tom mboya/muthurwa areas hailesslasie...what a dump ..filthy..forgotten
I like the way you are painting the city as it normally is, no filters
Very chaotic I regret ever visiting Kenya..never will I again..never...pride of Africa my foot
My friend someone should have told you that when you visit Kenya, you DO NOT go to Nairobi. There are so many beautiful places just outside Nairobi, beautiful greenery, walks, nature. Next time don't go to the city. I rarely ever go to the city, there is so much more out there.
I feel sorry for those who live in the city under chaos. Got tired of it and relocated to my home county where I work remotely.
Same
These are the kind of disorganisation that Gov Sakaja likes in the name of promoting local businesses.
This not only on Sakajas shoulders. There was someone before him ....
It began way way ago,you can't pin it on Gvn Sakaja's head man, even the person you think is favourite can not fix it back,we just have to live with it
@@RKBro-jr1ts Not true, if someone organized and no nonesense can take over who doesn't fear being branded a hater of small businesses can take over, the ess can be sorted. But I don't believe that person is Miguna Miguna.
@@ebenezerodeyo4532 no way,you think Nairobi started existing today, this city is runned by cartels and even mike sonko admitted it
It can be done by just a little bit of orderliness in the CBD.He need to work on the markets in the estates to accommodate those hawkers and come up with ways of controlling traffic jam.By doing that he will have solved almost 70 % of the problems talked about because there would be few gabbages blocking the drainage system and making the cbd filthy.
Nairobi should be like Washington D.C..We don't need a governor...KDF wanatosha..
True. The only time Nairobi had some decency was when we didn’t have a governor
are you sure we don't need a Governor? Who will be doing business in the city?
So because WDC do not need a governor,it should be like that everywhere?Come on you can't compare the two cities in any aspect, let's not lie to ourselves
@@RKBro-jr1ts you wouldn't understand..Let me save you the trouble
@@Honest_Man Please can you educate us on how Washington D.C is managed?
From moi avenue all the way to kamukunji is a mongiki based business....led by gachagua who will not try to take the menace from CBD.....uptown is totally organized but downtown is meant for the poor and thug life family
True . Sakaja tried to bring the city inorder he was stopped by gachagua
This has nothing to do with Gachagua ,it has everything to do with politicians ,this nairobi mess has been with us for decades ,it will only end when a no nonsense Governor decides to act or bring in the military to run the city ...we are dirty n we thrive in a chaotic environment...we can learn alot from Rwanda.
Beautiful Journalism especially at a time when mainstream media isn't producing much great content. This gives me major nostalgia for back when I'd watch this kind of show with my parents as a kid.
"City is run kiundutho" Hon KJ
I think Nairobi should be governed by the president coz these Governors are doing our capital city dirty. Its sooo bad to the point that Mombasa and Kisumu hell even Nakuru are 10 times better than our capital
Mombasa is equally horrible
Now this is the real Nairobi. Hizo zingine ni uongo mingi.
Exactly
Nairobi is one of the most disorganised city in the world. If you compare with Darsalem you have BRT modern inter City bus and up country terminals Kigali the same but better organised Morocco Algiers the best. The billions lost in bench marking and city planners paid salaries with no results.#Nairobi railway city, BRT, tramps, will bring change.Thank you for this report l hope it will awaken the regime at city Hall and statehouse. TO save Nairobi and. kenya.
I watched this on my phone but have to watched it again on my 4k UHD flat screen. The images are unbelievable stunning. Good job Sir👍👍
Great Analytical incisive Documentary...Nairobi needs KDF just the way Uhuru Kenyatta installed😊😊
If the rules at tatu city can be implemented in town mambo inaweza kua shwari
underrated journalism.
The urban developer guy - Evans Ogachi added such brilliant ideas & commentary.
Thank You.

Leaders need to held accountable. Kindly do a series on the state of our markets (Muthurwa, Marigiti, Street food vendors... zote zote) Please highlight the need for food safety - the recycled "uhuru bags" that find their way back into our markets. Keep up with the awesome job you're doing 👏 🎉
Actually visiting NBI gives me a headache. I love my city Nakuru
I was there in 2007 and stayed for 3 months. What I witnessed in those 3 months made me never go back to Nairobi. Its a chaotic city in every sense of the word.
