  • Nice work, only thing I would say to do different is machine the od of the honed tube to be concentric with the Id before gripping it and machining the detail for the gland nut, if the gland nut is off centre to the honed bore it will side load the spear and seals causing an internal bypass and shortened lifespan, same goes for welding the port fittings on, press an aluminium plug into the bore below the port hole before you weld the fitting on to minimise distortion of the bore

    • 3500 psi is small beans in terms of hydraulics, most systems are rated to run upto 10,000psi

    • mondrota that’s why he tig welded it. There’s no spatter (the crusty residue I think you’re talking about) just heat transfer

    • You can get Tubes already prepared for that Application. They are drawn and do Not have a weld in the middle.

  • Thats awesome, but I've noticed you never hone the barrel. Machined finishes are good and all but its a quick way to destroy your seals and backups.

  • You should have threaded the coupling that holds the rubber seals that you had to cut so you can slide a non cut one on there, I think the gap may cause a slow leak, awesome though, you inspire me
