This alternate future sounds like a timebomb! I mean a Senate? Each representing a single planet in a federal system? Might as well have a sign reading "abuse me" on the office door.
How can there be any potential for corruption?
Failing and corrupt senate, ineffective government, impoverished and underrepresented outer regions, extremely powerful cut throat organizations and an overgrown executive power. Remove Earth and have the UEE include many different species of aliens and it starts to look a lot like The Republic...
My thoughts exactly. I'd love to try to create a new political party in the UEE later in SCs development. One for electoral reform. Switching to a proportional electoral system with electoral circles in each star system with multiple seats in each and a number of leveling seats for the empire as a whole used to ensure that parties that doesn't have concentrated power in any one star system but that remain relatively popular still can get seats based on their overall popularity. Long term perhaps also work to reduce the influence of the army, although that's probably too much to deal with early on...

That was Chris Roberts' ultimate goal and he was very vocal about it. The UEE is a late empire that is slowly losing ground to a faction literally named after the Vandals. It's still a fun narrative though.
You are correct. The UEE is based off of the roman empire during its decline, and similiarly to the roman empire it is speculated (irl) that unless things change, the UEE will see its own futuristic version of the fall of the western roman empire with the sacking of Earth.

It's reflective of how centralised and outdated the structure is, in an age where decentralisation and progress away from tradition is required.
The whole thing is based on the Roman Empire including the name. Since the Roman Empire was named after a single city, this one is named after a single planet.

So for some time UEE government style resembled the Terran Federation from Starship Troopers. I'm a lot more into a man-to-man space conflict storyline than humanity against other species. That's something I got form Star Lancer.

As a old Templin Institute video pointed out, a World govt is a common sci fi trope [even The Expanse has it]. Are there any decent sci fi IP's that have Humanity still being a bunch of different Nations in the future that can't/won't co-operate and international rivalries extend into space and even the stars?
Ther is a book series called the Lost Fleet, that is the closest series I can think of.

Hell, no... For the most of its history, the UEE was a fucking dictatorship ruled by a dynasty of mad homicidal (and eventually - genocidal) autocrates, who ruthlessly oppressed their own people. And after the revolution, the UEE turned into a corrupt and highly inefficient democracy, struggling to maintain itself.

In future star citizen videos it would be great if could mention that while the UEE is the sole human political authority, large number of the populus have become disillusioned with it. These people have formed crime syndicates which are growing into quasi-factions powerful enough to contest UEE sovereignty on colonial worlds.

Strange that education is so important in this universe.usually, it’s like resources or monetary inequality in these sci-if settings
they are linked, money--> better education--> citizenship --> more opportunity --> more money. The advantage of the core worlds is cheap public education which helps close the wealth advantage; but in the frontier the rich get richer and the poor get poorer due to the lack of public serves to close the gap.

@@jcheck1107 Tbh anyone with a couple of working hands and a working brain will do just fine with a $45-60 ship. Hell, it's not like a single person even can operate a $2000 ship by themselves, you'll need like 20 people and tens of millions of in-game credits to make it work, and even then that giant ship can still fall to a bunch of smaller, cheaper vessels - as can be seen from many such videous already uploaded to youtube. :)

Many assumptions and some mistakes in this video. ie. There is no "High General" within the UEE at the moment, the position is always occupied by the imperator to not allow a single individual to control the military, thus the highest ranking members of the military are the 3 Legatus.
