This is the guy that got Bob Ross started, Bob idolized this man named Bill, thanks Bill for kick starting a legend...🎨
I bet the first time Bob Ross met Bill Alexander and asked Bill to train him, it was exactly like the first time Luke met Yoda.😂😂😂❤❤❤
Bill to Bob: “Do…or do not. There is no ‘try’…”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My mom watched every show he recorded. Mind you this was 1978 (I think). Then she stayed in Danville, IL and took lessons from him personally. Then she rented a store and opened a shop, teaching classes on how to paint. Whoever started those wine and canvas classes trumped us all 😂. Linda Bennett, my mom, participated as a vendor at good shows. Most of the time she was right across from Thomas Kincade. Thanks William (RIP), you helped my mom (RIP) have a 45 year career.
The quality of the 90s filming technology makes it look as if Bill is still around with us today.
"when I paint I am very hungry" love that one!
I love this man. I used to watch him on pbs on weekends as a teen while going through some awful times as a crime victim. I was scared to leave my house. He made me feel better. I painted ceramics and wrote poetry. And wished I had paints.
So sad this had to go thru that. Are you all right now? Prayers to you.
So sad you had to go through that...that's what I meant❤
@@LenaAllentickleme You realize there's an edit option, right?
I have always loved him. He is a great teacher Joy should be in your painting not just a subject. Thank God for that man.
Wonderful Man and Teacher. No being sneaky just real. He is as Honest as he could be. Rip Bill and ty for your kindness.
Thank you for your kind words.
Why rest in peace 😢
Miss having Bill and Bob on TV. Too many people these days, missing the wonderful experience of their talent!
"Healthy people make healthy paintings." So positive in his outlook. ❤
I watched this lovely man's show growing up and he truly made a difference in my life! I still paint to this day ❤ Thank you 🎉
I love this man! I just stated back painting after 40 years! I have learned so much from him already!
Thank you for watching! Congratulations on painting again.
I cannot get over this man's super, positive energy. What an amazing guy.
He survived two world wars. Maybe this changes everybody a little bit . . .
You can see how he trained Bob Ross but Bill really is the true master!!
Боб .Росс был замечательным учеником у талантливого учителя.Обожаю Боба Росса,обожаю Вас,Александер.
They have different styles and ways of doing things and I enjoy them both.
@@replicated Bob is definitely the better entertainer but Alexander is undoubtedly the better painter. So much more complexity in his pieces.
@@ez_is_bloo totally true, Bob is definitely more entertaining to watch is so relaxing just to hear him. But Bill is just a better artist, I just started watching him and is obvious how more complex and better finished most of his paints are
@@vjara94 Bob uses more paint when laying in the outline of a mountains and has to blend out or scrape off the excess. Whereas Bill uses a thinner coat when making mountains thus not having any excess paint to have to remove.
Bill's strong personality is whom my father would have painted with. Bob's relaxing personality is whom my mother would have painted with. Can't recommend one over the other - it's all about how you woke up this morning - with more passion, or with more harmony. We are lucky to have had you both!
Such a lovable handsome soul.
bobs show wasn't really about painting..its not about teaching painting, most people who watch his show don't even paint and never will...its relaxing to watch and hear him talk, its relaxation and de-stress, he takes away anxiety and stress, its like taking a tranquilizer watching him...bill is the better painter but like i said its not about that...bobs personality and gentle approach to the world is why he was vastly popular and to this day.
@@westoftherockies best voice in the world.
😮I remember watching this show when I was 18 years old. What a beautiful memories
Talk about an enlightened Master. He had the secrets of life innately known somehow! ♥️🎁
The True Master Artist Who Started It ALL!!! Bill Alexander is the Julia Child of painting 🖌️🎨. Was watching Bill "Fire It In There" for years. I'd rush home from school and turn on the TV to watch dear heart Bill Alexander. RIP Bill 🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
Thank you ❤️ I adore Bill ❤️
I absolutely loved watching this
Thanks
We religiously watched Bill Alexander on PBS. Even went to a class and painted a scene in the Alexander style. Have the two paintings hanging in our living room along with the book showing the original we were copying. It's from The Magic of Oil Painting by W. Alexander, A Walter T. Foster Publication, book #162, pages 6 & 7, ISBN (1990). Also got to see him lecture at a suburban shopping mall. He spoke for about three hours and never finished the painting! (It was on a canvas about 3 times the size usually used in the TV show.) Was a great experience. He had great charisma and was never boring! Glad to find this video on KZhead.
I miss Bill and his happy painting, he wasn't afraid of painting different subjects. Yet, his work had a continuity and positivity to it.
