Thank you for posting this video! As a Thai living in California I feel honored to hear all the great things about Thailand and Thai people. I too am thinking about retiring there in a few years. I hope you both continue to be very happy living in Thailand.
great stuff! i bought a 20 year thai elite visa back when they were more affordable. so glad i did! i get to just come and go as i please in one of my faves.
That's amazing! We've gone back and forth on it several times, and thought about it again with the exchange rates being good. Would love to hear your full thoughts on this. Still tempting to us even though we are over 50.
Where do you get that?
Thailand has some of the most friendly people on earth. They call it "The Land of Smiles" for a reason!
It really is
You guys are spot on about Bangkok.......Bangkok can be addicting!!! It is hot and humid so be prepared for that. The health and dental care are phenomenal. Actually you could get by for less than $2,000 per month .....
We love it there!
Bangkok is my retirement destination of choice. Thank you for confirming that I wasn’t wrong. 😊
Good choice!
WOW Thailand is very very beautiful. You've given lot of information. In next video can you talk more on saving on flight charges from USA to thailand by using airline points appropriately. Want to learn more on asian travel partners if any
I agree!
Thank for the suggestion, planning on it
Thanks for consideration. This is most expensive part of travel and info share will be very helpful :)@@GroundedLifeFinances
We are not ready for full time travel! However, your videos inspire us to explore! Thank you.
Awesome!
Thank You to provide very good information about Thailand. We welcome all of visitors and hope all of you have good vacation.
Thank you for the great info.
Our pleasure!
Loving your vibe! We are planning to retire to Thailand in June. You inspired us to get the IGH membership and credit card. You both are such an inspiration. Thank you for your advice
It was nice that you showed the name of the city on the screen. It would be nice if you did it for all items you covered. Thanks for the video
🔥🔥🔥YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!! Soo inspired by you both😊🩷!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much!!
I’ll be coming to Thailand in June, so I really appreciate all the helpful info. Thanks so much!
Have a great trip
Would love more videos about other areas as well. Thanks again!
Thanks
Great video! Im going to start researching Bangkok for a future scouting trip! 👍🏾
You should!
Now I’m in love!!! THAAAANKKSS! 🤣
Us too!
Well my husband and I must be living right… we’ve been talking about visiting Thailand for the last few days, and up pops your video! You covered mostly everything we’ve talked about except one: the stray dogs. Anything we should keep in mind?
Hello! Love your channel! Can you provide any details about the 1 year visa for over 50 years old please? Thank you!
Great great information. Now, all I have to research is where to dance/learn/practice my salsa and swing dancing.
I'm sure there is a place!
@@GroundedLifeFinances There is, I googled it 🤣.
Facebook is the best place to find local salsa info around the world in general (not sure about swing dancing). The group "Salsa dancing in Bangkok" is the most active.
Love all of your channels. Just got the IHG card any suggestions on leveraging it during a visit there?
Bangkok Central Pier Holiday Inn Express is in a nice area.
Thank you for responding.
Great video!! Did you do most of your research for the trip before you got there or did you learn some along the way? I am now VERY interested in visiting Thailand!! Thank you!
We learned a lot visiting over the years
I just really love your videos! The excitement you have for places is contagious 😊 Your smiles say it all!!❤
Thank you so much!!
I absolutely love Thailand!! I have been there many times over the years. The food, the people, the low cost, and what about those massages?
It's the best!
Curious if you had any thoughts about air quality/pollution there? Never been but after this video, I am adding it to my retirement bucket travel list.
Air quality can get bad. You can look it up online. Changes with season and intensity of annual field burning.
Great content! as the world crisis progresses the smartest thing people do lately is building a strong investment that isn’t controlled by the government. Like digital currencies.
Thank you! Please spell out the place names when you mention them. Frustrating to fail to sound them out-like “Jong Kien” beach area?
Crazy question. What does pound of ground beef cost in USD? Love your videos and I'm ready to go now! Just wish I could. Hopefully one day.
Local is quite cheap, $1 per pound, imported Australian beef is more, like $4
@@GroundedLifeFinances Wow. That is definitely a good deal. Thanks for the info!
My wife and I are huge fans of your global gallivanting; one question: how do you keep your internet costs low?
