Please watch Real Steel after the Rocky/Creed Series!
Hi Mary your biggest fan from LA love your reaction to the Rocky 😇 I got to say all the Rockies movies really make you cry😢 you made me cry as well with you😪 but your reaction is always the best Mary truly🙂 congratulations on your art picture on your Instagram I like it and I can't wait to see you react to Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special.
if you watch Creed then you see rocky again but paulie is dead there
@Mary Rocky 5 was hated for making Rocky loose it all (yes it happens to alot of athletes but as fans we did not want to see it.....) plus his last fight was in the streets not in the ring.... also the "villain" was lame. I think for many I know those 3 reasons are why that film is BY FAR the most rated film of all the Rocky's. Hope that makes sense.
I understand your opinion, and you definitely don't have to apologise or justify it to anyone. However, you Should apologise to your friends though... No kisses on the lips?!? What's that all about?... I would definitely be disappointed if I was one of your friends... hehehe Btw, there is a deleted scene with Paulie that you can find on yt that is definitely worth watching.
Talia Shire (Adrian) Was originally in the script, but she and Stallone agreed that Rocky would not have the "beast inside him" if Adrian was still there. After in a interview she was asked why she wasn't in it, and she said "I am in it... the whole movie is about ME" - Rocky would be totally happy running the restaurant with here, and would have no reason to fight. They also felt they could not kill her IN the film, because most of us would not make thru the rest of the film.
I think that they should have had a flash back to her in the hospital, not necessarily her death though. You know, one last scene of them together, one last uplifting little speech to Rocky to get him through. Would have been nice.
when the script was changed, she was already penciled in to be in the movie so Sly made sure she got her fully pay she would have done and credited it as payment for archive footage
@@jmsmys13ify Or if they didn't want to get her in to film the scene, use the bit of her from Rocky II when she wakes up from the coma and tells him to win for her.
Yeah i think they did it very well. Adrien was such an important character that killing her off in the movie would distract us from rocky and his motivations.
I think the Robot should've killed Adrian on-screen in some sex scene with Mr Robot and Adrian.
This movie has the most powerful motivational speech I've heard. And Stallone's delivery is Oscar worthy. Period.
Thankfully they finally gave him a best supporting GG award for Creed in 2015. Some say while is was great in Creed, the award was for the Rocky character as a whole.
Couldn’t agree more
Listen to it every morning.
@@MasterBetty69 so do I. Love this speech.
Absolutely
Paulie's regret is heartbreaking. Such a strong performance. And the deleted scene should have been left in.
People don't take Stallone seriously, but he's a damn good actor.
Also a talented writer and director.
He also wrote all of them. but he regrets Rocky 5 and apologizes for it.
@@Wesleech how ? He never explain in details
@@Wesleech why does he regret it
He won a golden globe for acting for creed and was nominated for best actor for the same role at the Oscar’s. He has also won an Oscar for best original screenplay so he has done it all.
In your final comments about Adrian, you feel loss for not being able to properly say goodbye to the character. That is exactly what the movie intended us to feel. You felt that loss through the entire movie. Sad, but very well done.
That wasn't the original plot. I read an article where the robot from Rocky 4 was having an affair with Adrian, and in a bizzare sex scene the Robot accidently triggered a wire that electrucated Adrian and the Robot. The Robot refused to wear a rubber
@@blanewalker5512 the fuck? 🤣
@@blanewalker5512fucking hilarious
The robot refused to wear a condominium.
Also, some fun things about this film: 1)spider Rico, the priest, is actually the first fighter rocky fought in the series. 2)the final fight actually took place at the end of real boxing match. The attendees were told that they could stay behind to become extras for rocky.
Where is he shown as a priest?
@@johnnegrete9329 The locker room, just before the fight with Mason Dixon.
@@johnmagill7714 he was praying, that doesnt make him a priest. If you google was spider rico a priest, it tells you he had strong Christian faith.
