Thanks Kimberley. Would love one with your opinion of different batting. Everyone has their favourite and why. hugs, Chel 🌸
Can’t believe I never thought to piece my border on the diagonal! Thanks for the great video.
Thank you for making this video. I already "knew "all of this, but it's great to have this reminder.
That was very thorough for being so quick!! Excellent job!🎉❤❤
I love your videos, Kimberly. I always learn something new and you don't just breezily pass over some areas that can trip us up; sometimes even sharing when you made a mistake so we don't repeat it. You and the Fat Quarter Shop are the best.
Great video. Also could add 5 th B. Batting😄
I'm so glad they are making 118" backing now. Sometimes 108 just isn't enough. Loved the video! Thank you Kimberly
Thanks again Kimber, always a pleasure to watch. You are to the point and explain things beautifully
What a nice surprise to find a mid week quilting video. Thank you, Kimberley.
I really like the Rick-Rack idea!
Thank you! I would love a quick tutorial for sewing the borders different ways .. straight seam and the picture frame style at the corners.
Helpful hints, thanks. I liked the explanation on backgrounds. Most patterns will say 'use this color' but not explain the reasoning behind it.
Thanks Kimberly for this very informative tutorial.
Great info! Thanks for the tutorial
I would love for you to do a video on how to keep your cornerstones perfectly lined up on a quilt with sashing.
This was an awesome tutorial! I have seen all of these but needed them compiled into one, for reference ♥️ thank you for everything you do!
Great information! I've been sewing for a few years and I'd never heard anyone explain some of those important quilt features.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for all of the information.
You both sound pretty good to me.
That was so helpful. Keep the videos coming.
Very informative, thank you 🧵
The scrappy brick house quilt looks so good assembled! I still need to quilt my layers, thanks for the motivation!
I agree ❤
This was great!
Excellent video😊 thanks for sharing your wisdom😊
The diagonal border seam was a oh my gosh… duh moment. Thanks
Very helpful. Thank you.
This information is great for any beginner…
Thanks for sharing an informative video.
This is very very helpful information. Thank you.😊❤
Great info, Kimberly! I loved that backing with the year on it! It would make a pretty bed runner or a table runner! I usually make my backing so it can be a reversible quilt. I would love to see more on how to seam backings and what measurements to use. Thanks!
Thank you for a very informative video!
Great tutorial Kimberly! Appreciate all the information.
Great overview for beginners! I’ll link to it!
This was very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! This was very helpful!
I love videos like this.
This is excellent information. I really appreciate your videos thank you Kimberly
Thanks Kimberly for Sharing such helpful information. I would like you to tell us how to do fabric color placement in various quilt blocks.
Thanks for all the information!
Thank you Kimberly for your great tips again. Clear & precise and so easy to follow! ❤
Lots of great info for beginners!!!
Thank you Kimberly. Great video.
Batting makes a 5th B. Thanks especially for the backing section 8:14
Great presentation 👏
Thank you!!
Thanks Kimberly!!! Love this!!! I'm still intimidated by piecing quilt backs before I send them to my longarm quilter. She's always so sweet and does them for me but I really want to get over this hurdle.
Have you tried using piping with your binding? It is a great finishing touch. Thanks so much for the wonderful video!
Loved this-thanks.
Great tutorial! Thanks
Thanks for sharing this information ❤❤
Very good information. Thanks
Thanks! Great Video!
Great lesson Kimberly! I'm glad I watched all of it. See you next time.
Wow thats deep !! 😊
Nice job on a quick video, Kimberly. Selecting background material for contrast would be great to take a deeper dive on. Thanks for considering all requests. I love Kimberly and the FQS crew! Cathy ❤
Thank you for these tips and know how. I noticed that economy binding was left off. It is useful on wall hangings and some other quilt types that don’t get a lot of wear.
Wow thank you so much I am a beginner quilter and that was very informative ❤ cutting and batting would be great subjects too because my blocks are always smaller then what the pattern ask for 😊
Fantastic video!
You have provided us with some wonderful and helpful tips. I will be watching again, so that I can take notes. Thank you.
Great video- thanks
I especially appreciated near the beginning you added popular thread colors/choices for the fabrics. It's so helpful as our local (17 miles away) quilt shop only carries spools that have 110 yards and the large cones as they sell longer machines also. My personal preference is Aurifil and have to order online. Colors can be a challenge at times ordering this way so info on the numbers is Very helpful. Thanks bunches for everything.
Bless spell check. Correction is they sell long arm machines.
Yes!! Thank you so much. I always join my borders with the straight seams... I need to try and remember the diagonal seam the next time! I just get in such a hurry that I want it done! 😃 Also, the pieced backing with the year on it is super cute & something I need to try the next time I make one for our bed! 🧵
Hi and thanks bunches for this video as it is a good review for me. I want to add a 'me too' after reading a comment. I have never thought of adding a border that is a diagonal. When I do work with areas of bias that may be a concern to me I prep my edges first. I use the tape that is marketed for butting pieces of batting together. I do this prior to cutting and so fat it has worked 💯 percent of the time preventing stretching. In this case if I attempt it, I would apply the tape to both sides of the border. Then immediately follow up and stay stitch.
Great examples.
Thank you so much Kimberly for sharing all the bees the four bees great job very informative❣️🧵✂️🪡💗💖💓❤️
Thank you Kimberly for this deep dive. I really appreciate your insights. Hugs from Minnesota.😊
Kimberley Thank you this was very helpful in finishing our quilts.
Thank you!
Great vlog Kimberly! I always love to learn from you. Using up my low volume scraps is my favorite background even though it's a bit more work. I also love to use up older fabric pieces from my stash and piece them together for a backing. This gives me more room to buy newer fabric. 🤣❣
Wow beautiful quilts and wonderful information thanks Kimberly😊
Thank you, Kimberly! Great information! I’m currently loving scrappy backings…😊
I made a quilt for my husband with a scrappy backing and he thought it was the front and preferred it.
Loved this! Lotsa great info! Thanks Kimberly!
Thanks for video. I would love to have some tips for backing with Minky or Minky-like fabrics.
Kimberly can you do a tutorial on how to enlarge pieces in order to trim down. I’ve come across patterns that come up too short (for me).
Where do you get your quilt labels-as was shown on the back of your quilt? Thanks for sharing!
Thank tou
thx
Wry nice! I would live to know how to use corporate prairie points into a binding. Also, have you ever done a crochet edge as a binding finish?
That was great. Thank you. I would love to see a video on sashing. I usually add the vertical strips between the blocks first. Then sew the blocks together I rows. Then I add a long horizontal strip at the bottom of each row. I have trouble lining up the rows so that the vertical strips match from row to row. Can you help?
Thanks!
You're welcome!
When you are sewing borders that are multiples, do you sew them all together before adding them to the quilt or do you add each border separately? Thank you for this video, very helpful.
❤
What is the pantograph used on the bow tie quilt? I love how it adds wonderful texture, but still lets the blocks shine!
Thanks FQS! RE: wide backings --- was told by a quilter that wide backings are not of the same quality as 44" wide quilting cotton because they are woven on a larger loom and do not have as tight a weave. Can you speak to any quality difference of wide backings vs. 44" wide quilting cotton?
💜☮️
Is it possible to add a border to an already quilted quilt ? It doesn’t have binding yet
Do you have one seam on the back or two?
👍👏🥰🌸🇦🇺
Would love to get names of all the quilts shown
Hello Gail! They are listed in the description box below.
Great video, thanks
