this specific person's location within the store from the moment they enter until the moment they leave". When you pick something up, it sees "Okay, customer XYZ has picked up this item, add it to their cart" using weight sensors in the shelf combined with your physical location in the store. This is why they also tell you before shopping at one of those stores is if you want to put something back, ALWAYS put it back yourself. Do not hand it to anyone else to put back, as without the cameras and weight sensors together seeing you putting the item back, you'll still be charged for it. But yes, multiple people can generally be inside one of these cashierless stores at a time in most cases.
@@garderork339 This might work if both are wearing exactly the same thing such as clothes, eye glasses, hat, purse and shoes. Cameras could make use of heat signature to figure out who is who.
For Singapore this doesn't actually feel very technologically advanced. In Amazon's stores in the UK (admittedly they do have 1 or 2 members of staff there in case something goes wrong) but you can bring multiple people into the store with 1 account, and the technology will track both people at once, and you can pick up anything and return stuff anywhere in store - including individual, self-choose bakery items, and it is 100% accurate in it's billing. Also Amazon, have full sized stores.
UK stores will never have unmanned people because all the chavs will rob everything. This works in Singapore because people actually are civilised
It’s advanced because you don’t need to have an account , you just tap your credit card and that’s it. And 7 eleven doesn’t operate full size store this is not par of their business
Yeh but this wouldnt work in UK because it would get vandalised and robbed within minutes. This works in Singapore because people are actually civilised
@@JayZinger so why are there so many in the uk then mate
@@Porbei because they are manned 💀 if they werent manned like Singapores one, they would get robbed instantly and we all know that roadman
I thought there were going to be AI robotic people in there 😂😂

damn bbg u cute as hell with that lil tummy shirt
' Probably have those Kerfus cat robots rolling about, holding different kinds of treats and beverages in its side compartments. Like, you're minding your business and then you suddenly hear a stream of meows and a bunch of Kerfus begin rolling down the hallways in a single line before alternating, they could even have their own elevators which only activate the QR/Bar code sticker on the bottom of them so only them can open the doors to their personal elevators... Don't want them falling over due to how pricey it would be to fix one of them. These Kerfus could even be dressed up to be able to tell them apart. But that's just my idea. ' - Chrome
I can't let you have that kinder egg Dave, Dave?..
but what happens if you drop like a drink and it explodes in the store. where is someone to help clean it up ? who do you contact for help ?
Good question
You break it, you buy it😂
The AI visual system is likely leveraged for such occurrences.
I think you were overcharged on the egg bun. It should have been 2.70, but you got charged 3.00. You were charged full price for all of your items even though the 10% promo price was advertised- you should have only been charged 31.20 for the bage items not 34.65. In total you were overcharged by 3.75.
Hello, taxes? Yeah, I'd like my money back What do you mean it's the goveenment's money?! what a scam!
You know damn well if he was undercharged $0.10, it would have been fixed within 24 hours 😂
Most likely the commenter comes from a country were the display prices must show what you really have to pay. What a cruel practice if consumers really know what they have to pay!1!
@@garderork339 Thanks 😊 I thought it was only the USA that didn't show the price without tax.
TAKE THEM TO COURT!!!😂
Look how organized and clean everything is! Here in the US people would probably walk in and eat everything and then walk out without anything.
And US is supposed to be great country
They would still be charged. If you pay attention the sticker says you pay for an item unless you put it back on it's original slot. Much more of a threat would be people jumping over the barrier, taking what they want and trying to make a run for it. Staying there after breaking in would just get you caught by security which is for sure around somewhere.

Sad you didn't try out the items! :( still love you ❤ 🥓
I wanted to see the chicken teriyaki rice ball. It sounds so good. 💖
Why is that sad?