There’s a deleted scene where Pauline was drunk and Rocky followed him to the alleyway from the restaurant and Pauline was crying, saying “why did she go?! It should’ve been me…” literally brought me to tears 😭
I really want there to be a director’s cut of this movie. There was a lot cut out.
Who is this Pauline??😂 Don’t remember her in the movie.
Hearing Paulie cry as he says "I miss my sister Rock, I miss her" kills my soul every time.
This one is honestly the best/most heartfelt of the Rocky movies since the original. The speech he gives to his son has to be one of my favorites in all of cinema.
Rocky gave us so many life lessons
I agree. It’s easily the best of the sequels, and that speech….I still play it every so often. It’s one of the best bits in the entire series.
Agreed
Sly Stallone has a way with words.
I think you misinterpreted when Dixon's manager was saying about if he thought Rocky in his prime, they meant it that prime Rocky would kill Dixon.
As an older guy, seeing Rocky looking back on the good times and thinking the best is behind him really hits home. It’s always a great boost to see him shake that off and start looking forward again or at least get ready to live in the moment. I’m at the age where I’ve buried a few of those closest to me, so while Adrian’s death surprised me at first it didn’t hurt as much as it would have if I were younger. There comes a time when you realize that we’re all living on borrowed time and you don’t feel so bad for the dead if they’ve lived a full life. You just feel for those they left behind to carry on without them.
As an older guy (72) I thank you for your comment here.
I'm only 44 but your comment strikes a loud chord with me nevertheless. You're 100% right.
62 here. Recent events have caused me to reboot my life yet I’m not sad. Just a little apprehensive. Looking forward to the near future and hanging onto and appreciating what I do have.
“Are they on meth?” “What’s wrong with them?” Apparently, you’ve never been to south Philly after midnight. And you should consider yourself lucky.
The most underrated Rocky movie in the series by far. Stallone got in crazy shape too.
Old Stallone definitely makes me inadequate physically.

Mary Cherry Fan Club: "You'll cry in every Rocky movie". Mary Cherry: "Yeah right" After watching: 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I loved Rocky Balboa, saw it in theaters back in 2006 with my Dad, who passed away in 2015. So this movie always holds a special place in my heart.
Sorry to hear that:(
r.i.p. to your dad rocky movies are the best!
Some quick tidbits. The man who was washing dishes at Adrian's is Spider Rico, the fighter that Rocky beat at the beginning of the original Rocky film. It's the same actor as well. Little Marie is in a deleted scene in Rocky 5. Rocky runs into her with a bunch of homeless people. She's portrayed by the same actress from the original Rocky film as well.
There’s so many good quotes in this film, the ‘beast inside me’ scene is so emotional, then the ‘rights’ scene and of course his speech to his son is iconic
This movie was racist. He didnt allow Spider Rico in his restaurant for work and the wise crack about Italian food cooked by Mexicans is not special. And also the wise crack about labeling Steps as a "criminal" because he's black
@@blanewalker5512 these are good points, not really relevant to what I’ve said tho
@@blanewalker5512 Movie's not racist, the character Paulie is.
It makes me want to cry when Paulie finally says, "Get the beast out for good. Please, Rocky. I love you."
Now on to the Creed films! 🥊
Ye
I watched this in theaters, and it was packed. When it got to moments just before the fight, I was so anxious and excited, it was hard to explain. But everyone in the theater was so into the movie and it's just amazing how inspirational Rocky can be, especially in his older age. Everyone reacted to each punch, and chanted ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY whenever the movie did. And just a lot of clapping and cheering. What a great movie. I'm glad you finally got to see it!
That movie is a circus aimed at morons who love it. Do you really think the commission would sanction a fight of a 60-year old with previous brain damage?
Rocky Balboa was one of the last movies I saw with my Mom, God rest her
I can remember seeing this film and also initially thinking, "Please don't have a romance with him and Marie." But in the end it was just a real connection and friendship. The kiss at first view was jarring, but then as I reflected on it, it was just a kiss for luck, nothing romantic about it. Just a fantastic movie.
