What I like about this pack it that you don’t have to force yourself to use it, it naturally comes into your everyday gameplay
IKR. I have a huge bias for packs that augment the core gameplay and/or can introduce an alternative in a meaningful way. Seasons affects everything and everyone and something like Vampires introduces a whole new everyday gameplay for chosen ones. I tend to dislike packs which work more like a brief distraction and require you to e.g. travel to a specific location in order to get anything out of it. Those ones I'd just force myself to do couple of times and then forget about them.

Fun fact about fall leaves: The reason the leaves die and fall off is to prevent the tree from dehydrating in the winter and dying. Photosynthesis uses water moisture and would remove too much water from the tree during winter, causing it to die, so the tree cuts off its leaves when the temperature starts dropping and hybernates.
It also remove weight from the branches, making them less likely to brake from the weight of the snow and ice.

Another cross-pack thing is that vampires can go outside during the day when it's cloudy/raining, or anytime if they have an umbrella

10:00 there are some weak "consequences": if your sim fails certain holidays they will have sad moodlet for a couple of hours, if your sim finishes a holiday they will get 100-500 bonus points for the reward store. Honestly, with the not-so-new likes/dislike system, I wish we had like/dislike holidays and if your sim fails a holiday they will hate it and have tense/angry moodlet when the holiday comes up (would be even better if for those sims, instead of usual holiday goals it would have "ruin the holiday for everyone" goal instead, I think it'd be really funny).
Yeah I was surprised he said "no consequences" and it doesn't matter because it really does imo. Those reward points = more traits, and the sad moodlet lasts like half a day and prevents your sim from doing certain activities. I lovelovelove your idea for the likes/dislikes holidays. If my sim hates Winterfest they should get tense about it and not care about completing all the goals. That's something else he didn't mention for both gameplay and cross-pack compatibility = sims with certain traits will ignore or super-love certain traditions. Example: my current sim has the proper trait from Snowy Escape so she super-loves Winterfest and hates Neighborhood Brawl so she ignores that tradition and gets tense if she witnesses her husband participate in the holiday.
OMG yes!!! I would LOVE a seasons update like it would make sense that some sims would dislike some holidays. You could literally become a Grinch and try to steal Christmas or something i think it'd be pretty fun. Or if you like a holiday your sim would probably be more into it. Honestly I think there should be a personality trait for the holidays in seasons like a "festive" trait where your sim cares a lot about holidays and it affects your moodlets more.
I love that you make your own holidays . I have for example made a summer holiday for my sims and selected free from school and work so now my sims have actual summer holidays . 🙂
I love this so much! I find myself wishing I had a way for them to miss school without their performance dropping and this is quite perfect. Especially when I have a family with lots of children I find myself skipping through days because they can't do anything or using vacation days as much as I can
I was new to the sims community in 2020 and my thought process when seeing the multitude of dlc was, why are they forcing me to pay for weather and jobs, that should be in the normal game. I remember seeing strangerville vampires and even journey to batuu and thinking they made more sense as dlc because they are optional different ways to play, not something that is almost needed to have a good experience. Honestly I should have ran when I had the chance, I’ve been conditioned to think paying 10 dollars to do laundry is the coolest thing ever.

I really appreciate when you’re showing the build/buy you don’t put down every swatch of each item, making it look like way more than it actually is the way a lot of creators do when reviewing packs. It gives realistic expectations for what you’re getting if you buy.
the only thing that annoys me since i have seasons.. the emotions of the sims changing every second. aswell as being scared of storms so dramatic, its kinda annoying but i love the pack as a whole anyways :)
Yeah, there should be a trait that defines if the sim should be scared of storms or not. IIRC there's a reward trait to make your sim never scared, but I want it to be for storms only. In real life, I don't know any adult that is scared of storms, meanwhile your sims no matter what age, even when they're inside the house completely safe, are always scared
I’ll take that any day of the week over my Sim fears … I swear every sim I make is scared of their dead end job

Americans often say "fall" but usually we understand "autumn" and sometimes use the word, except in some recent years when we have summer and then two days later it's winter, but the one day in between is called "plummet", because the leaves don't turn lovely colors and decorously fall off the trees, they just suddenly turn brown and plummet to the ground all at once. (It was yesterday.) Often the day before plummet is very pretty because all the leaves turn golden and for a day it looks like the trees are made of gold, then the next day they plummet.
it’s the same in Canada, we say “fall” but if someone said “autumn” we understand it.