Now this is what AN ARTIST, PAINTING really looks like.
I am also next to God, but with worship. Paint is my hobby a skill God has given me.
This is the first painting I did..In 1979..Spent 6 hours..Harder than I thought. I just recently saw that I wasn't using the knife correctly for mountains. That's what's good about videos on youtube. You can look and re-look how they are done.
I will always remember his "I am ze almighty creator of light!"
Wrong...even in jest. God is the creator of light and darkness.
@@kittyhawk7060 you’re too narrow minded for your own good
Sir, you are really a amazing teacher and master ❤, I try my best to see your lessons in coming days.Thank you.May God give you 1000 years of living alive.
I watch you paint every night! I grew up watching BobRoss like all of us so when i got older and found you i was hooked. I can see where Bob got his new outlook on life because he wasn't like that before he met you from what i understand. Your positivity is contagious ❤from 🇺🇲
Thank you!
I find it ironic that I just found this channel from having watched the Bob Ross one and it's the day before the anniversary of Bill's death. Rest in power, Bill! Know that you did, in fact, pass on the soul required for painting! Thank you!
He is simultaneously the greatest hype man delivering some of the best soul forging lines imaginable while also just a super chill guy. I am absolutely going to consume more of his videos. What a great dude.
I can’t understand anything he’s talking about but at the same time I understand everything he’s talking about.
Bill was the one that taught me in 1981..and he also taught bob ross who ended up capitalising on bills technic...this guy is the best f and never got the recognition he deserved
He was incredible, so many people have benefited from the gift God gave him.

Stunning painting in a few minutes ! Super talented, i can see why Bob Ross so inspired from his technic of painting.
Although Bob Ross is good no doubt, there is something about Bill's personality and art that draws me in and I couldn't explain why
Bill was a Master Artist. He could paint anything. He was exactly the same on camera and off camera. You are seeing genuine Bill.
Bill Alexander is absolutely the master of this technique !! Bob Ross I watch everyday.
Bill so loves to paint. His enthusiasm is so infectious he makes me want to paint along too. Thanks for this beautiful demo.
Hablas demasiado
Those reflections and the surface of the lake are actually stunning! Almost photorealistic.
God has blessed this master painter. Makes me want to go play in the woods, hike the mountain, and put a canoe in the water in this painting. Thank you! 🌲🏔🛶🩵
A true master and a wonderful and talented human being. Rest in peace, Bill. Thank you for influencing Bob to spread your marvelous technique to the world.
bobs show isn't about the painting, what made the joy of painting popular isn't bob teaching painting..its about howo he makes people relax and help all the stress go away...bob could of been cooking hamburgers and he would be just as enjoyable to watch cause bob himself is what people are attracted to. bill was loud and agressive and although a much better painter, tha1ts not what draws people, its bobs style and personality.
@@westoftherockies always the piece of shit who goes on life trying to correct people lol!!!
I'm an Amateur Artist with no degree in Fine Art. I wasted my college years by studying Anthropology and Geography but always ignoring my inner talent. Great teachers are everywhere as long as you open your mind to learning. Thanks for this video.❤.
I used to watch him for years before Bob Ross. I was just a kid and very interested in painting and the arts in general.
I hope you followed along and continue to paint today! Thank you for watching!
I start painting thanks too Bill ,he is legend,,,
Thank you for your comment. We are always glad to hear when Bill has touched someone’s life.
Bill, Bob Ross, Fred (Mr.) Rodgers.... So much kindness through the '70s
What a joy to watch Bill A. paint. Thank you for posting his videos.
So amazing. I used to watch Bob Ross- another legend but this guy taught Bob all he knew and you can tell because, as good as Bob was, this guy, the depth and the quality of his work, you can see who taught who- no disrespect to Bob. I loved his manner more than this guy but both were legends in their own ways.
We don't know how good Bob really was, because he was only teaching very basic landscapes. Most of them had just a mountain, a lake and some trees and bushes.
Fire it in! No mercy!
aujourd hui en 2023 ces peintures sont encore magnifique ,,,,,,,,et toujours inspirantes,,,,,un tableau de mère nature en 2023 peut etre aussi un message a l humanité .
Hypnotize the canvas!
Just imagine waking up and seeing that view every morning of your life.
Bill was my inspiration that encouraged me to try this technique of painting before Ross. His presentations and talks during everyone of his tutorials are absolutely powerful. I continue to paint the wet on wet method today after thirty some years of enjoyment creating. Thank you Bill you were a true master that ignited that spark inside of me and taught me to enjoy life.
