No mention of POWELL'S???!?!?! Also, the McMenamin's brewpubs are something to check out- they have a knack for rescuing old buildings and making really distinctive restaurants out of them- and more! The former county poor farm (Edgefield) is now a full complex with hotel/resort, restaurants, brewery, winery, distillery, etc etc. A derelict elementary school (Kennedy School) has become a hotel where you sleep in an old classroom, as well as community center, movie theatre, meeting rooms, several restaurants, bars, brewery, and even a soaking pool! There's a former wedding/funeral chapel (Chapel Pub) with the bar in the main nave, The Crystal Ballroom, etc etc...Similar flavor, but all different! And ignore the naysayers. Portland is 145 sq miles. 4 blocks of protesters downtown is scarcely a blip on the radar. The homeless problem is no worse that other cities of similar size, especially on the temperate West Coast. And if you come in the rainy season, bring a parka, not an umbrella. An umbrella marks you as an outsider. :-)
Great suggestions and insight!
Your city is shit...drug Infested Antifa infested bunch of shit...i am a deadhead rom the old days and your ideology has ruined a beautiful city...
@@fastlane231 very well put my friend...take care
@@fastlane231 What city are you talking about? Check your drugs, you might be in Tulsa, OK.
Yes! Powells.
Definitely be careful at Thor's well!! I got too excited and confident and got hit by a wave and cut up my leg. It's been 2 years and still have a scar😆😬🤷🏽♀️
that was an exceptionally well made sum up of things to do in Portland. And the imagery from google maps helps put things into perspective. Great job. Thanks.
Amazing cinematography, informative and calm narration, and very well organized video! Thanks for posting!
The Rocky Butte aviation beacon is not retired! Still used today for aviators like myself who use it as a marker for visual arrivals into Portland airport. Great video!
Guys!! What an amazing project!! Can't wait to watch more episodes in the future :)
Excellent video! appreciate the aerial and maps perspective so much!
Thor's Well is only about 25 miles south of Yaquina Natural Area, with lots of amazing stuff in between!
Love the coastline there
The picture of Mt Hood at 11:16 was taken only a few miles from my home. Thanks for highlighting the reasons to visit this part of the country.
Hi! We plan to visit Oregon in April. What’s the best area of town to stay?
Planning a trip to portland later this year and this is by far thee most concise yet thorough video on the city. I found more trip ideas here in one video than I did in the dozen videos I previously viewed combined. Great job! You have a new subscriber.
That’s what we like to hear! Thanks!
Thank you for the Video!❤️ I thought three days in Portland will be enough but after watching your review I think 1 wk is not even enough to hike all those gorgeous places.
Well I was thinking about going 3 days but after seeing how expensive a night at a hotel is I think Im going to stay only one night.
Wow, excellent video!!! A great place to tour for a vacation.
Excellent overview of Portland. Well done.
Visiting Portland for the first time next week and added a ton of things from here onto my itinerary. Thank you!
Hey, if you are in Portland during the weekend also check out the Portland Saturday Market. It's on the waterfront and is a huge market that's been around for something like 45 years. It is full of local artists in the area and is the perfect place to get gifts or souvenirs. There is also usually pretty good food! Also, skip Voodoo and go to Pips doughnuts (or do both) and don't forget to get the chai at pips. Also, check out Northwest 23rd. Its a great street to walk down and has great food.
@@thymeofourlives1477 just arrived today and will definitely make sure to check out the market on Saturday! I’ll look into the doughnuts and the chai today or tomorrow 😍 thank you, appreciate it!
@@abelpepper planning on visiting Portland soon is there any suggestions that you enjoyed while there?
Thank you so much, I'm a family vacation with my Boys and I can use this video to plan our activities. Great video 😚😉
Love your voice! Thanks for the tips of places to go on my upcoming trip!
Great video. Thank you so much for this video and your effort.
This video just came into my feed. Very informative. I'm thinking of moving to Portland from LA in 2 or 3 years and this was a good sampling of places - some I knew about and some I didn't.
Great suggestions. I definitely want to try out some of the breweries around!
Best video about Portland I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Be sure to drive through NE Portland at night, just to take in the city's culture. An expensive car works best. Around 82nd & Milton is wonderful.
this is a great video as an Oregon resident you captured oregon very well
Except for the trimet XD
Very well done on all levels, videography (of course), content, commentary, exhaustive research, articulate delivery. Props!
@Chris Merck Ahhh, bless your heart.
@Chris Merck Trolling must pay well.We hope you find a better job.
Thanks for this... more to add for my second trip to the great PNW!!!
Wow! This video is so well done. Deserves more views/likes. You've convinced me to take my bday trip to portland!
