What historians are referring to as Mongolian Empire, actually was a Russian-Tatar empire. Tatars are Europeans. Tatar ethnos originated on the northern coast of Black Sea.
Asia was colonized by Volga Tatars. Many Asian tribes in the process of colonization lost their languages and switched to one or other dialect of Tatar language. After the defeat in a civil war, an old regime horde moved to Central Asia and it also contributed to spreading of Tatar language into Asia.

I highly recommend Dan Carlins “Wrath of Khan” podcast if you’d like to hear in-depth about the mongol rise to power. 5 episodes and between 3-5 hours each. Great storyteller

I like Dan Carlin but he had some obviously biased takes that I noticed on that one.
One of the many things that was good about this video was the actual topic selection. Instead of trying to have a somewhat seamless chronology (which would have been impossible in 20 minutes) you picked out some of the most important things a generalist observer needs to know about the mongols. Choosing those topics and linking them without making them mere bullet points is a very difficult task and you did it extremely well.

Look up subutai and jebe. Part of Chinggis khan' success is cause of these two generals. They conducted the undefeated campaigns from India to Russia, Korea to Italy. Jebe was even an enemy of Chinngis khan and shot him in the neck. But instead of vengeance, Chinggis Khan chose to recognize his skills and character. Subutai outlived Chinggis Khan and even taught the later khans.
He only conquered north of Jin, Persia and west of Manchuria.
Subutai is considered by historians to be one of the greatest generals of all time. He was the chief military strategist of both Genghis Khan and his son Ogedei. The Mongol Empire is documented as the largest land empire ever. Subutai had a lot to do with this but history generally fails to properly give him the credit.

Meat-eating Mongols were probably a huge factor when Genghis Khan expanded his empire. Some historians discuss the fact that Mongol soldiers were superior to Chinese soldiers because the Mongols ate a diet with high-quality meat and fat, making them strong and healthy. The Chinese soldiers were fed mostly rice which made them weaker. Also, the Mongolian soldiers ate a lot of raw meat and did not have to prepare food during wartime, which also gave them an advantage on the battlefield.

That was not a raw meat, that was a “Borts” it’s cold air dried meat. Borts is more nutritious, and said to be tastier, than other modern field rations. There is an unconfirmed method from old times: Mongolian nobles relied on borts for months-long journeys. Dried carefully for three years and then ground into a fine powder, until it all could fit through a sieve. It further shrinks volume of the borts so whole cow's meat can fit into a cow's bladder. Just a pinch of borts prepared like this said to able to nourish 3-4 people in a soup form.
@@mekhzakhq976 Sounds like Pemmican that indians used to prepare in America. Many historians claims that Mongols did eat raw meat though. Somethimes they would take the raw meat and place it on the saddle of their horse and sit on it when riding. After a while the meat would soften up and became less tough to chew.

This gives a false sense of the world being in upheaval. Same for most of "The News": it's only "news" because it is not common: the exception rather than the norm. Believe it or don't, the world is more peaceful now, than at any time since the Pax Romanica.

I was wondering how a pastoral tribes conquered almost the world and finally I got my answer. They've been moving and living everywhere their whole lives which made them to cope with the situation to go on war for years as they don't have an specific home to miss or go back

Yeah, the fact that Mongolia invaded Russia in the midst of winter while Germany couldn't do it with MUCH more soldiers and industrialization more than half a thousand years after is astonishing. But Mongols were more wild, and their climate is closer to Russia's than it's case with Germany.

@@426mak it wasnt really a battle but more of a stalemate where a mongol horde of 200k including client states in central asia invaded hungary a second time and the hungarians hid behind their 50 newly built western style castles while the mongols sieged them. Unfortunately for the mongols western style castles laugh at trebuchets so the mongols starved to death and resorted to cannibalism. The remaining army was destroyed by the hungarian king. The mongol horde never again attempted an invasion of central europe. Fyi... 50 western style castles destroyed the mongols.... Germany has 5 thousand castles and fortified towns during that time. I will try to look it up later its been a while since ive read that history.

Im pretty sure Gunghis already long dead by that time. Also being tributary state are far from being conquered. When they clean their mess they can always strike back. And paying tribute to the mongols are the better choice than annihilation by the crusaders.

I went to high school where teachers confused and wrongly lumped together the Mongols and the Huns. Today, their respective legacies can be seen in the national names of "Hungary" and "Mongolia". They are not close geographically or in terms of chronology. We need better education in the U.S.A.

You wonder if the world might have been different without losing a hundred thousand warriors or even double that on the way to Japan. From the show "Draining the oceans" they were able to discover that the fleet that tried to invade Japan had poorly built ships which couldn't stand the rough storms of the deep sea. They were mostly Chinese and Korean coastal fishing and merchant ships. If they had prepared proper war ships things might have taken a different turn.

The mongols couldnt advance into europe as they quickly realized european castles will destroy them. That and the european landmass are mostly forested which is unsuitable for mongol cavalry.

You didn't mention mangoles are stopped by Mamaalik in Egypt, a famous battle called Aynu-Jalut.🤔🤔🤔that was a turning point of TATAR.

The greatest advantage the Mongols had was the fact they were nomadic.
