The older I got the more I realised Barcelona betrayed Figo. Football is a job and if your not respected or your true value is not recognised you need to leave because the company/club will replace you within a minute remorselessly. Look at what Barcelona did to Rivaldo barely a year and a half later. Disgraceful treatment. They bought LVG and got rid of their best player. What about their treatment of Luis Suarez? Figo was incredible at Barca and he was valued. But the fact is they could of paid him higher wages. They only decided to match his wage demands once they discovered it was Real Madrid who came in for him. So it was more to prevent Real from signing him rather than actually wanting to keep him.
and to insult to injury. figo, rivaldo left barca and look what happened. 2002 figo ucl win with real madrid and 2003 rivaldo ucl win with ac milan!

Figo left the club because the new president made a deal with him. If he won the election, figo would go to Real Madrid. He accepted this deal because he thought there was no way that Madrid would elect a new president. If figo broke the deal, they would have to pay either 19-21m I don’t remember the exact number. Barcelona thought about paying it but they didn’t want to pay Madrid to keep their own player.

Real Zaragoza fail to promote to La Liga due to their top striker loan ended, harming their playoff match performance. And this happen at 5th August. Real Zaragoza even tried to sue the Spanish FA. Messi then on 25th August made publicly he was betrayed by the president, lies about he could go a year prior to his contract ends. Barca then claims that the agreement already expired at June. Well, well, well. By noticing the Real Zaragoza case, Messi clearly misleading the public by saying he WAS BETRAYED. Messi was just trying to make up the reason for leaving Barca. And clearly he was upset by the Bayern defeat. Why? As matter of the fact, he could leave for free at June which he didn't, because he knows he got no reason to grab for jumping ship so suddenly. Messi knows he would be accused as traitor, and all his contributions at Barca would become no acknowledgment. Messi had history of tax evasion, had his Dad working as his agent. When being accused for tax evasion, his dad stated Messi learns nothing as he's always the one who's handling Messi's financial matters. Messi's Dad is not a fool, does anyone believe Jorge Messi can't figure out when's the contract end? If Messi is loyal to Barca, Jorge Messi could renew contract for Messi during the entire year, not after Messi become a free player nor after the La Liga salary cap reformed.