Quick note. You mentioned that you can't see the receipt with your apple watch. If you go to apple pay settings, you can see that there is a different "card number" for that. Our uni has one of these stores and I just figured that out yesterday.
My social anxiety is sobbing at the sight of heaven.
Amazon made unmanned shops similar to these here in the USA for a short time! I would go to the one in downtown San Francisco before the pandemic. It felt like stealing every time I would get stuff, but the receipt was always correct.
No looting ?
25 USD for all of that? That's a deal back here in the states. Everything has been so expensive lately ):
the full shoplift test, thank you for your comprehensive review!
Wow! I’m in Sweden and this concept would not work over here. That store would be looted halfway through opening day. Sad but true.
same here in france, probably even worse, it would get looted in 30 minutes, people just don't have respect anymore
You destroyed homes of emigrants and now they just give you back for all shit that you and your imperialistic countries did to them and will be even worse, just wait.
@@oataoaOh please. If a store like this was opened in America, it would be picked clean and then set on fire in less than a minute. And the worst part is that the owners of the store would burn it for the insurance money.
Lol, I just posted the same thing about the US. It's the first thing I thought of.
Idk about other countries, Amazon has these kinds of stores in America called Amazon Go. I tried it before, even with other people in the store the amount charged is correct
Kind of disappointed that you didn't try the items you bought w/ the bag. I thought something had gone wrong w/ the vid and it cut off early. Oh well. Still love your channel.
All they care about is the 8 minute mark. That's the minimum length for max youtube money.
@@edntzthat’s not true with dancing bacons. They usually have videos over 10 minutes.
@@nerwinter158 10 minutes is still longer than the 8 minute minimum mark. but dancingbacons does make great content.

