Daniel Schmidt from Deer & Deer Hunting joined Jared and Jeremy for the 45th episode of the HUNTR Podcast. With the start of November, the guys were wanting to get the scope on D&DH's rut predictions. The guys would go on to talk about the social stress that deer encounter; whether that is from a large number of does or bucks. It's November, which mean gun season will be starting up, the guys discussed camp traditions that revolve around gun seasons. Join in for another great podcast with another great guest!

HUNTR is the project we should have started years ago. It's our excuse to work less and hunt more. We're not the world's greatest hunters by any means but we're not afraid to get aggressive and learn from our mistakes. From northeastern whitetails to western muleys, we're dreaming up hunts, putting in for tags, finding ground, and doing everything in our power to get it done.
Podcasts drop Tuesday nights, season 1 drops fall 2021, & there's merch in the store if you dig our stuff!
We want to hear from you! Whether you've got a story to share, a question for the guys, or want to tell us what we're doing wrong, it's all good.

  • Great podcast again! I am still a skeptic of the red moon, but I killed a great buck in Greene County, Indiana on the 7th. It was the first day of a red moon cycle, so there may be something to it. He is being scored this week and has 22-24 scorable points. I mention the county because you have mentioned leasing land in the adjacent county. Good luck this year!

  • I think having a late summer BBQ with friends and neighbors would be a nice way to bring back the deer camp feel. Everyone bring their bows and targets and setup a archery course just for fun. Maybe sight in the rifles. Have some cold beer and some steaks on the grill. People can just hang out, talk strategy and share trail cam pictures of deer they are hunting.

  • Howdy y'all from eastern Ohio. It's been ruff here, low deer density on public land and really warm temperatures. I have access to private land but I really like the challenge. Had to move stands because of other hunter intrusion changed movement of two different giants that I've seen early season glassing. Cold weather just got here so I'm hoping things turn around.

  • Great episode again. Each state has so many rules it's hard to keep up when hunting multiple states. VA allows any landowner and their spouse and kids to hunt without a license on their land. I live in TN but can travel across the line to my land and hunt it without a license. TN requires those non-resident landowners to buy a license to hunt their land. VA governs their wildlife with general assembly every odd year. TN has a wildlife commission that determine the rules from the TWRA group. TN general assembly doesn't dictate the rules for hunting.

  • A land owner in OH does not have to have license or deer tag for deer. You do have to follow the county rules for number of deer and you are responsible for reporting your kills to "tag" your deer.

    • So I was thinking it said that’s true as long as the landowners home state allows Ohio non resident landowners to hunt without a tag. I don’t think Pennsylvania does but not sure!