SO WHERE are you now-iraq?
@@Rasira2023 I'm in London UK
what did u witness that made u never to go back?
Same chaos I witnessed in the video
"City of Chaos" yes I agree, mainly because of the disorganized and lack of traffic management. Nairobi needs a well organized transportation system like those found in Kinshasa, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Tanzania. A well organized bus system will replace the matatus and boda boda...hence less hectic and chaotic mess. Thanks for sharing, great documentary👍
This cant happen coz the cartels that own the politicians own the matatu business, and bodas were allowed to multiply and take over. Messed up country
I agree with you. However, it's 2024. We need to consider other modes of mass transportation like underground trains (metro or subway). I wonder how a city like Nairobi lacks a metro system over 60 years since independence.
@@BensonNyasae Yes, definitely a great idea
This madness must come to an end
Law enforcement is the way to tame the nonsense. But it is hard to enforce the law in a country where a few elite enjoy impunity to KILL AT WILL or LOOT & GRAB as they WISH.Or what can you say about savage Raila being paid shs 50b. to stop killing Kenyans? Why should DPP/IG chase traffic police or title deeds handlers or passport clerks yet Ngîna family/Uhuru are/is being worshiped for stealing shs 630-EUROBOND & COVID loans on top of shs 7.3t.(shs 2b.daily) in his 10 year presidency?A big shame arresting a sub chief shs 500 bribe yet jambazi Wanjîgî has led other elite gangsters in 15% illegal brokerage on every government procurement.
I agree. We should find a way
@@KenyanHistorianwe start by rejecting leaders using opposite lanes
Politics & cartels have ruined Nairobi. The city is lawless, chaotic & congested. Nrb doesn't need a political governor but a career manager. With NMS Gen. Badi out the best bet would be the No- Nonsense firebrand Miguna Miguna. Who knows where MM disappeared to ??
I want to visit and see the chaos for myself❤
Enock Sikolia you are the best i love your Documentaries...!!
Born and grew up in Nairobi when it was organised and clean not chaotic and overpopulated like it is today.Watching from Dubai UAE 🇦🇪🇰🇪🖤
Same
Congrats for this; I loved watching it live till the end; KEEP IT UP
Thanks George. Much appreciated sir
I was born and bred in that city and I knew every nook and cranny before l left in 1979. I can hardly recognize it now. There were few people then and the daytime population consisted of Africans, Indians, and a few whites. Nairobi now looks very foreign to me from what I am seeing in this video.
Where are u now
USA
I never thought it was a problem until I moved to Europe and saw how organized the cities are. Nairobi is just unnecessarily crowded and loud
I know right
The guy guy who gave you the idea of the city plan .... please mueke Kwa program
Inaitwa kanairo ...shamba la mawe....tao kwanza.....cBD ...it man for himself and GOD FOR US ALL... GOD BLESS KANAIRO ...GOD BLESS KENYA...❤❤❤❤❤
Thankyou for helping the young man with a disability to cross the road safely...that touched me, what if we got together to provide a wheelchair for him,?changing one life at a time.
One thing. About Nairobi is that there are no litter bins. You walk miles with your litter in hands
THOMAS ODHIAMBO MBOYA [T.O.M]
You should cover Eastleigh it’s the chaos area in Nairobi
I love this, how the story is well narrated , Tells it all about our capital city Change begins with us Especially making Nairobi tidy avoid littering
Nairobi need a dictator governor
It doesn't need a Governor. It needs NMS and that military man back as soon as possible.
😢 homesick!! Great content 🎉
Most chaotic town i agree
These streets are THE BACK STREETS of Nairobi that you avoid like the plague. Even 15 years ago I would never go anywhere close to these areas so I can imagine what it must be like today.
How is Tom Mboya a backstreet surely? It's actually the biggest entry into the CBD...So review your definition of a backstreet Lulu
This city needs change
Madness it is!!!!
No decent person will venture in a city like Nairobi
However Nairobi also has very organized sections West of moi Avenue
Decent people are venturing in indecent areas of Nairobi😢
My beloved city ❤❤❤
Very chaotic and dis organized
Nairobi has a political problem...Governor cannot completely chase away the chaos...,as the chaos makers are most of his or her vote constituents.....Nairobi either remains an autonomous county governed by the national government or go burst...but there is a little bit of hope..,satellite cities in kiambu ,machakos and kiambu are coming up....Konza and Tatu city so far will be an aboard of tranquility for civilised folks...hawkers and chaos will soon have privilege of Nairobi
Sasa unaongea vitu akuna...where is the hope...
