Making some new Leather Belts for My Daughter | Leatherworking

A couple years ago I made a leather belt for my Daughter. If you know anything about kids, they're always growing. That belt no longer fits her, so its time to make a new one. I decided to make her 2 different ones. They are the same size but will be set up with different buckles. She will mainly wear them in her horse shows and can switch them out depending on the class she's showing in. I made these from a single thickness of leather. Since they're mainly for show purposes I'm not worried about durability. To give them a little bling, I added some decorative rivets and shiny spots. These new leather belts turned out great and will soon find themselves in the show ring.

  • I want to do some leather work. It's just hard to figure out what to make if you don't know what leather to get if you can't see it. I don't have a leather supplier close to see in person what would work good. Houston is probably the closest place for me. Anyway Congrats on winning the buckle Hayley.

  • Hi Jeff, how do you sharpen your edge beveler? mine is a little dull :)

    • I use a piece of leather stuck into a table saw kerf on edge and pass the beveler across it. Thats hard to explain. Lol. I made a video that has the piece in it. I hope that helps. kzhead.info/sun/oKabebBuhYFmZIE/bejne.html

  • What are Chicago screws?

    • I should have showed them in the video. They're sort of like a rivet but are not as permanent. They have a screw that threads into the back. You just screw them together. They're super quick and make it really easy to take back apart.