Not sure this would be a success here in the UK... It'd be ransacked daily, most likely!
you’re right about that, people have zero respect in this country
Yeah, give this 15 minutes with a tweaker in the USA and that stores empty
america would have this trashed in 1 femtosecond
@@jyksedcandknives9666 wait until you find out that stores like this actually do exist and function in the US
This is another introvert's dream lol
This store would last about eight seconds in Manhattan just based on the brick and mortar robberies there lately - everything would be gone - food, coolers, shelves, cameras. But another great video. Thanks, DancingBacons.
not saying theft is a good idea but these stores are a bad idea, we're just taking away more jobs and phasing people out without any room for them to move to
Manhattan is basically Disneyland will the crime rate lower than your average college town
There have been multiple Amazon Go stores in Chicago for years and I never heard of any problems. They are staffed though.
ok but what makes it a.i. instead of a program just charging you based on what you take and put back?
I'm guessing it's using machine learning trained software to track what each person takes. That's technically AI, but yeah, they're mostly saying AI because that's the big new buzzword in business.
The main reason to ask people to put things back where they got it is to not create a mess in the store. I would assume there is some level of tracking customers with A.I. through the cameras so they don't have to pay people to stare at it all day, as well as tracking who uses what card in fraud cases. It makes sense if there is a basic program that just tracks what people pull off the shelf to actually charge the cards, but there also needs to be something to ensure that if multiple people are pulling stuff at the same time, they all do not get charged with other people's products. It makes no sense if only 1 person can be in the store at a time.
If this store were self check out it would be simpler, but even just allowing them to put stuff in the bag creates its own set off issues. There needs to be a check on what gets pulled off the shelf, who picked it up and then if it even leaves the store. I guess a scan at the pick up location and then one at the stalls would work. But again if people walk out too close to each other another problem may arise. Rush hour at this store would be a nightmare.
In America this store would be ransacked after it's been restocked.
They need the floor to ceiling turnstyle for the U.S.A.
That store gave me anxiety, I never thought I'd miss cashiers.
An introvert's dream.
As the store was designed to be as self service type, most of the designs are equipped with state of the art features, such as Check out, sorting of payment, as well as packaging. One of the store also has detection parameters for fraudulent transactions, it can detect fraudulent cards issued and fraudulent phones, since the probabilities are Realized in a Wireless System Shopping Environment.
I just love how precise this guy is. One of my favorite KZheadrs on this matter
What happens if you don’t have enough money on your card?
I wanted to ask the same question, even if something was checked at the beginning when you enter, how could the system know how much one will spend? Maybe setting a threshold by checking the balance and blocking you in when you've passed the money limit?
The fact the prices are more expensive than a staffed version is such a end-stage capitalism thing. "We're saving money by not paying humans to check you out, AND we're going to charge you more for the privilege!!"
This is one of the first 7-11's in the world to do this. Technology is expensive when it's new, you can be sure that the prices will get lower with time and competition.
@@ShpanMan This isn’t new technology. Amazon had stores like this starting in 2016 - SEVEN years ago. Plus the technology they use, cameras, weigh scales, electronic gates, is all off the shelf and not particularly custom. The custom part is the software that links them all together which again, isn’t new or revolutionary at this point. Not an excuse.
@@dbo789 You're pretty dense, just because Amazon developed it doesn't mean this particular franchise owner didn't need to spend large amounts of money to develop this as well.. How much would it cost you to open a store like this now? Go right ahead and undercut their prices, genius 🤣
Not end-stage capitalism, it's neo-feudalism.
Also note that this isn’t in amerikkka. It’s in a country that has higher taxes that supports its people with government services and healthcare without insurance companies. So everything appears more expensive.
They spend all that money on systems to not give someone a job and the product prices are higher. Seems like a loss all around.
What concerns me is how many supermarket chains are studying how this works and how it could work for them. Terrible news for young people looking to get in the workforce
Y'all get ALL the kool stuff overseas. Here in America, we're lucky to even FIND a vending machine
because we're an increasingly low trust society that's why lol
As a person who's not from america I want to go to America to see all the cool stuff there that we don't have in my country doesn't have like wendy's, sonic, arby's and DQ and ofc all the america candies XD
@swisherfiend_Kai a lot of the stores here are going to a "picker" system to curb theft. They get the items from the shelf and you just pay at the counter. With the amount of delivery shopping I've done since 2020 it's not an issue for me. When a CVS or Walgreens has to put Pringles behind a security lock to prevent theft I probably don't want to actually go to that location to begin with.
Basically a very expensive dystopian vending unit
I wish we still had lime Pepsi here in the US! It came out many years ago for a limited time and I've missed it ever since
I see a lot of product flavors not found in America. would love to see an episode about different flavors not found in America. Coke, potato chips, ect.
How would bacon know what is or what isnt available in the states. He's not an american and non Americans rarely pay attention to what happens in the states.
I would like to see A.I. come out and stock those shelves, that would be impressive. 🤣
Oh man! Pepsi Lime how lucky! There use to pepsi lime and lemon here loooong ago. Man I miss it!
I love the idea of charging people who dont put stuff back. Oh, how I wish we could do that at work
I work at a Lowe's, I wish we could too 😢
One of the best things I found out of place while working was an instant noodle pot in the freezer section. I'll never know how it got there but it gave me a good chuckle.
Why?people have the right to change their minds.
@@tempyst409No wonder that luxury store works have bad fame.
@@dhsf5937 They absolutely do! But they could at the very least put a chilled/frozen item into a nearby chiller/freezer rather than leaving it on a normal shelf. It always gets thrown out when found as it's not safe to eat.
Where was this located?
is it really a.I. or is it offshore workers watching with cameras like amazon's stores do?
So there are no workers, you have to do their job too and yet it things costs more than in normal shops. Kinda defeat the porpuse of it if its cost the same or more.
In the States, this store would be ransacked within 20 minutes of opening.
Probably a good idea for an airport store, quickly run in and grab something without having to wait in line to checkout.
While I’m not a real fan of this, as someone who travels a great deal, this might work for late hour convenience. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been on a long delay in an airport and all the shops/restaurants close. So having something g like this open at night or early morning isn’t that bad of a idea

