"ALL THESE PEOPLE IN THIS GAME ARE INSANE!!" Exactly, some Mercenaries are mentally fucked up despite this game has cartoonish graphics. Like Soldier has PTSD because he was fought in WW2 for a Nazi killing spree after rejected by every US military branch, Scout has hyperactivity, Demoman is alcoholic, Pyro has schizophrenia and pyromania, Heavy also have some kind of PTSD from his escape from Gulag with his family and Medic is very sadistic. Sniper, Engineer and Spy don't seem to have many mental issues but they don't care about killing people and can be quite cruel.
They are literal mercenaries, don't see why they would care about killing people.

A lot of this game’s humor comes from the fact that every character is a stereotype.
But also all of them have some archetypes, thats why these characters are really characteristic.
Every stereotype isn’t just negative and blatantly offensive. Each one has the worst _and best_ of their stereotype. Heavy might seem dim-witted and brutish, but he is also unrelenting and powerful with endless loyalty. Medic may be maniacal and cruel with no moral standards, but he is still a genius with unmatched skill in the medical field. Each one (except pyro for obvious reasons) has a stereotype to their character that actually helps them be well-rounded people - which is actually the opposite of the word “stereotype” according to the Webster definition.

DoctorPhileasFragg I suppose, kinda, yeah, but he/she/it’s so hard to really pin down we don’t actually know what it is or why it does what it does. It _seems_ like Pyro is just a person with schizophrenia, but we know that aliens seemingly exist in the TF2niverse judging by the Dr. Grordbort comic, so for all we know, Pyro isn’t even human. Honestly, we only really know about how the Pyro sees the world. Whether it sees that willingly or not is uncertain.
Besides, Soldier is clearly the dumb one. Heavy is actually one the most well-put-together members of the team. Especially in the comics.

Its kinda sad watching all these reactions when people don't realize how much stuff this shows off from the game that those of us who played the original were blown away by seeing. Like for instance, seeing the actual spy transformation was cool, demo's stickies, soldier doing proper rocket jumps, etc.

This medic can literally bring you back from the dead though... He made a deal with devil that makes far more skilled than anybody alive.
Demoman: A dark-skinned Scottish cyclops from the town of Ullapool, Scotland. He uses a grenade launcher as his main as well as an alternate grenade launcher that shoots sticky grenades, he also uses a sword or an axe in melee. He is best for deploying grenades to destroy engineer buildings or shooting then at small clusters of enemies, his sticky bombs can be used as traps in the path of enemy pushes. There is also a type of Demoman, known as the demoknight, which serves as an all melee Demoman, he is also a raging alcoholic. Soldier: The biggest patriot from the American Midwest, a self proclaimed soldier despite never serving in the army. His main weapon is a rocket launcher, though he uses a shotgun as his secondary, as well as a combat shovel in melee. Best strategy is for him to use his rocket launcher to flush out or destroy enemies and their positions, and he is also good at defending as a few good rockets can wipe out an entire enemy push. Spy: A man from an undetermined region of France, he has a butterfly knife and a pistol, a heavy caliber one is his default gun. He has a sexual relationship with the Scout's mother, he is also the Scout's father. Best strategy is to use his sapper to wipe out engineer buildings or have him cloak as enemy teammates to sew disorder and chaos amongst their ranks as they don't know who is ally or foe. Medic: A self proclaimed doctor from Stuttgart, Germany, he served in the German army in WW2, as a medic, after the war he became a doctor, but lost his medical license after taking someone's skeleton. He uses a medigun to heal wounded teammates, as well as overheal them, which gives the healed person extra health, as well as generating Uber, which at 100% can be used to grant him, and whoever he Ubers, invincibility for a limited time, it's best if used the Ubercharge on Heavies as the combo can lead the vanguard on a team push, or stop a push by the enemy team, there is another Medigun that you can equip that overcharges the weapon of whoever the Medic uses his Uber on, this grant the other merc guaranteed crits from their weapon, this is most commonly used with the Soldier and Demoman, he also has a bonesaw which can be used in melee to get Uber at a very high rate, he also has a syringe gun which can be used, though it barely hurts enemies, he also has a crossbow that can shoot arrows that can heal teammates or injure enemies, it's best to watch your six for spies and the distance for snipers as those are the classes that best combat medics, and scouts as they're extremely quick and can get past your teammates. Pyro: A person of indeterminate origin with a love for all things fire, his main weapon is a flamethrower, though he has a flare gun or a shotgun as a secondary weapon, and a fireman's axe as a melee weapon. Best strategy is to use Pyro to flush out enemies, leaving them open to snipers or Heavies, he can also use the airblast of his flamethrower to reflect rockets or grenades shot by the Soldier, a sentry, or the demoman, respectively, which can then hurt the original sender of those rounds, he can also spy-check, you can do this by burning teammates, as friendly fire isn't a thing, it'll only hurt spies disguised as teammates.

The tf2 characters are designed like they are because they are supposed to look cartoony, not realistic, and are meant to be very distinct from eachother. Another thing with Pyro, if you look at their mask, it has "Optical Mask" printed on it. Pyro doesn't know they're hurting people. They could be docile by nature, but in order to get them to fight, they make them wear that mask which messes up their vision to look like it does, aka Pyroland The game itself is very good. I know you also don't like the medic, but having a medic on the team, especially a good medic can completely turn the tide of a battle, especially with his ubercharge. Take it this way, if the enemy team has a medic, and yours doesn't, your team is likely gonna lose There was also one mechanic that the Meet the Spy video didn't touch on that Spy has. He has a cloak feature. That is why he appeared like he did in the Meet the Soldier video. He uncloaked. Cloaking will make the spy completely invisible, and he can move around undetected, unless he bumps an enemy, then he is made slightly visible until he gets out of the way. He also can't attack under cloak. Hope this explained some things about the characters

@@abyssvr6100 He sold the souls of the TFC team, not the TF2 one. The TFC is the opposing team of the comics which are supposed to be from Team Fortress Classic, the predecessor of TF2.

Well, that’s the only way Demoman is able to have full view vision. Somewhere it is explained that him being drunk is the only way he is able to have some sort of depth perception to be able to fire his explosives.
The main reason they showed what Pyro sees is so y’all can know what them goggles he’s wearing does to your vision in the game lol. That’s why they’re called Pyro Vision Goggles

Pyro might be the least insane, he actually doesn't want to fight, but Mann Co. gave him pyrovision goggles therefore Pyro see giving happiness, yet he awsa used as a tool for war. In the game you can get items like the Rainblower, Lollichop, and pyrovision goggles that all activate pyrovision also known as pyro land

I haven’t seen anyone mention what pyro is seeing so I wanna explain it for everyone else. Pyro is wearing goggles made by Mann co. (The company that hired these mercenaries) that manipulate what he sees. You can obtain said goggles in game and they are called “pyrovision goggles” and are the same ones he’s constantly wearing that makes him see everything as a happy wonderland and not a blood bath.

Yes pyro has the mentality of a 5 year old and yes that's Canon to the lore. It's also heavily implied that the goggles in his gas mask alter his vision. Spy is Scout's dad btw

I remember there was actually some people stating that it's not that pyro is or isn't insane but that the goggles actually change how they (we don't know if pyro's a guy or gal) see the world.
Funny thing. Pyro doesn't realize he's in a war. Because of the goggles he wears. it changes his vision to make a look like he’s in a fantasy world and because of that he thinks he’s trying to help the world
