  • I love in one of his diary entries I think it was, when he talked about a washing machine (I think) that was broken... He called the repair people they said it'd be $XXX to repair it (a lot), but guaranteed that price without even having seen it. Karl said he felt like smashing the thing into pieces & then getting them to repair that for the same "guaranteed" price lol.

  • This video is many many years old - at the time of filming, he was working as a radio producer in London. He was on a decent salary but nothing amazing. This was way before his big break on Idiot Abroad etc

  • Reminds me of being 18 years old back in 2001 - Took my VW down to the dealer and said "hey my back seatbelt doesn't unwind - can you just tell me if it's fixable, or if it needs to be replaced?"...the guy says "sure!"...reaches in, gives it a tug, and says "the (blah blah) is broken, you need a new one". Ok, thanks sir!!! No problem, he says, I can ring you up at the desk here - $40. For what, the new part??? No that's the labor, he says. My mind was blown.

  • I can totally believe that the fridge cost that much. He has a fitted kitchen, and they're made so only a very select few models will fit perfectly into the spaces. The same thing happened with my parents dishwasher. It was half the size but twice the price of a normal full-sized one that wouldn't have fit in there. These companies know you have no choice but to buy these few select models so they have you by the balls.

  • Well, normally over here in Sweden we call it pipes. We don't heat it ourselves unless we live in the woods. In my vacation home by the sea there's a boiler though which kind of blows, but it's compensated with cable-tv and fibre. One should know what a boiler is never the less.