Здравствуйте дорогой художник! Я сегодня решила посмотреть вашу картину, Вы большой мастер, я влюбилась в ваше искусство! Сегодня Бог послал Вас и я думаю это знак. Буду учиться у Вас! ❤❤❤
Another joyous painting journey with Bill!!His process of teaching was unique and special, & different from others! When ever I watch Bills paintings it always makes me happy and makes me pick up my brush & just paint with him!Thank you Bill for your encouragement and support and above all your kindness!Love you...💐🙏
God knows I love this man: I watched him Every Saturday (in Buffalo NY) on WGBH PBS Boston. Thank You for the memories! ♥
He was fantastic! Such a talented artist!
Magnificent!!! Makes you feel good to watch this man experience his own joy with his work.
His words at the end are so wonderful. I love this man and I will be just as excited to see him in heaven like his dog. 😄 Thank you for putting these videos up here for everyone to enjoy! ❤
When I was young I remember watching Bill paint it was mesmerizing watching a image come to life on canvas so easy for Bill at least he made it looks so easy. He was always so positive and happy while painting glad I can watch him again here on youtube.
RIP BILL you are the master and legend, creator of wet on wet oil painting i thank for you kind words, your work and your breath never waisted, love and light to you and your family we love you: you never be forgotten: I am an artist I want to paint one of your painting with acrylic on 20x24 canvas for your memory:
Bill didn’t create wet on wet. Allá prima has been around since the 1500s

"Without the dark, there is no light".
What an inspiring man you are . Thank you so much for your life listen advice, you are the true artist and a really good person 🎉🎉🎉
Hes been dead since 1997
So many thoughts.... The passion, the desire to teach. Only 26 minutes to create something which I would consider an incredible piece and he is still trying to inspire 4 minutes into the painting and hasnt really started yet. Bob Ross before Bob Ross. A lengend. A man that trully seems to be genuine and wise... would have loved to chat with him for an hour.
He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.
Yes sir I enjoyed the painting it's fabulous thank you sir for this cool episode
Thank you for watching!
I love both Bill and Bob Ross but I feel like I would learn more from watching Bill. He goes more in detail about the knitty gritty of his technique while Bob is more about creating a chill vibe.
Bill was a Master Artist and had so much to teach but no time to teach it. Happy laugh, happy and free, that's so right, so beautiful, love this painting, thank you Alexander. Blessings...
I I would love to see you paint for many years to come with a great quality of life. Another great painting as usual
So glad I found your channel! My Mom & I used to watch him on PBS years & years ago & we loved him. Thanks for showing his wonderful talent once again!👍🏻
You are so welcome!
I would watch bill on PBS when I would come home from school in the early 80's . Loved that guy. Only painter that threw convention out the window and would use huge paint brushes designed for painting homes not canvass.
Another wonderful lesson!!! Beautiful painting!!! Bill is a real master!!!
Create names Bob Ross as the first teacher. So wrong , Bill was 'firing it in' before Bobs clouds were happy. I loved Bill Alexander!
he shws how to become one with the world thru painting ,,he was my first teacher and now i paint with my soul and let the paintig tell me what to do next thru abstract and landscape it doesnt matter ,,,i let my soul paint,,thanks BILL FOR THE INSPIRATION 43 YEARS AGO
You are welcome!
ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!! SO BEAUTIFUL!! So POWERFUL! Thank You!!
A great expert in wet on wet technique, teacher of another legendary painter, Bob Ross.
He developed and mastered this technique. Bob Ross was his student. I remember watching Mr. Alexander in awe as a child and not many TV shows grab my interest outside of cartoons. I felt a magical energy around me watching Bill create!!
you are not only the great painter.............and a wonderful philosopher.
As soon as I heard Bill say happy little tree, I knew there was some sort of connection between him and Bob. I never knew about Bill until recently.
Thank you for the art the advice and making me smile 😁🎉❤
Bill, I appreciate your passion for living, your belief in God and for the lessons in painting, I believe you truly are doing God's work, thank you very much !
so touching, thank you, not only learnt painting, but also living with such a positive attitude!
Bill’s paintings are more striking and realistic than Bob’s, but I like Bob’s quiet and understated demeanor. Bill’s louder than wordy demeanor wears me out, but his spectacular paintings cannot be denied.
Bill was passionate in everything he did. His enthusiasm was infectious and his knowledge about painting and the benefits of painting was off the charts. He was a true Master Artist.
A happy laugh makes you feel good inside. That is the Best time to paint.
I very much enjoyed it, thank you Bill Alexander 🙏
Always full of joy and positivity, Mr. Alexander figured out what was important in life. 👍
Excellent way of teaching with motivation to leave energetic life
