The Gen Z army fighting Myanmar's military dictator

Channel 4 News gains rare access to the Gen Z rebels fighting the military dictatorship in Myanmar and hears how the young fighters are willing to kill and die for democracy.
(Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Two years since the military junta seized power in Myanmar, a fierce guerilla war is intensifying as protesters, who pleaded for a return to democratic rule two years ago, have now picked up weapons to fight for their freedom.
Amid accusations of indiscriminate bombing campaigns, the regime doesn’t want the outside world to see what they’re doing in Myanmar but Channel 4 News travelled secretly into the country to speak to the young rebels.
We contacted Myanmar's military authorities requesting an interview or comment. We have not received a reply.

    • I totaly agree, I ahve wanted them to get help for a long time. I hope after Ukraine beats Russia the world can look at Myanmar. They deserve freedom and democracy. If any people stuggled and earned it it is them. On a strategic level its perfect as well, it is a great ally to have, its bordering China and can force china to take focus off its agressive xpansion in the Ocean and force them to think about defending land borders.

    • Do you really understand why this proxy war was unleashed against the people of Myanmar? It was anything, but what this very misleading video is trying to tell you. Put your heart back inside your chest, compassion from afar is a futile gesture. If you truly want to help, then your brain will be much more useful in saving innocent many people. Educate yourself, do your research, form your own opinion, then disseminate it. This is an information War. Read about the NED National Endowment for Democracy. It is connected to many things in the Philippines, EDSA 1986, The MNLF, and the Siege of Marawi, just to name a few.

  • It is a tragedy of human perception that we mostly focus our attention on one thing at a time, and with an ever dwindling attention span in an age of hyperinformation it is no surprise that this conflict has all but disappeared from the minds of most people outside of Myanmar, for their worries are on other, closer conflicts. So thank you for bringing this back to the forefront, for it deserves just as much attention as the war in Ukraine, rising inflation, and climate stickiness.

    • @@dadole9916verry true, but thats also why the Ukraine war has priority over any other conflict to western nations. The Ukrainian people where plunged in a war they never asked for because they wanted to ally more with western nations rather than Russia. And Russia responded with invasion. The west protested the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014 but did no more than that and hoped it would stay with that. Turns out it wouldnt. So now the west aids Ukraine. On top of that, Putin has proclaimed the west as his enemy and has often threatened with even nuclear weapons. He believes the west is the true enemy and that he's even already at war with NATO. So why shouldnt the west care for the Ukrainian conflict? And to be fair, the west is often accused of causing the roots of conflict in the world because of the colonosation era. Okay then lets stay out of conflicts if it doesnt have interest for us. Let people sort things out for themselves All symphatie for these brave men who fight for what they believe in. But sometimes you shouldnt stick your nose in somebody else's buisness

It's hard to tell what went wrong but as you can see at 5:30 the Bamars are now joining up with other ethnic militants and there is still trust issues amongst themselves. It's a messed up situation. SEA countries including China wants a peaceful and prosperous Myanmar. China has a lot of stake in Myanmar for their Belt and road. Pls don't confuse me for a Chinese because of my handle. I ain't.
