  • I can’t thank you enough for this review! I’m a real noob at this and I picked up this printer as a present for my kids and I. The test print went fine but I couldn’t figure out why my sliced files wouldn’t show up when I tried to print… I noticed the file wasn’t the same and chat groups kept suggesting firmware update. I ended up finding your video and when you “chose” your printer in the slicing software I realized I had selected the wrong one : / Like I said - I’m a noob : ) Thank you my friend!

  • I have two of these... Zero fails since receiving. This is the best printer I have ever owned... and I have tried every "Budget" printer released . This sucker can print up to 8k quality with the right resin. Bonkers. I'm getting 10s bottom layer sticks with 3 layers and no transitions... 1.8s exposure... I have not seen detail like this until the recent 8k popped... this printer is an absolute legendary super saiyan that folks need to grab up before anycubic realizes they have perfection for sub 150.

      @TheCalaudio@TheCalaudio5 ай бұрын
    • @@TheCalaudio I start with Lychee free/pro and I use Danny Weng's support measurements that he has shown on two of his videos now. Once I am done supporting (after checking for islands) I then slice/save the stl in Lychee as an OBJ or STL, and open the file in to the newest Anycubic Photon Workshop program (one that came on the sd drive provided)... Boom make sure it fits, slice it up, and set that sucker on it's way. I leave most of the stuff at default unless it's really warm in my garage and then I can bump the bottom exposure (plate adhesion) down to 18 seconds, and the normal exposure (model/support builder) to around 2s. I also like my printer to move slowly from the bed which it seems they already configured such a timing in the general settings. I like 60mm/s-80mm/s when rising from each normal layer cure because dealing with failures just ain't my goal.

Should I buy both of them the same time, because curing is the end phase of the process or is it avoidable? I don't wanna be a cheapjack, just trying to optimize the cost. Do you recommend any other supply to a noob what Photon Mono 2 base kit doesn't have in it? Thank you forward!

    @CropsyCon@CropsyCon5 ай бұрын
    • 100%, you need to wash and cure the parts, it's part of the process. I highly recommend picking up a wash and cure machine they are cheap and effective at what they do. Also, you will need some 90% IPA, disposable gloves, paper towels, a metal scraper, a rubber scrapper, and finally I also highly recommend a wam bam matt, they are great for laying parts on while they are still soaking in resin because they clean up easy.

    • Thats why I prefer water washable resin. Drop the prints into warm water for a minute or so and the supports will come off almost on their own. Its also less smelling and toxic than that horrible IPA.

    • @@Oozaru85you can rinse any resin in water! :) i do it every time prior to rinsing them in methyl hydrate! • @@Oozaru85 No one encourages you to drink it... As for the fumes, you should wear mask no matter if you work with classical or water washable resin. The fact that the latter is absurdly high priced, doesn't mean it is safe to inhale. In fact, the odourlessness might be very deceiving.

    @morganhandly7804@morganhandly78043 ай бұрын
    • I would suggest angling them yes. Flat surfaces are hard to print. Always try to position it to avoid it when you can. Also, when you use auto supports, try to follow up the print slice and look for unsupported islands, and manually add extra supports. (I show this in my latest video briefly)

  • So I've got the photon mono 2, and I've had issues with it (factory didn't do quality control on the vat and the fap sheet had a small hole in it) resin got inbetween the lcd screen and the mirror, and I replaced the lcd screen and separated the mirror from the old one, but now the prints come out terrible, and I don't understand why. At first when I replaced the lcd screen, all was fine then it started playing up, and I don't understand why, today it printed a small item as a thick block of resin, and I don't understand why. This may sound stupid, but does it matter, which was round the mirror is, as I'm worried that's the issue now.

    @shartslaw322@shartslaw3224 ай бұрын
    • I'm not sure, but I it sounds like if you painted a block of resin, you are not exposing correctly. I have seen that if you clip the wires into the new led wrong, that will happen... like you may have it reversed.

  • After you slicing, there is price about $7. What is that?

    • I haven't used resin but it should be like FDM, it calculates the quantity of material it's going to use and the price based on it, with the value you have entered. obviously when you print you already have the material but it's helpful to know how expensive your prints end up.

    • That was resin cost. However, it was less then shown as the resin cost pre-set into the machine was not correct.
