love how when he touches the cars he uses his jumper so he dosn't leave a mark on the paint. nice to see that level of respect.
I noticed that to
Yes
Probably instructed by the owner to do so.
@@williambremner9022 I mean probably but you can also see that he himself is just naturally very delicate with it in a way that he wants to keep it as it is.
Knowing that they are all delicate and buffed to perfection prior to sale - why didn't he bring soft gloves?!
This is the kind of TopGear TopGear should be. I love that man and his enthusiasm for cars.
Shiz Exactly. Leave the clowning around to JC, RH and JM. Trying to shoehorn people into their shoes doesn’t work. Just give Chris Harris full creative control and let him do his thing.
Yeah and even Clarkson, Hammond and May were more spontaneous and fun back in the early days... used to be more about cars as well. I honestly don't care too much about the 'special episodes' where they do ridiculous things with vehicles that aren't meant for that purpose... but, okay, that was their thing and a lot of people do love it. No need however for Top Gear to copy that and make boats out of tuk-tuks. Of course one could argue that formula was Top Gear's all along and not that of our 3 Musketeers, but it just feels so 'try hard' with Top Gear. Especially with that awful Matt LeBlanc and his fake scripted cringey delivery. Sabine I find quite annoying as well. She could be sisters with Heidi Klum, who's very cringe as well. I'm glad further along the season there will be no more Matt. Leave the reign to Harris and he'll deliver. One of my favourite car videos was that of Chris Harris on Cars, his own KZhead channel at Portimao circuit, driving the holy trinity (P1, LaFerrari, 918 Spyder) along with Marino Franchitti and Tiff Needell. The way they interacted was just a couple of blokes with a passion for cars being genuinely enthusiastic. There was a general structure, but they were pretty much just chatting freely rather than reading offa a script. Just felt so right, the excitement was real. That is what car people (I wanted to say petrolheads, but these days -__-" , lol) can relate too, because that's exactly how they are amongst their buddies.
Totally agree, much better than the "Travel Show" it turned into. Big question, who the hell owned all of those beautiful cars?
I could listen to Chris Harris for hours talk about cars. He gets it. He understands how real car people(not a snobby "enthusiast"), who live and breathe cars, geek out over the littlest things.
@@filipeferreirac You folks don't understand the real Top Gear, do you? It was never a car show. If you want a car show watch Fifth Gear, or that show where they restore cars. Top Gear was a comedy show that had cars as it's point of revolution. It was about 3 blokes that we're great friends and did stupid stuff. Nobody cared about the car section of it. The comedy, the simplicity, the utter stupidity, that was the main attraction point. The show itself was built around their personalities, molded by their complementing attributes. Nobody gave a crap's ass about the car subject itself. Of course they would test the cars, give it a lap run or whatever, but the basic substance, the fuel of the show, the thing that made you always watch it was their relationship. Their passion to make people laugh and act like toddlers with big toys. I'm pretty sure you can succeed in the same fashion in any field, as long as you are entertaining. As long as you keep people interested in what you're doing. Don't get me wrong, I feel the same way as Chris about the immense impact on history the cars in that garage had, but it's not the same. Put Clarkson Hammond and May in that garage and I guarantee you a banter for the ages. That's what people like, thats what people want. Disagreement. Because i don't care about ONE guy's opinion, I wanna see conflicting points of view in a fun setup. I couldn't care less that' he's excited about a pristine E30. I'm excited as well, but that doesn't make it watchable. It's about keeping the audience interested, and this is what they lack.
im not kidding when I say that this is one of my favorite videos on youtube. His passion, and genuine interest comes through in every second of it. Fantastic.
I almost cried when out of all those cars, he chose the e38. What a legend
I would go for the E28 Alpina B7 Turbo, but man, he did not go wrong.
Chris Harris is the only guy worth watching on top gear....knows his stuff.. is massively passionate and above all....the guy can really drive!
Yea i agree
I always knew he should of been on Top Gear.
Totally agree.
Chris and Tiff are the 2 best presenters!
I'd have watched a 4-hour version of that. :-)
Yes
Me too
Chris Harris doesn't look like me, but he is me... I think :)
yup. need a 4-hour version.
I need to see that
This is possibly THE greatest car collection I have ever seen. Truly breathtaking.
The amount of knowledge Chris has on all these cars is amazing...Chris is a walking car encyclopedia...and how much respect he gives to each car, truly a car nut...
This is nearly every car nut
Next time please make this 30 minutes +. Loved every second of it
YES!
because I kept rewinding, it took me 30 minutes to finish watching it and it's only 12 minutes in length. If it gets too long my day would be gone
Or 60 +
Same.
Even 60 mins 😃👍
His personality and passion that he puts into his craft is really what Chris is all about. Love this style of videos!
It's great - the enthusiasm he has for these old cars is contagious.
The fact that Chris selects the e38 out of all these classics puts the e38 at the all time no.1 spot! thanks chris
Alpina E38, not a bog standard one, although there is nothing wrong with a V12 E38 750. Alpina is one of the coolest names in the biz.
This is therapy honestly. Loved every second. Absolutely share the love and enthusiasm for cars of this era. This is probably one of my favorite TOP gear video ever.
Chris pulling his sleeves over his hands so he doesn't leave hand prints on the cars is one of the best bits.
I did notice but didn't think of it that way. How lovely!
That's TRUE passion.
Maybe he doesn't wanna get caught when he steals one of 'em :-)
@@kagankantar7439 correction all of them ;p

