  • I have a 2019 non aero pack version, which works superb for me as an older gent. I think we often get carried away with top trumps and performance figures, but a 300bhp hatch has more than enough performance for many from a daily driving perspective.

    • Many congrats on your A35! I couldn't agree more....300hp is sensational in an everyday hatch and really more than anyone would ever need. I am glad you are enjoying yours and it is a fantastic car from my experience with it too 🎉

  • Great Video, I have owned my 2019 A35 with Aero pack for 6 months. It’s used for commuting and fun including a trip to Spa in Belgium to watch historic racing. Mine is a low spec car, I think it was spec ‘d this way to keep the purchase price under 40k for lower road tax. I love the car and agree with most of the ownership and driving conclusions in the video. Now that the weather is wet I am loving the 4 wheel drive traction. My last car was a lightly modified M135i manual. Wet weather was a real challenge in the BMW if you wanted to use the performance.

  • I recently got a 2021 A35 about 2 months ago and loved it although I had it stage 1 remapped after 2 weeks and 520nm torque which is more than a45s has transformed it

    • Thank you for sharing your experience with your A35. That is a good shout with the stage 1 remap and I'd be fascinated to know how much it has improved the car in your opinion. Glad you are enjoying the car as it is certainly entertaining to drive and appears to be a pleasure to own 👍

  • Good overall review. I have exactly the same car and after coming from a MK3 Focus RS… agree with all you guys discussed. MPG is great for a 300 plus bhp car and the car is very capable. Only criticism for your viewers is that the car on these 19” wheels are very low out of the box. You need to be careful over speed humps and when in multi storey car parks.

    • Thank you for the positive feedback and also sharing your thoughts as an A35 owner! Very interested to know how you find your A35 compared to your previous MK3 Focus RS. I am a big fast ford fan also and having driven the MK3 Focus RS many years ago they do feel quite different despite having the same philosophy being big power, 4WD in a normal every day hatch. I do love them both for sure but interested to know your thoughts👍

  • I have driven all of these cars on road not track and their is a huge difference to me between all of them. The m240i is in a different league to a golf R mk8 Amd that is in a different league to a n A35 amg

    • M240i Litchfield is very fast in a straight line as I found here: kzhead.info/sun/dLurgpitkH-bZmg/bejne.html. Although I found it to be a bit soft in the corners. Greats cars all of these and it all comes down to personal preference for each individual👍

  • Throttle pedal dead spot on A35. Very annoying, really noticeable approaching roundabouts, coming off pedal, slowing to between 20 & 40mph, foot back on pedal - at least one second dead spot where nothing happens. My previous 7 & 7.5 R Golfs were same. So was M135i F40.

  • Hi Sam hope you’re doing well and looking after yourself. It’s great to see you do another video on the AMG A35. As you’re probably aware I also purchased a second hand 2020 model AMG A35 which I’m really enjoying and certainly taking care of. I just wanted to touch on my tax which is due at the end of this month. I was staggered to learn when I received my reminder that 12 months tax is £520 pounds which I think is pretty shocking. I also had a mk7 golf R with very similar performance as you know my golfs tax per year was no where near to what I have to pay now. I do get it you get a nicer brand of car and you expect possibly higher bills but I just can’t get my head around this excessive tax hike? When both the golf and A 35 are 2ltr turbos with like I said very similar performance. Sam do you think for such a car the taxing is too much? Kindest regards paul

    @paulgirling9927@paulgirling9927 Жыл бұрын
    • The tax is over £500 as the initial purchase price of the car was over £40,000 when new. This applies to all cars with an on the road price, when new, of over £40k. The additional levy applies for the first 5 years and will then drop to £165.00 per annum.

      @srea064@srea064 Жыл бұрын
    • Hi Paul! I am well thank you and I hope you are doing well also! A35's are great but I am with you the tax is too high for cars over 40K which does put me off the long term ownership proposition of cars in this price bracket. My own 7R is a 2017 car, made after the April 2017 tax changes, meaning the tax is currently £165 a year which I feel is reasonable. Even for cars before the April 2017 tax changes my car would cost £220 (being a manual gearbox) per year so add up the 5 1/5 year ownership and I've saved a few tanks of fuel straight away. Compared to the 40K plus tax price the savings are in the £1,000's for an owner looking to keep there car for the long term. After 5 years this does revert back to the old tax system but who knows where we will be in 5 years with cars. I wouldn't let this put you off your ownership but I do agree with you the price is very high for a 2ltre petrol powered car.

    • @@srea064 thank you so much for replying to me. My car was a little under 40k when I purchased it say 6 months ago on a 2020 plate. I guess I was just really surprised with that kind of bill , as I would of expected to pay those kind of tax bills for a big gas guzzling 3 or 4 ltr 4x4 . Not a 2ltr . Kindest regards paul

      @paulgirling9927@paulgirling9927 Жыл бұрын
    • @@SamAustin thank you for the reply Sam, As stated if you want a nice car it seems you really do have to pay through the nose for it. I have to confirm I suppose I was a little ignorant and just assumed both a golf R And an A 35 would be in very similar tax brackets. It’s quite a shame really and it certainly makes you think when buying new or second hand that you need to take in absolutely everything. I will of course carry on taking care and enjoying the car but it certainly a bitter pill to swallow. Again thank you for a really nice video. Kindest regards paul

  • As a owner of a 2022 m135i im curious about the cost of a fully loaded a35, i spec'd a a35 in like for like spec and Merc wanted nearly 44k compard to the 41k i payed for my BMW. Couldn't agree more the interior in Golf is just not there compared to other German rivals.

    @markrhoden68@markrhoden68 Жыл бұрын
    • Thank you for your comment. The M135i is priced slightly less than the A35 but I believe the A35 has more options available which can add further to the total price. I am hoping to drive an M135i in a few weeks and will share a video on the channel. I am a big fan of all these 300hp 4WD hot hatches as they do work really well in the UK. Particularly when it starts getting cold and wet in the winter months 👍

  • Yes they are quick but the A35 is far off from the golf mk8 and well far away from m240i when it comes to performance, be it 0-60 or 1/4 mile. Price wise the A35 is 45k and I seen some at 47k and the m240i and mo8 well melts it off the line so again subjective but performance wise for price it’s a rip off