Nice job, never been there, but thanks to your video,I would like to see this town, really interesting :)
This is an incredible video and guide, wow. Thank you so much. The maps are so cool!
Thanks!
This is a high quality video. Thanks for the work put into it :)
Such a great video. I'm adding it to my "Fun things to do in Portland" playlist. Hope you don't mind! :)
Oh shit, you guys are from Austin?? That’s dope! That was one of the best videos of the city I saw. This one is VERY well detailed too! Keep it up guys
I miss this wonderful city a lot. I lived there for 8 years and it was the most amazing experience. Greetings from Guanajuato, Mexico.
Hi, We miss you❤️🌎❤️
Excellent video, thanks for sharing!
this is the best video of portland very ilustrative and quick, congrats
Appreciate you using time stamps!
I miss Portland so bad it hurts.
That was awesome video and extremely informative. Bravo
Thank you for the Portland / Oregon love. Made me fall in love with my home city and state all over again. Haven't been to several of the places which is often the case with being a local haha.
@Jack Reacher Doesn't exist
Great video brother. Thank you!
really nice animations, good stuff!
Thanks!
great video! i loved it!
IDK why I ended up here from watching grimm but anyways. Amazing video, I believe this is THE beautiful city you guys have there and I will really love to visit it one day with these recommendations!
Amazing video!
Thank u for the positive review!
Thank you for this video
Great video👍
Planning my first trip to Portland in 2021! Thank you for the video!
Did you make it?
Thx for sharing.
You need to add Sugar Street Bakery and Bistro on this list. Honestly the cupcakes are ridiculously Delicious and they are named after Portland streets.... Naito, Pettygrove, Alberta, etc. This place is so popular but still a lot of non locals have no idea about it!
great vlog must visit Oregon Portland
I used to get in my car and end up god knows where the place Is so relaxing its crazy (west lin ) oregon outside portland right next to Clyde drexler back in 90s
Well spoken and thoroughly put together video.
Nice Video.. Head tp Portland Hopefully Soon Thanks
The tent cities and feces on the streets are particularly attractive this time of year
Miss the Neighbors southwest area of Beaverton. Loved growing up there
love the video👍🏼
Multnomah Falls is also on GRIMM Season 1 Episode 4 towards the last 10 minutes or so
You need to go to the wayside in! It’s dog friendly and they have amazing treats and a swimming pool!
Great video, unfortunately crime in Portland is through the rough at the moment.
I take it you're not familiar with other cities of the same size?
@@Liutgard I live in Southern California, our cities are way bigger and we too have homeless and crimes rising all over and unfortunately this is an entire west coast issue.
@@Zergcerebrates It's not just a west coast issue. It's not just a big-city issue. The crime rates soared with the pandemic. So observing it grew in Portland is basically saying "Portland is a city in the US."
Randomly came across this and watched the whole thing. Absolutely brilliant and Portland just got on my to do list.
kzhead.info/sun/aZiEfbafhZ-NpoU/bejne.html
thank you
you are welcome
Grotto and Japanese Garden are cool places to visit too
well done
Your video was wonderful!
Pips, Doe’s and Blue star all make significantly better doughnuts 😬 Second Cascade if you love sours. Great Notion is probably my favorite local brewery personally. People should most definitely check out Powell’s and take a walk through various neighborhoods.
Great suggestions!
Well done!
my favorite aerobic activity in downtown portland is to try to dodge the needles and hobo s#it on the sidewalks. my fitbit says i'm burning 35000 calories a day!
i love peruvian food, peruvian ceviche is amazing
A very good synopsis of Portland and it's attractions. How ever for every one mentioned a dozen other were omitted.plainly due to a limited amount of time for a tractable video.
great production quality!
Wow this is such an organized and cool video!!! Thanks for the tips, we're doing a roadtrip to Oregon soon! Subscribed :)
Thanks, be safe!
So good video 👍 🇧🇩 😊
I would love a video of Buffalo NY, Alabany NY, Philadelphia PA, ...
Corvallis has a good rose garden too
This city might be the right place for me. I hope to move this year in the Spring

Thinking about visiting Portland and came across your video. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 Great video #NewSubcriber come visit Miami and of course visit the attraction areas, but please highlight the non tourist areas as well, but I think you would.. Or a video on South Florida in general.
He lost me when he said voodoo was delicious, and when he mispronounced clackamas and trimet.
Voodoo's not terrible it's just annoyingly sweet
Clackamette: Clack-uh-met Willamette: Will-am-it People are always getting those ones wrong.
Well, he is making a video for tourists, and Portlanders will tell you that Voodoo is for tourists, LOL.
