  • Hello Ryan, great effort as always ! but i have a question, could u tell why we use power arms in sliding mechanics and why the loops in space closure when we already have a two point contact to counter root movement? it's been bugging me and a mere textbook is not helping in understanding this, i'd be grateful if u could help. Thanks

    @fizzahikram5977@fizzahikram59772 жыл бұрын
    • Power arms are used because the point of force application is brought closer to the center of resistance so there is less tipping as a side effect when closing space. Closing loop archwires are used as an alternative method to sliding mechanics for space closure (elastomeric chain, NiTi closed coil spring). The wire is designed to bind at the brackets and pull entire units of teeth together as the activated wire assumes a passive position after being stretched apart at the closing loop. Hope that helps!

  • Hi Dr. Ryan, in the video your example was doubling diameter. Could you please confirm this: if diameter is halved, strength is 8x less, springiness is 16x more, and range is 2x ?

      @TheSid00001@TheSid000013 жыл бұрын
    • @@TheSid00001 2x length means half the strength, 8x springiness, and 4x range.

  • Good day, I would like to ask about ; which one of these can present as anterior open bite with normal posterior bite (mouth breathing, tongue thrust or thumb sucking) , this question comes often in our License Exam but I am still confused . thank you

    @looolie111@looolie1113 жыл бұрын
    • That’s an interesting question! Mouth breathing and thumb sucking often lead to some form of maxillary constriction, so I would go with tongue thrust.

  • Dr. Rayan , What is the wire progression you use for most cases?

    @angelicafoster670@angelicafoster6703 жыл бұрын
    • Of course it varies case to case, but most of the time I go 014 NiTi > 018 NiTi > 17x25 NiTi > 19x25 TMA.

  • Sir I have one question... We apply torque in beggs appliance also, but we are using a round wire for beggs appliance and u said tht torque can not be applied by round wire.. So how come we use round wire in beggs appliance??

    @melodiousdentist6785@melodiousdentist67853 жыл бұрын
    • I am not too familiar with the Begg appliance, but it is very difficult if not impossible for a round wire alone to generate the moment of a couple I show in this video to apply torque. Round wires can tip teeth no problem, but torquing is a different story. You would need some kind of auxiliary wire or appliance like a Warren spring.

  • Whats the difference between between 012 wires 016 etc

    @Leep34@Leep343 жыл бұрын
    • Thinner dimension wires like an 012 (vs. an 016) are more flexible so they can engage brackets on teeth that start out very crowded. As teeth align and level, you can move up to heavier wires that have more diameter and strength. This is a very simplified explanation, but I would be happy to make more advanced orthodontics videos in the future for those who want it.
