    • Pretty much in that order too. Even though I would put Neuer first. Kahn number 4. Would have been No1 had he won the 2002 WC. Golden Ball for a goalkeeper is immense.

  • Met Petr Cech at cobham in the summer of 2010 while on a training camp there. We were doing some shooting drills and I hit a really good strike that went in. And out of nowere you hear someone yell "i would have saved that" then we see it's Cech doing some rehab jogging around the facilities. A bit later he came over and gave our goalkeepers some advice and watched us for about half an hour or so and took some photos and had a chat overall being a top lad. Probably one of the funniest most genuine footballers i've met.

    • Shouldn’t need a “thanks” IMO. He more than deserves his spot. Personally I’d have De Gea over Courtois. I don’t know whatDe Gea did to offend Luis Enrique, but he’s still the best keeper Spain have despite not being capped since 2020. It’s farcical that he’s not even in Spain squads any more. If not for Casillas, he’dcomfortably be lauded as Spain’s best keeper in living memory.

  • I think Keylor Navas would feature in a top 10. His technique in nets is really impressive and what he’s been able to achieve is even more so when you take his height into consideration. As a GK, when I watch Navas the way he plays completely outdoes at the very least every other current Premier League keeper. You get a sense with every goal he concedes that nobody else would really be able to save it.

    @jamesboi2111@jamesboi2111 Жыл бұрын
    • IMHO, Keylor Navas is pretty much the Rodney Dangerfield of keepers. Arguably the best keeper EVER in CONCACAF, here's a guy who's won pretty much everything at club level, but keeps on getting pushed aside for the new-shiny even though at his current age, he's still a top-level keeper with at least two more seasons of elite-level play left in him. Don't get me wrong, Courtois was an upgrade at Real, but that's like upgrading from a Bentley to a Rolls. Or what have you. Navas landed on his feet at PSG, but again he got pushed aside for the new-shiny when PSG signed Donnarumma, and nothing against him, but Donnarumma's only advantage over Navas is his age, and now Navas is in a relegation scrap with Forest, and will be out of contract at the end of the season. If he chooses to stay in Europe after this season, I can't imagine he'll be out of contract for too long, even if it is just for another year or two. Oh, and for those who don't know who Rodney Dangerfield is, just search him on KZhead. Absolutely timeless comedy.

    • @@BroadwayJoe99 Tell that to the Mexican media, they insist that Memo Ochoa from Mexico is better even though the most Ochoa has won is the Gold Cup. Those who live in North America know that the Gold Cup is worthless when only Mexico and the United States make the finals, sometimes in dubious ways **cough**MARK GEIGER**cough**. Ochoa has otherwise no accomplishments as big as Keylor's, who won La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Champions League and the Club World Cup on several occasions at Real Madrid, even though since joining Real Madrid, Florentino tried to pull the rug away from him. He played in three World Cups for Costa Rica (which is a record and includes the legendary quarterfinals run in 2014), and was even a remote contender to join Bayern München to replace the injured Neuer (before they decided on Yann Sommer). Hell, even before joining Real Madrid he got third place at the Club World Cup with his Costa Rican youth club Saprissa in 2005, the only Central American squad to accomplish this. The Argentine manager Ricardo La Volpe pointed that out recently. Keylor is indeed the greatest goalie of all time in CONCACAF. His age is catching up with him, and he could ironically join Club América (Ochoa's former team) in Mexico as he will eventually wind down his career, but his accolades cannot be denied.

      @bundesautobahn7@bundesautobahn7 Жыл бұрын
    • @@bundesautobahn7 Memo Ochoa is very good, but I wouldn't even rate him as the second-best active keeper in CONCACAF. IMHO, Andre Blake is better than Ochoa. A CONCACAF top three would be Navas, Blake, and Ochoa. At this moment I'm not even sure there's an active American keeper that could crack that top three, though I think Gaga Slonina could get there in the next five to ten years with enough high-level experience at club and International level.

    • @@BroadwayJoe99 If you ever got to know the Mexican media, particularly Fox Sports México or ESPN Deportes, they are very delusional, one of their reporters I feel is even racist towards Central America. And if you as a Mexican don't make it to the EPL or La Liga in Europe and end up e.g. "only" in the Bundesliga, you're labeled a failure by the aforementioned racist journalist, the same (also by the FMF and the clubs from Liga MX albeit more passive-aggressive by them) if after only a short time you return from Europe, you'd be treated as a disgrace. That mythical fifth match they always strive to make at each and every World Cup, they haven't reached it since losing to West Germany in 1986, not to mention that they didn't even make the fourth match in Qatar last year. People here in Costa Rica just shook their heads when the media in Mexico claimed Ochoa was better than Navas.

      @bundesautobahn7@bundesautobahn7 Жыл бұрын
    • @@bundesautobahn7 not true because for some reason many Mexican fans don’t rate Ochoa. In my opinion Ochoa is Mexico’s greatest but that’s because MX hasn’t had great GKs like that(as much as they’ll argue about it). But when talking about CONCACAF for me it isn’t even arguable, it is DEFINITELY Navas. No GK in the región has ever accomplished or even come close to what he has accomplished.

  • Hugely biased, but Claudio Bravo gets a huge honorable mention for me. He was a beast in Real Sociedad and if he had stayed in a smaller club rather than selling out to Barcelona and City and become a number 2, we would have heard more about him. Although by not appearing much in both of those clubs he was capable of carrying Chile to their two and only consecutive Copa Americas, which does say something about how good he is.

    @daarom3472@daarom3472 Жыл бұрын
    • To add some facts: In 4 seasons in the league he conceded 90 goals or about 0.5-0.6 per game. The next best team during that period (Ajax) conceded 154. Gomes was literally the difference during those 4 seasons. In 2007-2008 for instance Ajax outscored PSV by 29 goals but conceded 21 more.

  • Great video! I've always had a soft spot for goalkeepers in every sport that has them. Although Italy is a rival, Buffon is a player I've always admired. In addition to his skills, his longevity is truly amazing. He's the Oksana Chusovitina of football! Love Neuer. He is also extraordinarily handsome, and would definitely feature in football's fantasy boy band with CR7. Every football team I've been on, nobody would ever volunteer to be keeper for a half so the regular keeper could play out except for me. I got invited to goalkeeper clinics, but my parents didn't think it was a good idea. I'm a girl and professional football for women didn't exist back then in the dark ages otherwise I'm sure I would've been competition for these dudes. 😂 Well, if you read this far, I hope you had a good laugh, or at least that you rolled your eyes. Getting any form of exercise is so important these days! 😁🙌🙏

  • Rogério Ceni not even being mentioned in this video baffles me, hes only the keeper with most goals (131), 50 overall penalties saved (33 in game, 17 in shoouts), and was doing everything that Neuer does since at least 2003, in 2007 had a 988 minute streak without conceding a goal, has 1117 games for São Paulo FC (978 of wich he was the captain, both world records) and was the teams top scorer in 2005 [21] and 2006 [15] (in 2005 São Paulo won a treble with the State Championchip, Libertadores and Club World Cup, and in 2006 won the Brazilian League) also De Gea being on the list over Van Der Sar?????????

  • Fair enough. Though I’d have put Neuer on top spot. Kahn would have been #1 if we wouldn’t disregard his pre-2000 years, but even so, I’d move him up the list a little bit. Other than that, there isn’t much to argue about. Though maybe one could argue for Cech on third spot. Then there is ter Stegen who on pure quality probably should be in the top 7, but he was unlucky to have Neuer in front of him, so I guess he lacks the international successes.
