And have even been shown personal images from a customer with 20+ in the rat version. I'll verify they work great for how simple they are. And a fun fact, the Rat and Squirrel trap work differently from one another, due how rats and squirrels interact with objects and such.

  • Hi Shawn, I own the RatInitiator. It works good for big rats and squirrels and has a trap door in the center to put the food. The only problem is, is that small rats and mice can fit through the cage. The mice would go into it and eat all the food in the food area and then leave the trap. also medium mice go in to the trap through the door and would try and wedge there bodies out of the cage and get stuck and die. Then I would have to cut them out which was not fun. I got tired of doing this so I wrapped the cage and tie wired 1/4" mesh grid fence on all sides and now I catch tons of Mice Rats and Squirrels. A lot of the times I catch all three. Since i did that its the only thing I use on the ranch and even better the food never gets eaten because they can not access it. I thought you would like this. I watch your videos all the time.

They chew on wires and they destroy my heirloom tomatoes. Of course i am talking about vampires. Vampires are a huge menace and when they get into a barn They cause so much damage. So we will be using the Maskall deadfall mousetrap to catch these bloodsuckers. I want to have the last word on who drinks blood. Not the vampires. " (TBC next vid)

  • I bought two of these. Squirrels were getting into my garage and damaging my cars. These traps do work as advertised :-) Though I'd suggest that you set it on a plywood base to keep the bait dry when the ground gets damp, and a plywood cover to keep the bait dry when it rains. The squirrels also have a tendency to push the trap around trying to escape, so put a lip or wood tabs on the plywood base and top...

Seems they go for the same types of food, with the ground squirrels foraging produce falling from the trees, and don't seem to climb them.

  • Ok but most people have tree squirrels (like the gray squirrel)...does it work just as good on them as it does on the ground squirrel?

  • I think it would be good to make a small design change. Add a little tab to the hooks so that you have something to grab that's not right up against the cage. A little piece of the hook that bends AWAY at a 90° angle so your fingers aren't right there ripe for nibbling. Also, while maybe it could hold 25, i have a hard time seeing it actually happening unless there are pushers like those with the Tokyo subway system.
