this video basically sums up what it's like being a human, especially with mental health problems or addiction. The car represents the mind, the guy is actually his True Self under the mask of social conditioning, traumas, mistakes that put a tape on him and he keeps making choices that ruin people's lives (the people he ran over), he is not in control of his mind, but his True Self is screaming and trying to get control over the car. This is painful to watch... One of the best videos and songs ever made.

Sometimes you just feel like you're on the wrong side of everything. And that is the exact void this song is filling. Thank you Depeche Mode.
Actually in the lyrics he never literally mentions the phrase "I'm wrong", it's talking about wrong decisions, happenings and accidental coincidences in general, being right or wrong is only subjective and therefore the idea is an illogical fallacy, you take wrong or right decisions based on previous information that was predetermined/existed before you, that means "you" are not the "owner nor creator" of any facts, so it's more like "i took a good/bad decision based on X (or none) info. which affected my action final result", you are obviously still responsable for embodying that but it's not an individual fact that "can only affect you and no one else ever", every decision is always 'one of the' objective factual possible paths to follow inside a certain situation and that 'path' is actually the one that's right or wrong in every single case, the person is simply 'unconcious of the facts/ignorant' or 'not cold enough', which means nobody is ever individually right nor wrong in that over-simplified and conflicting way of thinking it, this is the perfect song to explain this hah, cheers. Edit: So it's basically detaching your 'self' or 'ego' from the concepts of 'knowledge' and 'decision', consider that most of the time when people use the 'you're wrong, i'm right' statement, it's all very emotional, it's an 'ego battle' on who wins the temporal situation, who's the owner of the knowledge and the imaginary competition, a territorial animal thing, which is irrational and useless to begin with, see how sometimes they can't have even find a single argument and then turn it into a 'personal attack', becuase the only thing that determines what 'is' and what 'is not' is 'objective evidence', therefore we, the 'living beings', are irrelevant to the facts, as they are not optional.

Coming from a good home with a nice childhood, everything I touched in my adult life, more or less turned out wrong. Things I did wrong turned out terrible, things I did good went to bad or fell apart. I paid every mistake I ever made, even those that I wanted to hide, shrug and move on. Those that other people just live like nothing happened. I paid it all. Honest to a fault, no drugs, no misbehaving, no affairs, just wanting to live a simple life. And finally when I thought I got something stable, finally thinking I was holding my life in my hands, it went for the worse. Thank you Martin on this song, thank you DM for being there.

Bei drei so individuellen Typen wie Martin, Dave und Fletch kommt es zu einer hohen Schnittmenge mit den Lebenserfahrungen der Fans. Außerdem: So unterschiedlich sind wir Menschen nicht. Bestimmte Punkte im Leben durchläuft fast jeder. Womit ich die Besonderheit der Musik von DM in keinster Weise klein reden möchte. Ich weiß sehr gut, was du meinst. Aber ich hab Fans von Take That oder Backstreet Boys schon ähnliche Sätze sagen hören. ;) Keine Seltenheit, wenn dich Bands ein Leben lang begleiten und du schon sehr jung von ihnen geprägt wurdest. Just finished Depeche Mode concert at Las Vegas T-Mobile Arena… WOW!!! What an experience! This song live was something else!!!
i was there too. i traveled solo by bus from Hermosillo to Las Vegas. 13 hr drive, but it was worth it. second time i get to see them live, saw them on the global spirit tour in phoenix september 27th 2017. they played this too. Depeche gave me courage to travel solo twice, since i don't have friends to tag along that like Depeche as much as i do too. this is how powerful and meaningful is to me. lost three close friends last year as well. the guys that glued everyone together. recent album was the message i needed to have a personal catharsis and meaning to cope with grieving. my condolences to Dave and Martin for an irreparable loss as well. Memento mori isn't the album want: is the album we need. plain and simple
Omg yes! I saw them a couple nights later, in San Antonio. (About a 9 hour drive from where I live in central Arkansas, outside Little Rock.). If I had the money, I totally spend it to go see them in Europe (probably Germany; European crowds just seem more into it, overall. Way less of them just stuck behind their phones all night like here. But so far from what I’ve seen and the general consensus of others is the San Antonio had the best crowd overall. Way more people up dancing and singing along the whole time.

In my opinion this one of the best DM songs. Probably the best DM video too. I’m happy the video is back on YT. I have the doubles disc version of SOTU that came with music video and interviews. Sadly I don’t have DVD player anymore. I remember the first time seeing it. It was pretty freaky. Still gives me chills to this day.

Mr. Gahan, You were my favorite when I was growing up. I was born in 1971, so just in time to grow up with your music, parallel with you, so to speak. You're music, as with many here in these comments today, is a part of us. I was looking back on some songs from the past, which led me to "Work Hard" and "New Life", then I came across "Wrong" one of your more recent songs, and it seems when you examine all of your songs, they all seem to point to something deep within you... an inner spiritual struggle, trying to do the right thing, you want to do the right thing, but every time you try the wrong thing comes out, something is holding you back. You see a path you wish you could take, but it's as though your hands are tied, and perhaps you feel you've reached a point of no return, having spent your life idolized by many, while the path you should have taken seems to be passing you by, leaving you behind. I believe in Jesus Christ, and it's never too late, Mr. Gahan... Knock and the door shall be open, seek and ye shall find. This is one train you don't want to miss. From the 80's to now, your life has passed by like a blur, I know it has for me... but it's not too late, as long as there is breath in your lungs, there is always hope, remember when you made the statement, "For the first time in my life, I realized I wasn't immortal!" You can be... and all you have to do... If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved!" You don't have to jump over any hoops, Christ makes it simple. Read His Word, and drink from the Water that He offers, and you will never thirst. Peace, Mr. Gahan.... I hope in some way this brings you peace. The kind of peace you can keep!