This should be at least 1hour
To see him go nuts... Entertaining
Pedro Macário And least is the key word. Should be three hours.
However long it would take to do cinematic shots and spec/fact listings for every inch of every car. A year long, hour or 2 per week series could do it. A casual 52 - 104 hours of footage. :) Then the next year's series can be all the outtakes/'vlogs' for everything behind the cinematic stuff we would see in the first series. :) Well, we can dream.
Yes. I can watch this when I am off work, in the background on my second screen so I can awe at the lovely cars... oh and that starion.... Beauty
It would be one hour if top gear wasn't in charge
What a class act, he covers his hand with his sleeve when he rests against one of those beauties. An absolute gentelman.
Ikr who wouldnt👍
Find myself coming back over and over to this video. The true enthusiasm is just whats up. Verbalised awe and no silly exaggerations. Wonderful video!
Can we just have Harris on his own doing top gear. He’s the only one I enjoy watching.
/// M facts
True. Still Miss the old squad
I second that... He's better than everyone else at the Moment... And watching the latest Grand Tour season 3 episode 4, better than all the 3 combined...
@@yashsiddham9728 Jeremy said himself that Chris is one of the best car journalist out there
@@dulisha yes, and I couldn't agree more. I like those 3 too. But it feels like Harris would be limited due to Flintoff and the other one. And the reason why the New Top Gear will always be lacking of the acclaim of the Old.
Chris speaks the language. He knows the knowledge.
Hee Kim he is the Richard Hudson-Evans of 2019
Sometimes, after a particularly rough day at work or when I’m struggling, I come back to this vid and wallow in the infectious joy of Harris. He’s literally the kid in the candy store and it’s great to watch, although I am very jealous
When I'm feeling down , I just watch this video.
Same here. It's like therapy
More Harris based nerdery please.
Also this should’ve been an hour long.
At least.
Go read his evo diaries of evo.co.uk forum. Tremendous short reads and stories.
That was better than a ten minute freeview.

I've never met the man, but I consider Chris my friend.
I was lucky I actually met him a year and something ago in Porsche Zuffenhausen. He was just returning a 911R back at the factory. It was insane, meeting him and also seeing that special Porsche.
I met the guy last year during the filming of Top Gear, we were chatting about 80’s cars then. Such a nice guy.
I'm 52 years old I could never afford these babies of love but it is good to see they are still with us. Good show Harris. 💂♀️✌🏻🇬🇧♥️👍🏻
8:09 "Look at the steering wheel!!" That's some infectious enthusiasm right there, throughout in fact.
This video could've been 3 hours long and I would still watch it 100 times over
Brilliant. My only complaint is that it's not an hour long.
It's a shame a lot of us can't be there with Chris, but I couldn't think of a better person to make us feel the excitement through the screen.
This is one of my favourite videos on KZhead. I've watched it countless times.
Gotta say those black SEC coupe Mercs look sexy has hell, they make modern Mercs look like soccer mom cars.