Amazing 😍😊👏
Vyenye huwa nasema nairobi ni slums tu
Such a great video. Of all the major streets in Nairobi, Tom Mboya is the most chaotic!
Kenya itakaa kama India tusipochunga. Uchafu na congestion
Ishakua India
Great idea how chaos its realy nbi center i do appreciate ur help and i suport u guys keep going n rolling
Kinshasa,Lagos,Cairo having the same problems👉 limited road infrastructure and lack of traffic management resources. What you see here in Nairobi is nothing compared to Lagos,Nigeria with a population of 22 million which is now pushing towards the creeks and land reclamation from the sea to ease down the chaos.Nairobi can overcome this with the right urbanisation policy in place but this will cost money....a lot of money.
Why do you casuals always have to bring up other cities or countries whenever there is some criticism about Kenya or our city....? Like 'Why you beat your wife?'' ...''Oh, my neighbour beat his wife too and even in America I saw a man beat his wife''.....STOP IT! We are a country that had the largest economy than South Korea in 1978 and even gave them a Loan back in the 70S AFTER TO RECOVER FROM THE WAR(GOOGLE IT) Why not compare Kenya and it's cities to that then ? We don't compare ourselves to mediocrity to feel better. Be smart
Yeah, bring Lagos/Nigeria into it just to make yourself feel better with the disaster that is Nairobi. Shirking your responsibilities and obfuscating is what you the rest of Africa are very good at doing. Whenever your short-comings are exposed, you all bring Nigeria/Nigerians into it even when it's got nothing to do with Nigeria/Nigerians just to deflect and take attention away from your problems. That's what you all do as fellow Africans, and that's why in the case of Kenya as seen in this video, you have that quotidian chaos that is the defining characteristic of that overrated/over-documented capital city called Nairobi. Lagos/Nigeria is doing fine. I would like to let you know. Lagos/Nigeria recognizes its problems and it's doing a lot to find solutions to those problems.
@@alexbanj7a7bc Sorry i am neither a nigerian or a kenyan to feel better either way.
@@TuneinR Yeah right. As far as cop out goes, that certainly is an epic fail. In any case, let's for the sake of argument accept that you are not Kenyan, whatever you are, the point stands as valid as it can ever be.
@@alexbanj7a7bc you are entitled to your opinion and i am under no obligation to agree.
Wow. the last part was so good, Sakaja should give that guy a job akuwe Traffic marshall
Amazing 🙌🏾 l love your videos keep up the good work
Thank you! Will do!
Good journalism. The appalling state of roads and pedestrian walks, garbage and dirty muddy roads is quite a disgrace
hawkers should be removed from cbd
Watimuliwe mbio....
I love ur vibe, straight from the heart, tell the world it's real out here🤞
Thanks Ken. Much appreciated sir
Lovely Kenyan documentary as always by a charming presenter
You have nailed it ....I was almost taking my iphone camera to document this ...The poor will always be cheated that this chaos is ok that business must thrive despite this chaos this is according to gachagua ,sakaja wanted to continue with NMS organisation but as you know the cartels ran to gachagua ...and that's how the plans were halted ....buses are not supposed to park on the streets but are required to transit through the streets .
Chaotic indeed
Keep up the good work
New theme..,''Nai Ni kwako.great documentary. Ninatazama kutoka Perth WA.
Human life means nothing to those people! very scary.
Nairobi needs governor Anyang Nyong'o this guy is no joke, hachezi strict kabisa
Good
We just get POLITICIANS out of Nairobi. Meanwhile it's a no go zone for me and my tribe. Wacha sanity yangu ikuwe extended kidogo.
kuenda tao hua chaotic and burdening
I never knew Nairobi is almost like Lagos 😂 thanks for showing this part
Kudos
Thank you so much
I think for Nairobi to work a couple of things need to happen: change its status from county to city, remove the governor and the county assembly, sack all county askaris, retire or sack individuals who've been there for more than 20 years, involve kdf and serious private partners. Once all this is done we can start afresh!
