  • He looks and sounds a lot like his dad. It's like a younger version of George Martin. Just like George Harrison's son.

  • Giles Martin sounds amazingly like his father, Jimmy takes the interview seriously and, being a musician, asks significant and astute questions that would interest people (apart from the harmless silliness with Drake). This is the closest I've seen to Jimmy imitating Johnny Carson or Jack Paar, and as much as it will probably be forgotten, I think it's one of his better interviews.

  • Incredible album. Was a sixteen-year-old, massive Beatle fan and waited at EJ Korvettes, NYC, to buy this album, first day. I know, there are better records and groups but AT THE TIME, it was an amazing experience. This interview is great for two reasons. First, Giles' dad was the fifth Beatle and behind the scenes, which Giles talks about is riveting. Sorry, Millenials, love you but this Baby Boomer, growing up with JFK assasination and horrific Vietnam War, the Beatles was our Prozac.

  • I've always said the Beatle kids should do an album together. It's not like any of them have a career to speak of. Sean, James, Dhani, and Zack have not had any success as recording artists, so what would they have to lose if they got together and got Giles Martin to produce a CD? I don't think anybody would expect Beatle level stuff.

    @Maverikk68@Maverikk687 жыл бұрын
    • Why would they want to ?, they all live their own lives in different counties, it must be bad enough for them already being compared to their fathers all the time... Julian was the most successful but people were always comparing him to John, I think he spends most of his time painting now..

But like all of them, they'd have got NOWHERE, man, had it not been for their famous and mega-wealthy dads. Any producer could do what Giles Martin is doing. But not all 'producers' have the great good fortune to be George Martin's son. Think about it before heaping praise upon any of them.

    • Sounds like you have some personal knowledge of the kids. Did you know them? The bitterness between parents sometimes spills over into the children and they become pawns in the battles. There is no excuse for it ....people should take responsibility for their actions especially when children of a young age are involved. They need to have a good emotional base into young adulthood to deal with the world...it's cruel enough. When my brother split up with his wife I saw firsthand what that sort of thing can do. The kids were so happy and free before then became moody and irritable after the split. George Martin was involved in all those Beatle Albums which spoke about love. Guess he was too deaf to hear the words!!!

I get the impression that he's genuinely knowledgeable about the album and respectful of it (apart from putting Drake on it - that one moment was just silly).

  • We need apologies from Universal/Apple/GilesM/PMcCartney - the White Album 50th Anniversary is wrong (apart from the two original discs remixed), it is cheating fans and drawing money from our pockets - there should be an additional disc (nr3) including final remixex/mixes of Hey Jude, Inner Light, Not Guilty, What's the New Mary Jane, Lady Madonna, Revolution (single vers), full fast version of Helter Skelter leading to Ringo's uttering "I have blisters on my fingers," also could probably include You Know My Name since recording sessions span 1967 - 69, also Hey Bulldog (recorded with Lady Madonna) - like on Sgt. Pepper 50th there are final mixes of Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, the session discs could include two/three versions of Sexy Sadie, Not Guilty, and others, showing evolution of the songs, and not the same as on the Anthology series (including the same versions as on Anthology is really cheating us), also are we interested in instrumental versions ? - NOT in J. Lennon's voice ?, also the positive atmosphere is not true - Ringo Starr and Geoff Emerick left : "lost interest in the White Album because they were really arguing amongst themselves and swearing at each other" (GEmerick), why is Giles M lying ? - take this guy Giles M away from it ! - the only professional guy at remixing these days is Steven Wilson who has done GentleGiant, JethroTull, Yes, KingCrimson, Marillion - and everybody is happy with his work - the next time they return to White Album will be in around 20 years - me dead / also - it's a crime to have sped up She's Leaving Home on Sgt. Pepper 2017 remix

  • How dare Jimmy put Drake on the Sgt.Pepper cover that's a disgrace! Drake and every artist out there today can't touch the Beatles!

    • WillCarr 91 as someone who started to obsess over this band since I was 12 I thought it would’ve been a missed opportunity if he didn’t do it XD Giles didn’t seem to be amused though. Understandable.

  • The dog whistle story always cracks me up. People will insist their dogs react to the track, when it reality, 99% of commercial speakers can't reproduce that frequency. So, if you spent less than 5k for you speaker, your dog can't hear it.

    • You're joking, right? Just because he was lucky enough to be born to a famous father, does that make him a genius too? Or just...Lucky, lucky, lucky! And as for the kids; just fuck right off! Again, just lucky, over-indulged brats. I wonder where any of them would have been if they had to make it without the help of their famous and mega-rich dads? Not exactly hindered them, has it?