"This is all the stuffs we're going to miss, when the world becomes electric and boring"
Even as an BMW i3 owner (which is the funkiest EV out there) I agree
You are damn right! I wish i could just ride one of those cars, at least just sit in them... Lovely, beautiful pieces of machinery 👌👍
As a Tesla big fan, i agree
The reason you buy and keep your favourite classic. We have a C registered Escort Cabriolet SE that came standard with the Turbo Kit flared arches. I took the original steel wheels and wheel trims off to put some deep dish 17” RS wheels on it. It’s white with a white hood and it honestly looks like new. Also have a brand new engine that i got from ford a long long time ago. Also have a 2006 Audi A4 3.2 Quattro that is also like new in light blue. Sits on the drive under cover. Both get driven from time to time. It’s sad to think they might not be allowed on the road one day? ☹️
Tom I’m a tad jealous..love the BMW i3! Funky is right! Funky and cool! 😊👍🏻
Chris makes Top Gear, period. No other car journalist geeks out over these kind of cars than Chris Harris. He is unique in the way he presents and taking the audience with him and emerge them in a wonderfull experience. Maybe I’m exaggerating, I don’t know.
Chris is good, but nothing beats Jeremy, Captain Slow, and Hammond.
@@caribbeangtr8077 yep they have charm that probably will never been replicated
I'm not sure about the rest of cast. A sportsman has nothing to do with cars was casted as one of hosts 🤪 I'm of course talking about Ashes-winning England cricketer Flintoff. He's not even a race car driver.
@@caribbeangtr8077 The trio arent journalists per se at least anymore, they function more as automotive themed comedians. Chris Harris, he is well truly the king of automotive journalism. He could make a Prius review interesting without any gimmicks, or any additives.
@@jameslee9314 To each his own, the trio are absolutely entertaining and their technical content was good too. Now, I have a high level of respect for Chris and the knowledge he imparts, but just less entertaining, but by no means boring. I'm an automotive tuner, so I appreciate everything that Chris says. Cheers.
this is one of those videos you wish he spoke about each car for hours on end...
I would quite happily watch that.
Legend says that even today you can find Chris sleeping peacefully in one of those cars, smiling happy as a baby.
Yeah he probably awoke on the auction block when the gavel came down
When Chris said "why not get a tent in here and stay" I felt that 🤩
Those are nice cars and all, but what really gets to me is the absolute passion Chris has for the cars. Absolutely geeking out, running names and stats like nobody's business, throwing away his cool card to share the wealth of knowledge and appreciation he has for his interest. I wish the world were full of people like Chris who are just as riveted about their careers and hobbies as he is. Well done!
Throwing out all this knowledge is the biggest cool card to any nerd of anything. Not only was it an amazing collection they found just the right man so show it off
I never was a BMW person, but Chris' reaction and wonderment is just lovely to watch
Yes, always fun to see a bushman in awe of the White Man's miracles.
Best video on KZhead. Chris Harris is the only person that can keep top gear what it should be
I just noticed that i had the biggest smile ever on my face during the whole video! You could actually feel how happy Chris was there. I envy him so hard right now, but he definitly belonged in that garage!
This video perfectly illustrates why Chris Harris is so popular among car lovers and petrolheads. He's one himself. He gets excited by the same things we do. Its genuine and not for the camera.
Now ther is a man who is actually worthy of hosting top gear
its cooler if the host is jeremy james and richard hammond
Who jezza we all know Chris is a dick bring back clarkson
@random panda on the internet so true, if they let Chris do like his own show, kind of like Clarkson's motorworld but Harris on his own it would be great
He has arabian English accent, it's most adults thing wich I hear in my life
Agreed
Most of my dream cars were in that room. I could spend weeks looking at that collection. Great commentary Chris Harris as usual.
Every time I'm having an off day or just want a smile, as a car enthusiast, I come back here. Just a man and his love for automotive perfection.
That Merc wagon Is terribly gorgeous

That was pure enjoyment. The look on Chris’s face at the fully intact BMW tool kit. I’d kill for the Renault 5 turbo 2.
Mesmerized by the condition of the cars!!! Absolutely the reaction and excitement expected from a real car enthusiast.... Chris going from car to car, like a kid in a candy store.
You know it’s a good collection when the V12 Ferrari’s are completely ignored and don’t even worthy a mention.

A true enthusiast of fine cars...gotta love how Chris does not touch the car with his bare hands, but rather has his hand covered inside the sleeve. Need to teach that to Jay Leno..hahaha
@whybother now Jay does it to the cars of his guests as well. Every car wash, valet company, parking company, and service department should be teaching that to each employee who touches the client's car. 80's-90's was the absolute golden age of cars. the auto industry hit their peak IMO
I think you’re right. They are totally usable and fast enough today, kinda safe and still loads of brand / character. Buy a new BMW today, one thing you won’t get is Bavarian character and taking a stand for good design. As they once did.
Depends on what brand of the 80s, as you can see in the video a lot of the 80s cars got way to advance electronics that never lasted. Id agree about the 90s though
Everything except American cars
