Meanwhile, to kids, the former were just little blue creatures and the latter were dolls with lots of dress up options.

Yah, remember when the Doctor literally had the whole cosmos in the palm of his hand when he possessed the Key to Time? Literally unlimitted power...and he threw it away without a second thought.

    • Yeah but trust me bro! "We had long conversations about bringing Davros back, because he's a fantastic character, [but] time and society and culture and taste has moved on. And there's a problem with the Davros of old in that he's a wheelchair user, who is evil. And I had problems with that. And a lot of us on the production team had problems with that, of associating disability with evil. *And trust me, there's a very long tradition of this.* "I'm not blaming people in the past at all, but the world changes and when the world changes, Doctor Who has to change as well. "So we made the choice to bring back Davros without the facial scarring and without the wheelchair - or his support unit, which functions as a wheelchair. "I say, this is how we see Davros now, this is what he looks like. This is 2023. This is our lens. This is our eye. Things used to be black and white, they're not in black and white anymore, and Davros used to look like that and he looks like this now, and that we are absolutely standing by." - Russell T. Davies

  • I've done a bit of thinking... RTD says he doesn't want to portray a "wheelchair user" Davros (Half-dalek, Half humanoid) as evil. RTD completely forgets that the ""wheel chair"" he apparently uses is just the lower half of a Dalek's shell. RTD is therefore counting the Dalek Shell/suit as a wheelchair - therefore, all daleks are wheelchair users - therefore, all daleks can no longer be shown as evil. So much for the Trigger-happy mini tanks. RTD is reducing them to squids in mobility scooters. Also, what tf "he cant be evil and in a wheelchair?" Is he not a crazed, genocidal, mad scientist? why can he not be evil jUsT because he can't walk? - As stated before, the Daleks also use the same tech as him to move so... thats some flawed thinking right there Mr. Russel The Dickhead

  • I didn't mind the start of the Meep gender discussion because it kinda sounded like the Doctor switching from human handling mode to alien handling mode (assuming the aliens have even weirder sexual characteristics than the animals on earth). Then it focused entirely on what correct pronoun to use and things just got weird. Also other than the whole "trans is better" thing, they practically never touch on Rose's history or physical sex to the point where I had no idea what the "bullies" were talking about except that they were meant to be bullies. The idea of Rose being a fusion of the Doctor and Donna kinda gives the trans thing some meaning but in the end it just ends in a case of retaliatory sexism. The trans thing can be interpreted as realizing you get to choose who you are (ie personality does not equal genetics/lineage) but it seemed to be more "your dumb because your male" or worse "your dumb because you choose to be male". Doctor Who is literally a story about a shapeshifting alien from outer space who can go anywhere in time and space. Even if they wanted to promote "the message", They have so much to work with and they end up strong-arming together a mess that is just trying to shove what politically correct jargon was the first thing that came up when they googled "transgender" or "gender equality".

The show just became a "doctor" circle jerk, and every episode they had some clown jerking his ego and talking about how he is basically a god. She-Doctor basically killed the show. Also, MANY of the best writers from a decade ago are no longer good writers and have been consumed by "the message". Many of them have become crap writers for an agenda. The western entertainment industry is almost dead as a whole, it's why Anime and content from overseas have blown up in popularity. It's a shame too, because I was a big supporter of western animation and I still hold that western cartoons are superior in creativity and style but the stories have just been crap.

  • For me, Tom Baker was the all time iconic Doc. Eccentric, intelligent, a bit mad, the scarf, the hat and the jelly babies! The show was started by a first time female producer, Verity Lambert, in 1962 on a shoe string budget. The first episode debuted on 23 November 1963 (when JFK was assassinated) so it was a modest start for the show but it quickly took off after that. Now it’s all over.

  • The point about Davros was that he was powerful despite being physically destroyed; the Target book describes him as a shattered shell of a man, who should have been pitiful, but instead was terrifying. Sheer ntelligence and force of will combined with his being an obssessed megalomaniac are what make him scary, He should attract our pity and sympathy, but he doesn;t. He needs no one. The "would set me among the gods" is one of the finest scenes in the show's history. Nyder is shown to be just as evil and _almost_ as ruthless as Davros (even he hesitates about destroying the Kaleds, his own people) and is physically perfect.

  • I didn't care about the diversity messaging, what I minded is the unravelling of the Doctor Donna story, which had meaning for me. Donna was once the most relatable companion since Sarah Jane, she was an ordinary person, undertaking ordinary work, not a dewy eyed ingenue given 'specialness'. Donna achieved her goal of being important, but then had to lose all knowledge of this, it was poignant and tragic, and they just handwaved it away. As you have a time travelling doctor, it would have been easy to reunite these characters without breaking one of the more compelling canon stories.

He was dying and incorporated cyberwear into his body and the more he deteriorated the more he became a machine. The only way to keep his people alive was to put thier brains into a robot. This is the tragedy of Davros, he had the choice to save his people but it came at the cost of erasing their "humanity". The person that is writing Dr. Who should know this. • You can tell the transgenderism is not a real thing purely on the fact that it has to be forced down everybody's throats by powerful Hollywood people. That's the only place that really comes from. Like yes there's some people who need to be on meds and get psychiatric help who thinks that they're transgender but for the most part the people themselves the regular people everyday folk don't buy into it. And instead it has to be forced down everybody's throats by Hollywood pedophiles that partied on Epstein Island. And that's some of the biggest evidence that it's a made up nonsense. It's not like regular transgender people like the gay rights movement or the African American rights movement it's not like normal people fighting the system and trying to fight for their place in the world but rather a top-down push from extremely powerful pedophilic people to force this thing on everybody and convince more people to identify as it. Like everybody was just going along with their own business not even thinking about it and the pedophiles from Epstein Island decided to force it down everyone's throat

Davros is a man riding around in his own personal tank capable of defending him against attack, powering his electric attack and a whole lot more. This is like when Disney thought the Dwarves in Snow White were midgets and not the mining Tolkien-like fantasy race. It’s so telling when a studio doesn’t understand their own product.

But I personally wouldn't be surprised if RTD wasn't thinking of the disabled at all when he made that change, and is just saying it for a virtual signal. The fact he jettisoned the alien makeup as well may indicate he wanted to lean into the Nazi allegory aspect of Davros, and decided to make him look like a literal Nazi. 2023 writers are so creative, I'm in awe, lol.

  • The only "issue" in this episode imo was when they used "I'm a woman" as a way of explaining why the meta crisis reverted which makes no sense because she was a woman 15 years ago. Also because in the process she bashed the Doctor for being a man. Apart from that they handled discrimination very well, I thought they handled Rose's character very well and her subconsciously choosing Rose as her new name because she has memories of Donna and Doctor's adventures was smart. Imo there was still a lot of lazy plot writing which is part of the reason I stopped watching this show in the first place.