Yeah, Keep telling that to yourself. You forget Rocky asked Adrian in a subtle way to come inside his apartment and then he layed the pipework. The same thing with Marie. He asked her to come inside his suite. It was late at night when she stopped by. He wanted to lay the pipework on her as well
@@blanewalker5512 Have you seen any of these movies? In the middle of this one he even says my wife is dead but she's not. Once Adrian died he wasn't single anymore. He was still married to Adrian, no one would take her place. Him asking her to come inside was him being Rocky being his genuine polite self.
If you ever get the chance, watch the deleted scene with Paulie and Rocky, it is easily the most emotional moment Paulie has, as it’s all about Adrian, and it leaves me wondering why they left it out. It actually redeems him a lot.
I love that speech Rocky gives to his son. It’s one of the best parts of the whole Rocky series. I loved this movie. It came out before streaming was a regular thing. I bought the DVD.
I remember being in high school and going with my mom on the Wednesday night this came out in 2006 and we both lost it during that epic speech he gave his son. We are both massive Rocky fans and it was such a special moment because it was the 1st Rocky I was able to see on the big screen because when Rocky V came out. I wasnt even born yet. I remember in 1998 I was 6 and coming back from playing baseball, was watching HBO and they started showing the whole series 1-5. I was glued to the TV all day. Hadn't even changed from my baseball uniform until Rocky V was over because I didnt want to miss a moment. My mom was eating it up because they were her favorite movies as well and she had never heard me so quite in her life while these movies were playing. Stallone is my Idol.
That speech was a giant pile of 💩

There's actually a deleted scene from this movie where Paulie says exactly the same thing you said about him not being dead and it's heartbreaking
Nah, you talking about the robot scene they took out
There is a deleted scene right after Paulie says he's "retiring" that gives a lot of context into his depression and how he really felt about his sister. Extremely emotional.
It was speculated how Rocky could’ve passed his tests in order to get a license to box. The answer was somewhat obvious: when he was diagnosed in Rocky V, he never got a 2nd opinion. He just took the advice of the doctors and respected Adrian’s wishes. Had he gotten diagnosed from another doctor, they might’ve said he could’ve fought. But I think it was out of love for Adrian he just accepted his results.
That and advances in medicine between then and 2006.
Accept the film plays on that trauma all though the film. Lets admit it, his injuries disappear when the plot requires it. Like the fact he should be almost blind in one eye.
It is also possible that the condition could heal, just that it would take 10 or 20 years. That length of time meant that his boxing career at that time was over. In Rocky 5 he was in his mid to late 30s, so a 10+ year healing would mean his fighting career was over at that point.
He had a severe concussion not brain damage. Happened to a lot of boxers back in the day.
In Rocky 5 the doctors told him that he suffered severe trauma to the head resulting in brain damage, and that the effects were irrversible
I think this might be the ONLY movie I ever saw in theaters that made me cry. That whole beginning finding out Adriene died (and Rocky coming to see her long after she died proving what he said in all the previous films that she's NEVER getting rid of him) and Paulie finally admitting he treated her poorly and that he deeply regrets it and hates himself for it was just brutal, but Rocky's speech to Rocky Jr just about killed me. When I was younger I didn't have my head screwed on right for a time and my Dad basically gave me the same speech with the same mannerisms and tone of voice so when Rocky said all that I FELT that.
Glad you finally watched this one. I hope the movie will grow on you more. The shock for the creative decisions in this movie is understandable, but I think those decisions are what make this film a brave and timeless entry. Rocky’s love for Adrian is underscored in this story❤️
We are all so proud of you finishing the Rocky series! You are awesome! Now on to the Creeds ❤
At the time this happened, a lot of well-known characters (Indiana Jones, John McClane, etc.) were making a comeback. This was released just in time for the 30th Anniversary. A whole new resurgence for Sly Stallone as an actor & filmmaker. Proving why he is the legend that he is. It took 3 years to write the script for part 6. To catch the flavor of the 1976 original. In his late 50s-Early 60s, Sly was practically living in the gym. Raising his physique to unbelievable levels. The best shape of his life. Balboa vs. Dixon fight was the first thing they filmed in Mandalay Bay and to be as real as possible. Rocky's character has endured for so long and still stays humble. The speech to Rocky Jr. is the best dialogue of the film and that will always be remembered. Just as Lil' Marie said "The last thing to age is the heart". A worthy finale for the character's journey. Your gonna love the Creed Saga. With Sly Stallone as one of the producers. Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut in Creed 3. RIP to Tony Burton (Duke Evers Sr.)