I don’t think I could play without this pack it adds a cosy realistic vibe! I love when it storms & I love decorating the Christmas tree and stuff
I love playing as the kids and doing the scouting stuff. And I super love decorating the xmas tree together as a family. I really enjoy this pack. Although my sims are always gardeners and this pack did make that more complicated. But Patchy and the bee house are amazing for helping out with gardening. Winter is my least favorite season IRL, but you're right, it's really great in the Sims, I think it might be my favorite season for games when I have kids. There's so much to do, and it's all really pretty.
I just wish my Christmas trees would stop catching on fire 😂 seasons is the last pack I got in the Sims, because I didn't think my old laptop would be able to handle the seasons animations like rain and snow. I got a new laptop at the end of August, so despite being a Sims player since the Sims 1 and previously owning all the other seasons EPs in all the other Sims games, I've only had seasons in Sims 4 for like three months 😂😂 I do like it but my main complaint is the Christmas tree catches on fire when I light it, like 80% of the time and the trick or treat feature doesn't work. Other than that I like it
@@Juwlz Yes! My tree caught fire for the first time this last time I played with it. I guess I had gotten lucky, it had never happened before that.
Yes. The bee hives actually help improving your plant's quality. The better your relation with the bees, the more they help your plants evolve. Also, the better the honey they make.
@@Juwlz Like a good cooking skill greatly help reduce the chance of starting a fire while cooking, a good handiness skill will reduce the chances of your tree catching fire. Whenever you take on of your Sims to somewhere and leave the others at home, have them build their handiness skill as much as possible.

The only holiday I use is the lottery. Idk, I don't particularly find holiday gameplay very fun, especially given that since they're only one day, which is like 15 minutes irl, you go thru the hassle of buying decor and setting everything up and trying by some miracle to make room for a fireplace, only to get a future cube and some seeds, and then it's over and you have to take it all down. I just turned all holidays but the lottery off
the sims 3 seasons: seasons/weather holidays colds/allergies outerwear (that actually mattered) festivals ice skating on ponds snow depth pumpkin carving aliens fog rainbows realistic rain integration with supernatural the sims 4 seasons: seasons/weather holidays (kind of better imo) activities related to given holidays heatwaves gardening overhaul the sims 3 feels like the seasons have more impact. your sim is actually affected by things from the pack itself. your sim can get allergies from picking flowers, they can get sick from staying in the cold too long or being in contact with other sims with colds. the clothing they wore in cold weather ACTUALLY mattered. the sims 4s seasons feels like a filter over the game. it’s raining and my sim gets a little icon saying they’re uncomfortable by the rain. like everything is just so surface level. you sim could be wearing a bikini as their cold weather outfit, but as long as they have it on in the cold they will be fine. not to mention they made those outfit categories base game for no reason. the calendar was pretty cool, but they made it base game. i don’t think that’s bad, but it just takes away another feature from this already dry $40 pack. i remember first getting sims 3 seasons, and hearing a little jingle with a notification that my kids got to stay home from school because how bad it was snowing. the sims also got a moodlet that lasted making them happy about it too. just small things like that are nowhere to be found in sims 4. that or they are put into the completely wrong areas of game play that don’t matter. overall the sims 4 seasons depth is as deep as a dried puddle
Seasons is actually a great pack. I love the snow too and the build items are some of my favorites, I just wish there was more doors because they’re both medium height and two tiles wide. I have never had a successful water balloon or snowball fight. They just stand around doing nothing.