And I'll say i use to go into voodoo when it was a tiny black hole in the wall next to sketchiness, it WAS Portland AF..now its so different. I miss old Portland and its grit..now its fake, truly. GO Zers
@@TheSadistNat1on Oh, the grit is back and now everyone gripes about the grit, LOL.
Can't wait to move to Portland 💯
You’re gonna love the riots, traffic, and smell of piss in the summer.
@@johnqpublic7191 😂😂sounds like home
@@kamikaxedashinigami4937 ah, you’re another California/New York, transplant then
@@johnqpublic7191 Why would someone who hates Portland, care if someone moves here?
@@dev0luti0n because I was born raised and live here, and as ashamed of my hometown as I am right now, I still want Portland to be the beautiful fun city it once was. I don’t hate Portland, I hate what Portland has become. I have family obligations holding me here for the time being, but have every intention of moving somewhere with more like minded people. Maybe Portland is for you, and honestly hope you’ll enjoy it here. But with more than 100 straight days of riots, decriminalized drugs, 800% increase in shootings since last year, and revolving door justice system, I don’t see what Portland has to offer a contributing member of society that can’t be found somewhere else cheaper, cleaner, and safer.
I moved from Seattle to OKC, while OKC has zero naturally beauty except insane sunrises and sunsets there are two big lakes within the city and a river and a ton of good food. OKC reminds me of Portland as far as live music, breweries, NBA, and tons of great local food.
I am from OKC. Lived in Portland for a while. I love both cities. OKC music scene is great and the food is great too! Cheers!
@@crabbyjoe I’ve been in OKC since summer 2011 and it’s changed so much just in that time. I honestly had no clue when I moved here but was pleasantly surprised. I have an advantage my wife is from here.
11:24 view from Gnarl Ridge trail
Note from an Oregonian - some of these are not necessarily in Portland. These are placed in Oregon 🌲
Haystack rock 80 miles away
I’ll be staying in Portland in June what are some great places i should visit especially for swimming ???!!!!
My home town ❤🖤❤🖤
uhm could you please do an update on that? I hope Portland will be alright again. I would like to visit but with this mess...hm.
Don’t. Do. It.
Ignore all these drama posts. Portland is still *very much* worth a visit!!
I want to see Oregon. So pretty.
Outside of Portland it's beautiful. The city is a dump.
Yaquina head looks like it’s southwest of Portland, not southeast. Nice video on nature locations and sight seeing.
Having grown up in Portland, this is a pretty good overview but you left off the BEST breakfast place in town: The Original Pancake House on S.W. Barbur Blvd. Some other worthy attractions to have mentioned (besides missing Powell’s Books): Forest Park (the largest urban park in an American city), Mills End Park (the world’s smallest park), Rimsky Korsakoffee (coffee and dessert place in business for about 50 years), Freakybuttrue Peculiarium, Stark’s Vacuum Museum, The Hat Museum, Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument, Council Crest, the Portland Aerial Tram, and so much more!
I’m going to Portland to visit for a week do you have any suggestions on can’t misses of what to do while I’m there?
Please do one on Seattle!
Voodoo Donuts is certainly unique and worth checking out, but personally I think Pip's Donuts is much better
Its good to be able to get some in the light house tho
Voodoo doughnuts is as middle of the road as you can get. But I get due to its name it'll never lose it's popularity
Currently, the Roxy changed to to closing daily at 10pm. Don't know if this will change back post-pandemic.
It's TRY-met, not "trim it." Tri as in the three services for the metro: bus, light rail, and commuter rail.
Detroit, Oregon is lovely as well, yes.
Trimet is not safe, not recommending to anybody, especially Max trains
@@kjack21 I literally rode it every weekday before the pandemic.
@@kjack21 it's fine, have you ever ridden it
Only have one complaint/comment-the hill on top of Rocky Butte is not Joseph Wood Park, its Joesph Wood Hill Park, named after Joseph Hill who formerly ran Hill Military Academy on Rocky Butte
I love Portland! I always fly into Seattle first. The homeless situation is sad as it is anywhere but it doesn’t ruin anything for me. I traveled all around the city and outside. Took the ex wife to all her Twilight film locations and just enjoyed the Pacific Northwest!
Next you should do Nashville, Tennessee!
Already made one!
@@VentureAddicts Oh have you? I'll be sure to check it out then :)
Awesome. You don’t know how many bland videos are out here about a great place
Randomly just watched this and I live in the city lol
lol same!
Oh yeah, don't forget the DMV,social security office, how long for Portland to update ten year computer systems? Well, time to brainstorm ,at home of course,
Do a video about Long Island, NY
I saw my house on one of the Google Earth sections