We pay $10-13 each per month for cell service through Airalo, other than that all the wifi is included
I'm wanting to go to Bangkok so bad thank you!!! Have you been to Korea? If so, how would you compare the two?
We have not, hoping to go soon. Just in looking it is more expensive.
Do you have to have health insurance in Thailand? If so, would you know where to purchase it? Thank you much.
How do you find the Airbnbs?
I looked at IHG hotel rooms in Bangkok in Nov 2024 and the two hotels I checked said “Rewards nights are all booked up”. It looks like this means I can’t use points or get every 4th night free. How common is this? Any tips you’d suggest?
Great info. Thank you. I have a few questions: 1. What's the comparison between Bangkok vs. Jakarta? 2. Is there a money changer inside the 7/11, or Circle K like that or a formal money changer is best? 3. Is Uber apps working there? 4. What's best to go between cities? Bus, train, or flying (Chiang Mai, etc or the islands, Khorabi, Koh Samui, etc). 5. Is it worth a trip with Vietnam & Cambodia? Thank you so much
1. Don't know how to meaningfully compare. 2. No, go to bank or SuperRich, in many BTS/MRT stations. Or use your debit card. 3. No, but you can use Grab for ridesharing and taxis. 4. Flying fastest and reasonably cheap. Trains slow and don't service the islands. Buses vary from old and crowded with no A/C to luxury tour buses. 5. Depends on what you like/want. I think Vietnam worth visiting.
@@gregjor thank you for your info
Funny how at Thailand's version of Target/Wal-Mart, the shelves are full, the aisles are clear, and the store is clean. U.S. Wal-Marts need to hire Thai managers.
It is nice!
Can you give the name & location of the dentist you have used
With the flight being so long from the US, did you book the lay flat seating?
We don't usually
Is it always hot and humid? I will try December through January, as you said.
Thailand has two seasons: hot and very hot. Cooler up north.
Thinking about slow travel SE Asia - if you were to split your time in SE Asia by percentage, how would you divide your time between Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia/Bali being slow travellers in your 50s & 60s? For example, 50% Thailand, 25% Vietnam, 15% Malaysia, 10% Indonesia/Bali. Would you ad the Philippines to the mix as well?
It would be about what you say, we would also add Japan for 10-15%. After seeing them all you'll probably drop your least favorite. A short time in Philippines would be great too.
Hey guys Would love to know if Thailand is known for Dental Implants? I need 2 individual teeth? I am currently thinking of having it done in the Yucatan in Mexico.
Yes, they are
Is pickleball leagues available there? We would be looking for 55+ Also you recommended beaches other than Phuket? Any reason why that is?
You need to fly to Phuket where as you can drive to the others
Don’t you ever get sick with street food? I have spoken to “people” who got sick eating street food. How do you not get sick?
We haven't ever
Lived here 10 years, never got sick from street food. We eat it several times a week.
I think the tourist visa duration has changed now, no? Initial is 60 days and then you can apply for a 39 day extension for a total of 90 days....
For the actual visa, but we are referring to visa free, you can just show up and get 30 + 30 which is much easier than getting an actual visa.
Please share the most reputable real estate agency you use to find an apartment or AirBNB. Also, what is the ceapest way to ship your stuff there? Thanks
I would not ship as they have very high tax be cheaper to buy what you need and 90% of the condos come fully furnished
🎉What about a reputable agency to find a a condo through?
👍🏽❤️👍🏽
When doing your shopping do you guys use dollars or local currency?
Local, we get cash there
Hi Folks! Love your video! I've begun my full time travel journey and am currently in Kuala Lumpur. Next stop will be Bangkok in May. I want to apply for the tourist visa from KL, then the one year Thai visa while in Bangkok, if I didn't want to move on right away. Is this possible? Have been reading that you need to be in your home country when applying for a tourist visa for Thailand. Actually have read conflicting messages online. Thanks for your help!
I see you are both coordinating M blue and gold. Intentional?
We didn't plan it, but nice anyway!
Great info! My wife and I visited back in 2018 but are now lotto come back for a month or two. What is your advice or do you have a video on how to handle your money? What credit card works, is having cash better etc. Thank you
You will need some cash, but we use the cards listed in the description there.