The scouts actually do unlock new scout outfits with lots of badges, they just don't get automatically applied unfortunately.

I always found it weird that there was Halloween decorations but there's no actual Halloween event or anything. Unless I'm insane and that exists 💀
Halloween isn't a default holiday but you can create it with the calendar. They have the typical activities like wearing costumes, telling scary stories, etc.

I've been going back and forth between several different EP's but I honestly think this is the one I'm going for. The gardening part will work well for both of my current sims. Piper (Mermaid) on Sulani is an entertainer and loves to host get-togethers, so that will be perfect for her for the holidays. Luka (Merman) is stranded on an island that is off-grid (he can't leave the island nor talk with other sims) with no money and has a very lovely garden so the gardening portion of the game is ideal for him. Especially that portion where he can sell arrangements. The beehive will work for both of them. I'll be buy it today and ty again for another thorough review.
I can't imagine playing without Seasons, everything would feel so flat. I also love the scouting and always use it when playing kids and teens

I don't blame them for making this an expansion pack since it has always been. Maybe I'm being nostalgic, but the first time they introduced seasons was AMAZING
I really admit that I love the storms in this. I moved into the big mansion in the vampire town (I know they all have names but I don’t know them 🙈) and it was storming and night at the time and it made that experience so much more impactful. I played my violin on the balcony part and it felt like something from Wednesday 😁
Seasons and get to work are to me the two best expansion packs. I love how seasons gives my game more depth and variety. I'm a person who loves to follow the seasons of the year, so ofcourse this pack is just right up my alley 😍
one cross pack feature you missed is that the bees make a wax that you can use to make candles with the candle making station from eco lifestyle. other than that great review, thank you
"If YOU are poor" haha I love your videos this just stood out to me. Im in the middle there. I cant afford to buy it full price but I can when it's on sale. I use your videos to determine if I should get a pack. Only one I didnt abide was Spa Day because it was on sale and I wanted it. I really wish on Seasons they added like/dislike on weather because I personally love thunderstorms.
i really like seasons only because of how ingrained it is into gameplay without thinking about it, sure there's other expansions which are objectively better but i always forget they exist and have to go out of my way to use them and i just find it constricting
To be fair most holidays that come with this pack are Christian US holidays so it's quite limiting in that sense but at least you can make your own holidays
How is it that I've had Seasons for many years and am only just now learning that you can do custom holidays, disable certain holidays, and so many other things about gameplay?
the ONE thing that rlly grinds my gears abt this pack os the fact that they give us a rlly nice iceskating outfit, & u can become a good ice skater (after ice skating for 3 in game hours 🤨) but thats as far as it goes? why give us a professional ice skating performance outfit but end it at that? no career, no skill levels, cant even do it for tips???

the Build theme (windows/doors) is definitely craftsman architectural style, i use it all the time. the only reason i dislike having seasons is when i jump between houses in the same save, if i played Winterfest in one house, it's already passed by in my other family so they don't get to get presents from Father Winter. On the other hand, flirting with Santa Daddy is a lot of fun...

I appreciate that they incorporated realistic weather in sulani and oasis springs. Im from florida so we never get snow so im glad they added that detail. I think seasons is the most fleshed out pack for the sims 4. I wish every pck was as detailed

