Pop funk is the trademark sound of a band that found its genesis in a North Minneapolis basement.
The Time, the band formed by Prince, racked up a number of hits in the early 1980s. But band members Jimmy Jam Harris and Terry Lewis were eventually fired by Prince for missing a concert because of a snowstorm.
The rest, as they say, is history.

Give me a break. The Time doesn't need to be compared to the Beatles. They're way cooler than the Beatles, and the Beatles copied Black music throughout their career.
The band is still together, unless The Original 7ven release a statement saying that they are splitting up indefinitely, then they are still a band. Jesse or no Jesse they are still a band.

I also think the second reason is that these had separate lives and businesses outside of The Original 7ven/The Time that mattered more than the band. And....last.....age factor. Older age = Different priorities. That's just my opinion.

In my opinion....I think there were various of reasons why The Original 7ven/Time split. The biggest issue was Prince's tight control of the name (The Time). The Original 7ven name holds no weight. It don't bring any memories....nothing. Everyone knows The Time name. And, Prince stopped them from using it. Plus, he refused to be involved in it due to he (at the time) didn't own the master recordings of The Time's released material.
Condensate excellent album, maybe their best. Reclaim the name Time, get another stankin funkin, sexy blazin lead guitarist for Morris to play off of (except for Keef the Stones have been through many guitarist, no big loss Jessie don't want to be there hey keep on stroking fellas. You guys should be getting that rock and roll hall of fame mention. Good Luck. I'm listening for you.
still trying 2 figure out y M changed the name (back then) 2 Morris Day and the Time (Ego). It would not have happened if Jimmy and Terry were there at the time, and if someone else was n control. Morris has always been that way. Always thought he was the s... Extremely self assured. He can play drums, no doubt, but...................
2 answer ur Question 6 yrs later. it wasn't his ego it was because Prince owned the name the Time. so he went out on the road as Morris Day and the Time. when they got back 2 got her 4 the last time and recorded their 4 album they had 2 go by the name the original Seven because they couldn't record as the time because Prince owned the name and wouldn't let them use it SMDH
