The Ticwatch Pro just got refreshed - some 2020 shine, upgraded durability, and also - an upgraded price. Should you go for it - this is what you’ll find out watching the video.
The Ticwatch Pro 2020 edition is a slightly upgraded version of the original Pro - and in my opinion adds almost everything that the original was missing.
As for the features we like - relayed calls from your phone - that was in even with the first edition, the very good tic sports integration, all the good and bad sides of wearOS, very decent build quality, and this really nice layered display technology, which allows the usage of essential mode, which made me buy it at the first place. Concerning the price - 260USD, which already sees some discounts here and there - and before purchasing - check out the description, because there’s a nice discount for you to grab. At that price level - we can agree that the TicWatch Pro is the most affordable fully functional WearOS device you can buy at the moment.
Let’s see the specs: Snapdragon 2100, So - yeah - a processor from 2016 - doesn’t sound that convincing, but it’s fine! 1GB RAM- which is the more important value - twice more than the original, Bluetooth, Wifi, the 415mAh battery - all that is packed within just 58.5 grams, and also - rewarded with the Military Standard 810G - withstanding temperature shocks, high pressure, solar radiation and shock and dust proof. Looks like two years later technologies have advanced enough to let you swim with the Ticwatch! Which is unlocking a whole new world, and together with 24/7 heart rate tracking, NFC payments, and the good sports integration - I likely am going to wear it from time to time, simply because it’s good!
Devoting a special minute to the display: 1.39 inch AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 3, and very good colors and brightness.
The Menus - this is the usual WearOS gesture control in 2020, and with swipe down - we have access to the quick toggles, and swiping left or right - shows the main cards. The app launcher is nice, you can of course count on the entries from Play Store.
We cannot deny the supremacy of Google’s ecosystem - Googpe Pay, Calendar and Google maps, the Google Assistant, and of course - texting -you can both read and respond to texts - either using predefined answers or, taking advantage of the virtual keyboard.
There also are some remarkably useful apps. And even with quite many apps, the battery management remains good, and I was rarely staying below a full day. In fact the battery life without always on display was often close to two days! With always ON and all the tracking enabled… well - a full day was often a success. But Whatever I’ve challenged the ticwatch pro 2020 with - it kept on delivering. Very quick GPS locking, good maps accuracy, so easy handling of notifications; and also - really good phone quality.

Great review Michael. I have a fossil gen4 explorist and amazfit stratos. I use them both, but slightly prefer the stratos for its battery life with full feature always on display, and sleep tracking. Amazfit just updated the phone app too, much better user interface now. But still there are often times I really miss not being able to respond to text messages. Doesn't seem like the 2020 ticwatch pro meets my needs either. So I am still waiting for the perfect smart watch... Full-feature always ON display, sleep tracking, 5-6 day battery life, BT notifier+responder. It just doesn't exist, in either apple or Android ecosystems. Still though I am content with my two watches.
I hear you, man! Same here! I also miss that ability (prefer the GT2 mostly). I think the perfect one would be WearOS with improvements + Transflective display + a week of battery. right 🙂?

Phenomenal device and great review, Micheal! This is the future that came to us now! I do not think that any smartwatches without google map, google pay, google keep have any value! Does this device have a google keep version? I personally prefer right-angle displays but functionality of this device is excellent! Why do you think that Tizen OS better?
Man, I haven't been around in the comments for a while and was a little concerned not to see you around. But then noticed some activity on facebook and was relieved. Hope that you and family and friends are alright! And yes - it supports google Keep too! As for TizenOS - I don't know... Yes - it is more polished, and the Galaxy Active has better battery life. But the Ticwatch Pro 2020 was the first WearOS device I actually liked...

Hi. Great video, thank you! I just purchased one of these, my first smart watch, a few weeks back, and was wondering if you could answer a couple of queries? I've been trying to decide on a watch face, so installed a few apps, mostly though I've been looking on Facer. I'm having a problem though in that any Facer faces that I install and try don't seem to work with the step counter or HR sensor. They just don't seem to show heart rate or step info, with the numbers on the face showing as 0. For that reason I keep going back to one of the few preinstalled faces that came with the watch as heart rate and steps work fine on those ones. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Could you also please tell me how to track my sleep?
SOmetimes the third-party apps need access so that they show such data. For sleep tracking - I remember there was one of these apps shown in the second half of the video.

2020 doesn't support SpO2. But is still a good device.
Great Video! I have a question: is it possible to use Spotify on the Ticwatch without using your smartphone?
You will still need to somehow give it internet. If you are around a WiFi - it will be fine, but otherwise better have your phone around.