Ah I hope you get it! I recommend cats and dogs pack by the way it doesn't come with much pet stuff but creating your own pets is fun!
This is one pack i don't regret buying even though I don't use the bees, sprinklers, or Patchy as much as I thought I would since they were my main draw. Wish they had included more rounded wall windows for the greenhouses and it's gotcthe same problem of items that seem like just slightly tweaked previous releases, the kids stuff really is nice. I've grown used to and even like the holidays now, though, and I love how it actually integrated with a lot of the Eco Living stuff.
I have families with different favorite seasons. The Halloween drinkers, the decorate for Christmas on Halloween family, the romantic holiday sims who must expand their family via marriage or conception, the new years eve socialites that dress up in their best ball outfits and must win 4 fights before midnight while locked in a mansion or be killed and have their wealth spilt between the survivors Real wholesome family play
i may be wrong about this but isn’t there the toddler pool included with seasons? so there is one gameplay element of seasons for toddlers ? unless if i’m missing something
You weren’t right about some things in the video: 1. We didn’t get a world with The Sims 3: Seasons even though you said we did. 2. The Father Winter baby trait doesn’t provide Sims with a skill boost, it boosts satisfaction points gain by 50% when fulfilling Wants.
The Sims 3 didn’t get a world with seasons either though. Maybe you meant the Sims 2? I only ever played 3&4 so I wouldn’t know. Would LOVE a Season themed world though. Some small town that has a festival for all the seasons, a park that has cherry blossom in spring, flowery fields in summer, beautiful red and orange trees and leafpiles in autumn and frozen ponds to ice skate on in winter!
I have to say this is my fave pack so far. I love the challenge it creates for gardening and the holidays too. I just had Christmas and it was sooooo fun. Only issue I had was I used to have my Sims kids go outside when my Sim was tending their farm but they can't do that alot now
There is some game play for toddlers. They have the kiddie pools to play in during the summer and they can take part in some (not all though) of the holiday activities, such as eating a grand meal at the winter fest holiday.
The amount of townies i have seen die of freezing when going to lots in Sanmyshuno in winter is scary 😄 why can't they put on winter clothes when going to town!

I feel like the world of City Living also has its own weather as it rains a lot more and has a lot more thunderstorms than other worlds
I have an issue with the scout outfit : It's a warm weather outfit only. There is no cold weather version of it. Going to your scout meetings in Winter is bad, like real BAD. Regarding the gardening. Seasons make it possible to plant without planter boxes. You can plant literally anywhere on the lot. Even other lots like community lots, other residential lots and parks. I just HATE that horrible brawl day, and the way it creep up on you. Unlike other holidays, it only show up a few days in advance and screw you up. Whenever I get it, I promptly delete it and change it to a Dance Day, or a streaking day. A successful holiday is worth satisfaction points, at 100 points per «traditions» completed. You may want to have the Waterproof and the Storm Chaser traits. First make the Sims impervious to rain, the second make them happy during a thunder storm. The kids from Father Winter gain satisfaction 50% faster.
There's also a new death that came with seasons - besides just lightning, which can also power you up with electricity powers instead of killing you sometimes - you can scent your flower displays, and if you scent them with the death flower, it forcibly ages the sim you give the flowers to...so you can use your flowers to kill others!

I really wish that when it rained my Sims will put on their raincoat and then not get wet. I’m sure that’s too big ask but it sure would’ve been nice.

I miss all the details like the bloody flopping slice of pizza, the way your Sims got picked up with rusty and beaten up cars at the beginning of a new career. Or just simple things like a round "Rock Paper Scissors" with good ol' homeboy Death. Now the whole game is a loveless and hollow shell of ... something. The basic game is a bad joke without all the expensive packs and add-ons. I'm really excited about the alternatives for "The Sims". Like "Paralives" or "Life By You". I don't have this expansion but I have the flower arranging skill with they bonsi tree. They sometimes put half of a pack in another pack so that a feature is there but useless unless you get another pack.
My main critique (besides bugs & glitches overall) Is that seasons should've been in the base game
Father Winter seems to be an adaptation of the Slavic dedushka maros- that means grandpa winter. He is the Slavic Santa clause but he has a niece called sneguratshka.
It's not Slavic, it's an invention of USSR to replace Saint Nikolas.

