I work for a glass renovation company in the UK,we use a similar system.
It absolutely can work on Tempered Glass. We use tempered glass in a majority of our videos. We can also work on non-tempered glass and mirrors as well!
In paintless dent repair, a lighted pattern of parallel lines is used to reflect the surface so the tech can judge the surface. Try it. Maybe put it in a video. It is the only way to see if the surface is true.

Is this system as effective on automotive door glass? Most have some curving to them and the scratches esp on older autos is due to the glass rubbing against the glass rubber/whiskers at the top edge of door and bottom edge of the glass. I have some very light scratches on a late 60's door glass, can barely be felt.

Hello. I was under the assumption that you always need to keep the glass wet while sanding it down, but I notice that you do not (unless I'm missing it). Do you not need to keep the glass wet, or is it a large enough area that it does not get that hot?

Can i use this process in my car windshield
Would this work on a car window? I have a classic 1972 Dart that I would not want to damage more.... On the passenger side window there are these little black dots that the previous owner said was from asphalt being flicked up by a machine. When feeling it with my fingernail, it feels almost as if it is on top....the nicks are not very deep. would this system work well to remove these little nicks without a high chance of hurting my window? By the way, the whole passanger window would need it.

We received a questions regarding the repair saying that we used a different pane of glass after removing the initial damage. We would like to make it clear that only one pane of glass was used to make this demonstration video. The reason he has circled the haze before polishing is so that he can see where to continue polishing even when the haze appears to be clear.

Will this work on the inside of a fish tank?
You have scratches on your window? This tool is something that would be able to take that damage out! No need to replace when you can save time and money doing the repair!
GlassRenu uses a specially formulated abrasive that allows the system user to aggressively grind the surface of the glass without super heating the glass. When working with glass thermal expansion is always of concern, but if you understand the limitations and how to work around them you can remove any surface damage with ease. Obviously if the glass is cracked you can't fix that, but our system is able to remove sever surface damage, we are the originators of Dry Grinding and hold the patent.
So the black disc is basically removing a layer of glass to the depth of the deepest scratch?
ivantoxie yes that is correct! Grind down to the bottom of the damage, then pre-polish, then polish! Thanks for watching!

Mechanically yes, but you will not be able to achieve the same results as you will with the Makita. Our backing pads and RenuDisks are designed to work in unison with the Makita to ensure that there will be no trace marks left over once the repair is complete.
What do you mean by Super Heating the glass , is there a risk of that ,,, will it break the window?
+5150smiley We always want to monitor the temperature of the glass as over-heating it can result in breakage. All of this is explained in the instructions that come with every kit. The non-contact temp gun will help you get a heat reading during your repair. Thank you for watching!

I am working in glass scratches removing company here in UAE just wanna ask how many times i can use the gray disc in pre- polishing? It is possible to clean or to take out the stuck glass dust on it?
We recommend using a Grey Pre-Polishing Disk for 10 sq. ft. or so.The grey disk is our least abrasive disk we offer, after a few uses it will not cut the glass like you need it too. A safe answer is using a Grey RenuDisk for 10 sq. ft. of pre-polishing before you need a new one. Thank you for watching!
So like for example if i use the grey less than 10 sq ft i can still use it? It is possible to clean the grey? With the brush?
Do not use the brush to try and clean the disk off. That will remove all of the abrasion from the pad. Take the file (flat non aggressive side) and smack the disk to dislodge the glass dust. Although we do recommend to every user that they should use a new Grey RenuDisk on each window they work on (consistency reasons) you may get to a point where you feel you can stretch your disk a little further.

i tried calling the 888 number on the website with no luck, it's been disconnected. is this a sign that the business is or won't be supportive of my questions in the future? just wondering because i do have some questions. obviously this is not a cars windshield or cars door glass with any curves. will this work just as well with a curved glass and how hard will it be to perform this task of removing scratches? i have these really deep scratches on my trucks rear glass and since they don't sell that glass anymore, i'm more than willing to spend the money on this kit, but how well is it? describe the deepest scratch this'll remove, because as i was saying, the scratches on my glass is really deep and horrible, please help! do you deliver to hawaii?

We did not have a micrometer handy when we shot this video, but, figure this damage is moderate and can be felt with your fingernail. A very simple type of damage to remove.