This is very cool! Definitely my kind of experience.
I don't know why, but i would still feel like I was doing something wrong walking out 😂
Is that at a mall or an airport, I didn't catch where? Either way, not surprised that it's more expensive if it's at either of those two locations.
What happens if we take the food items and don't pay for it?
the epitome of hurry up and buy!
I love DancingBacons so much, I watch it while I eat
Me too! but i'm not allowed to watch while eating lol! (i'm a slow eater so my mom doesn't let me because i would get slower, and she only lets me watch when i eat snacks or desserts)
What if my bills be bigger than my balance? Will a robot came out and chase after me?
I shopped at a Amazon pop up go store at the New York auto show similar to this store. It was quick convenient and fun. Prices were fair. People besides me loved it. Like it or not it’s the future of shopping. Good video bacons!
essentially you cant pay by cash, you need a payment card (credit or debit) to enter it's a pay now, buy later system and add the fact if you have second thoughts you have to return it as it was, it adds the 'you break it you buy it' policy
how do the items get charged? looks like it got charged when you went through the turnstile.
What would happen if you took more than you could afford or if you don’t have any money in your account? Like entering with 6$ and leaving with $200 worth of groceries
Wow the breakfast sandwich looks so good I love watching y'all videos ❤
AI my butt. It's a team in India keeping track of the customers through all the cameras and then just bring up the customer. Amazon had something like this and recently revealed that that's how they did it. They closed the location though.
Yep, there is zero ai at these levels. I've yet to see any true ai at any consumer level. They use a team of people watching the cameras and the real "sales" are weight based from shelf sensors, hence why the item has to be put back in the same place. Pay more because the customer thinks it makes them smarter. :D
Was this the one in the " Beach Road " area underground? By the JW Marriott I saw your video and was like I think I was just there!
From a QA perspective, this was a very unimpressive test. Here's what you can try next time: - Sweep some shelves of items into your bag. See if the total count is correct. - Put back some items from your bag onto the shelves. See if the total count is correct. - Take some items (eg. drinks), put in a different shelf (eg. potato chips), come back for it later. See if it counts as the old item or the new shelf item. - Bring an identical product into the shop in your own bag (eg. Iced Lemon Tea?), take it out while in store, and using the same hand, take another of the same item from the shelf. See if it counts as 2. - Take many of the same time with one hand, drop 1 on the floor, put all but one in your bag, and put the last one from your hand on the floor while attempting to pick up the one on the floor. Pick up the one you dropped but kick the last one you put on the floor across the floor to another part of the shop. See if the AI can track all of these and count correctly when you leave the shop.
These are very cathartic for some reason
Amazon has had this tech for some time now-called “just walk out” . It’s really cool and it’s based on convenience. Chains like 7-11 set their own pricing not the tech company
I noticed your hands shaking pretty badly in this vid, i hope you are doing well and not having issues. Thanks for your amazing content!
Can you go back in and put the food back if you decide you don't want it after you leave the store or won't it accept it back?
In the US these stores probably wouldn’t last because we have too many criminals that steal, vandalize and that would empty out stores in massive groups. I wish our country was able to be civilized enough to even have stores like this. The only thing we have similar in some places to this, which is what i seen so far in gas stations are the self checkout where you place all the items on a table that records the items for you and you just pay for them while they’re on the table and then bag them after paying for them.
Happy Hippos are my favorite! But they only have them around the holidays where I live

That's a really expensive shop!! Plus it has no fresh food, all junk food 😢
can only one person shop at a time?
If this were to ever hit the US never put it near a black area for...reasons
One question: If you continue to have places like these that don't have staff, how are people going to pay for anything if they don't have jobs???
That's future unforutunetly, when ai get more advanced you wouldn't have any job.
Someone's gotta stock the shelves and clean up. AI can't do all of that just yet. But I think there will always be a place for stores ran by people. The roles will probably be reversed in time, where a human run store is a novelty but a sorely missed one for those that need the social interactions.
With other jobs that don’t involve being a cashier.
@@commanderz You say that like companies aren't trying to use AI and automation in every industry to avoid paying and looking after employees. XD

What's with the AI powered store? I've seen similar videos pre-AI days where checkout was similar. Does AI powered mean the prices change based on surge/time?