weather should indeed be default to basegame... I bought it on sims 3 and it wasn't my fav... I HATE the calender and the stupid weekly 'seasonal' events... so I didn't buy it at first. Then all of a sudden the calendar got basegame... I was annoyed because I couldn't find how to turn off the events. People said you needed the pack to do so. Bought it... Only to find out it added even more to the calender. Yes, you can delete all the holidays, but no... not the seasonal events??? (or at least, it won't let me!) You can turn it off you say? HOW!!!??? I like the items, but seriously, due to all the issues, I've stopped 'playing' and just build most of the time when I do play the sims 4. How do I turn off the events? I can't find it... not in my settings, not on the calender either. This a glitch, a bug? Anyone else having this? Oh well.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I wouldn’t mind if seasons would be multiple different packs in sims 5. As long the calendar and weather are in base game. Sims 4 already sells mayor seasons gameplay in smaller packs
i bought spooky stuff the other day thinking that there would be cross-pack compatibility with seasons, only to find that there is none. if i had known that, i wouldn't have bought it
omg when you talked about the automatic umbrellas I raised my eyebrow and thought "does this work on the sims 4????" and then came the bugs and glitches part lol at this point is just predictable
i'm really not mad seasons didn't come with a world bc of the weather effects in all other worlds, but how cool would a world inspired by Switzerland have been where you can go skiing in the winter and canooing and biking in the summer

Does this pack mean that they change into their everyday outfits automatically when they go inside? As a Finn 🇫🇮🇪🇺, the fact that they wear shoes inside at home doesn't make sense. I bought this pack and others during the summer sale, but I don't have enough space on my PC to install The Sims 4 yet, so I'm unable to check it. I play on my Xbox (Get to Work was free and MWS cheap).

I think seasons would be best, but if you want to have cats and dogs to customize them I suggest the packm

Seasons should just be base game, paying the price of a whole game for 1gb of content is criminal. I appreciate the in-depth review though.

I turn off the thunderstorms and blizzards becauce the shallow emotion system just makes them a gameplay hinderance. I wish the emotions and weather tied together better.
Havent seen yet but here is my take Its not open world and thats a game over to me. After playing like 40 hours recently on Sims 3, I realized that most stuff that are better in 4 get worse because its not open world. Im tired of making sacrifices in Sims 4. For me to experience a bunch of things, I have to face a loading screen and split my family, while in Sims 3 you get to control it all at once, and you are able to freely do whatever you want with no issues. Anyway let me see the video :)

@@findingbrooki I had more fun in 4 once I accepted I can't do all I want, and cant shape stuff in a more natural way, so I just decided to say: hey, if this sim has to go on a date, and the other 6 will do nothing, then so be it, whatever, just go to the date! Its still super annoying, and you often stay at home just because of that.

15:19 About that. I agree weather should be base game (just like inZOI is doing. Don't know about Paralives and Life By You). I actually think that things people typically experience in real life should be base game. So weather, cars, cats and dogs, laundry, home maintenance (like what Bust the Dust does), active careers etc should be base game. Then things that are more out there like supercars, horses as pets, ranches, being an astronaut etc can be expansion packs therefore if you want the more out there stuff it's up to you to choose to get it

I find it strange that seasons have holidays and stuff, but in order to get Halloween or something like that you basically have to spooky stuff or a similar
The swatch system is the reason people miss so many good designs. You are more likely to skip over swatches if you have you hover your mouse over every swatch. I find it exhausting. TS2 had a whole catalog that shows you immediately what is available when you click on an item. The only click you need is to click through pages, not every individual swatch
They missed an opportunity by having a rain outfit selection like they do with hot weather and cold weather.
Season is actually one of my favorite expansion packs. I like all tje different seasons and what the sims CAN DO In each seson. Ihe case part though was a bit lacking for kids at leaste in clothing. They COULD HAVE HAD A BIT MORE clothes for kids in sesons. It feels like kids get either skipped out on or forgotten in some packs especially seasons. WHY is that? 🤨🤔over seasons is a good pack for sims 4 as well as sims 3. 👍✌

People keep saying "you're literally paying for weather" but you're really paying for hundreds of hours of dev work. A lot of other expansions have less dev work but a few more hours spent by content teams building worlds... I'd imagine devs are paid more than the content building teams assuming they're not the same people, so dev work is more expensive for a company.