The Amazfit Stratos 3 is good about tracking sports and has Soccer modes.
I wish they had either either the crown to move the screen or a rotating bezel because when your hands are sweaty it's hard to do anything

Improvement is not that huge. Better wait for smartwatches with the new 4000 series Snapdragon.

Each one of these models will fulfill your needs; The Galaxy device is the most polished one; The GT2 is the battery life champion, and the TicWatch Pro is the best WearOS device at its price point.

Displays of both are very sumilar. The Pro has speaker too. The C2+ is more stylish.
Do you know if it is possible to use it without phone? Also connection with bluetooth headphones. And what do you think of the health risk?
You can use it without a phone, but you need such for the initial setup and overall - it is kind of tough to use it that independently.
How is the watch after one year? I realy want to buy it, I found a renewed one at 90 euros, but some reviews are stopping me
I'd definitely go for the 3rd generation because of the faster CPU.
3 questions; 1/ how accurate is the step count? 2/ how accurate is the heart rate checking? 3/ is there a badminton exercise?
1. It is surprisingly accurate! In fact it showed me that the Magicwatch overcounts the steps by around 15% - I used both Mi Band and a Garmin Vivoactive to make sure values are correct. 2. also good. It showed well the deviation during sports - so I think it is trustworthy 3. Not in the TicSports app - but there are third party apps that might have badminton.

Can you install standalone Android apps (not Wear Os) from Google Play. F.e. Shazam, Viber, Dropbox, Chess, etc.? If so, does the 400*400 pixel screen fits those apps, so we can use them as on Android phone.
yes, there are some apps which can be installed. Not sure if you can have Dropbox and Viber - they should have a WearOS version.
@@TechMishkaactually 400*400 pixel screen can handle those applications, but wear Os (or Tizen, o LiteOS) simply won't allow you to install them. Those apps can only be installed on Android based watches, like Nougat. I think it's because of a possible negative affect on vision in a long term.

How long does the battery last on this thing, on average before you have to charge it? More then a few days or what? I have a few smartwatches, but I've noticed the Huawei GT2 battery lasts FOREVER! Even with everything mostly on, so I'm curious to know how the Ticwatch holds up to that.

@@TechMishka Geez :( Yeah I'll pass. My Huawei GT2, while not as capable as the TicWatch, last like 30 days without needing to be charged, and I have a full android watch that lasts for like 7 days no charging needed. 1 day... they gotta step that up :(
I'd love to see a hybrid amalgamation of the TicWatch Pro 2020 and the AlpinerX. I'd pay the sum of their prices. Probably wouldn't be space in the case, bht it'd be a fine watch if they could make it.

And still the winner is....the Huawei GT2 for me. Intensive usage leaves me 10 days without rebooting. If I don't do much with it....16 days!! Also the design.... unbeatable.

I've had mine for about 4 days so my opinion is based on my limited experience. That said, I love the hardware but hate the software. This watch would be a 10 out of 10 if it were on tizen. On the crappy Android watch system, not so much. That might be based on the fact that I had a Gear watch 4 about six months. I am trying to give it a fair chance but gear OS is just not up to the challenge. Please, please, please, please work something out with Samsung to allow use of their operating system
You seem to got used to the Tizen OS. GIve yourself some time, and it will feel better. Overall I have similar opinion to yours and I hope Google will wisely integrate Fitbit ideas in their OS 🙃
Tizen had such limited apps, many which are just horrible, I got rid of my Galaxy Watch 1 after owning it just one week this month

From Amazfit, well yeah you can call etc, but still no google pay ( and never will), no proper apps, try send facebook instagram messenge on your watch( not respond) well yeah i understand that if it would be proper smartwatch not a "smartband PLUS" battery life would be similar to wear os devices..

I said it is not - unfortunately. But the 3100 is not that much better than the 2100. Sadly we haven't seen good enough improvements about these processors' performance.

Dont trust these reviews too much, i bought my previous version Ticwatch Pro based on these reviews as they all praised it, but none of them mentioned that the watch becomes laggy quite soon, and in reality... it bacomes unusable after just a few days.... as every time i started to to do anything on the watch i always had to wait 5 sec fot it to react, is really annoying, a restart helped a bit but not for too long and you can not keep restarting your watch 5-10 times a day. I did factory reset as well many times but it remained way too laggy and unusable.
Attila - very much agree with your statement. I claimed the same in my video of the Ticwatch: kzhead.info/sun/YL1pntWCmHiMnqM/bejne.html Truth is that it's not the watch - it's the combination between the resource-hungry OS and the so outdated chipset. The 1GB edition is way better, I think you may like it. Ticwatch have very liberal return policy - in case you don't like it.