This madness started in 1990, 34 years later and this is the aftermath of poor urban development planning. Nairobi’s population in 1990 was 1.3 million compared to the current population of 5.4 million, it’s time for other counties to to be developed so that other services can be decentralized. The same system that works in the west. Though we have a long way to go.
Now you need to do another series of uptown Nairobi and compare the two.
14:11 😂😂😂 yayayaya
Bicycle lanes. Nakuru worked.
See, this is what these kenyan leaders don't understand or care to understand since they are personally not affected. When they ask Kenyans abroad to come back home, why would anyone come home with this madness- you can't drive without potholes, stima kupotea every second, if you walk they steal from you, traffic...oh my gosh...traffic. I was there 4 years ago and it took 3 hours from westlands to nairobi city center! I'm not even kidding you! Once you get used to being in a first world and not having to deal with extreme inconvenience, this then becomes intolerable...coz it's a choice...a choice of leaders
Great info 👍, but some people / leaders 🙄 like the chaos and mayhem, but as I always say, people and Kenyans deserve better, and they can change only, and when the system/policies change and everyone should and must follow the traffic rules, if not heavy fines to be implemented if rules are broken to hinder and stop all this huliganism 😢😮 it's a very sad state of affairs. ......etc...
The problem of this city is matatus for example super metro has new fleets on every street choking roads
You should get back to konza city we need updated story please
Nairobi is way too small ... we're talking of over 700Km2 serving 5million people ... and a density of over 7000 people per square km that's insane... in kibera alone there are 300,000 inhabitants per square km ... the city can't absorb all these people yet the boundary is not being expanded ....the NIUPLAN 2014 used to expand Nairobi has to be implemented as quickly as possible otherwise all other interventions won't work effectively ... eg affordable housing , expressway,BRT etc
Again I feel like a big city like Nairobi can't be fully run by a governor it's too much to bear ... maybe sakaja should just be collecting revenue , garbage and feeding children ... the rest we need the national govt ...to sort out hawking and matatus , build designated termini in regard to the NIUPLAN , rejuvenate downtown etc
Kuna city inaitwa Dhaka huko Bangladesh very dirty na chaotic Nairobi inafuata nyayo, ati hii Kenya Kuna watu wamesomea urban planning what an irony.
Bure kabisaaa
The chaos became normal, order is a foreign concept to us... How unfortunate
Interior Ministry, Nairobi county, Urban planner need to change and create proper administration. If Nairobi is made, Kenya is made
Does it trouble anyone that Jubilee govt spent millions building a bus station huko uhuru parks, and years later after its completion no vehicle uses it? yet we still struggling with chaos in CBD? Kenya is a funny country.
Good Documentary love this keep it up
Fastest growing Yes. Beautiful city Yes. Historical city Yes. BUT - what is desperately missing from the onset is Organized Urban Design and Infrastructure. With the current floods this country is presently facing, upgraded water pipes, infrastructure, drainage , traffic redirection, overhead walking for pedestrians, central location for all bus pickups, sidewalk and street repair is desperately needed. Hopefully it will be implemented soon.
Over population, bad town planning, high rise buildings in one place causes chaos in most African cities..... A lot still needs to be done but its still a beautiful city, i love the fact that you hardly see litre/plastics its fairly clean... Bus/taxi drivers are the same throughout the continent, rude and arrogant...
Now do one for the matatu culture
I’m here to say “capital ciny” lol Kanairo joh!
We are slowly turning Nairobi chaos to similar levels of Kampala 😢😢
Passenger pick up is the menace and hawkers.
gari iko na stima na maji...
omg i even feel stressed watching this

'Gari iko na stima na maji' 😂😂😂
Thats why we are marathon runners 😂😂
There are no traffic lights or any system to manage the public transportation system. Everyone is just trying to survive and do their best.
Hi Enoc, as you continue soaring, you realize we can do more intensive documentaries and with subtitles for a wider outreach worldwide.
Why do you despise your national language soo much.....
This nonsense needs to stop... Zebra Crossings, Disabled Spaces & basically health & safety regulations need to be put in place 😞
Try and watch old footage of Nairobis central district. From the 60' and 70'. Things were way mere organized at that time. I hink you can guess why Yes, that was when there were still wazungu organizing things. Sadly, Kenyans have been unable to follow in their footsteps.