Can’t wait for Creed
I remember a heavy weight champion quite after a loss around 30 , and after 20 years he decided to fight again and won and became champion again. In his 50s , George foreman.
Foreman was 45 not 50..Rocky was in his 60"s when he made a comback. Very unrealistic
@@blanewalker5512 You know what else is unrealistic? A world champion giving a random guy off the street a shot at the title. Realism isn't always more important than the story itself.
@@blanewalker5512 Tom Brady winning Super Bowls in his 40s. 👋
@@blanewalker5512 45 or 50 is unrealistic as well , its exceptional. But tbe exeption doesn't disprove the rule , but fighters or major athletes dont go past their 30s . Id argue Stallone was in better physical condition than forman who didn't train or eat well . ( cheeseburger diet) although i don't think Formans fights went the distance. But it was an exhibition fight. If we were being completely realistic many of the previous fights would have been ended by the ref , i remember early in one of the fights he went down 3 times in a single round. ,tko rocky loses .
And George sold Millions of Foreman Grills. Everybody just fell in love with Foreman when he came out of retirement. It was the 1990s and George had lost his title in '74 when Muhammad Ali TKOed him in Zaire. Him winning the title again in 1994 was unreal. He had gotten back into boxing, I recall, to raise money for his Church.
The most important inspiration speech come from this movie and I think everyone takes to ♥
It was a joy to watch you immerse yourself in this series. I cried with you and really enjoyed the film as if I'd never seen it before.
"it ain't about how hard you hit , it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward" ... all is said !
Yeah facts. That's what makes you who you become.
"If I say something, nobody believes it. But if Rocky says it, it's true." - Sylvester Stallone
I think maybe it's an age thing. This movie is deeply important to me. I'm 50 and the message about picking up when you feel you've lost it all is so powerful. The world feels like it's passing you by. The challenge is to find a reason to keep going and as he said, to keep moving forward. As the movie says, Mary Cherry, "You'll get there."
Probably my 2nd favorite Rocky movie in which Stallone's love of the character just shines.
I saw all your Rocky Reactions and it has been the most heartfelt/adorable reactions I've seen,I'm glad you enjoyed the franchise
I loved how they got some of the actors, from the first film, to reprise their original roles. Not only is Marie in this but the one of the guy's working for Rocky, is Spider Rico. Even the turtles came back!
Rocky gives one of the most memorable speeches in movie history about Life and Winning always love that speech
That's not a good speech. I'll give you a real speech by a real person, and perhaps the greatest leader of all time. "The law is whatever I write on a piece of paper"- Saddam Hussein
The face you made when you saw Adrian died was fantastic.
Yet another great reaction! I really think everyone needs a Mary in their life. 👍🏼
Spider Rico was in Rocky 1 too. It’s cool they brought him back for part 6.
They didn't have to bring that fool back. He lucky he ain't got dealt with
In the grand scheme of the "Rocky" movies, "Rocky Balboa" tends to be either underrated, or flat-out forgotten. It's a shame really, because for me I think "Balboa" overall is my second-favorite of the first six "Rocky" movies. It successfully brings back the tone of the first movie, and despite the somewhat absurd premise, conceivably makes Rocky an underdog both in AND out of the ring. It's emotional in all the right ways, and shows how far Rocky as a character has come. The story and tone benefit from Stallone's personal life experiences up to that point, and it shows. It definitely serves as a fitting conclusion to this stretch of movies focusing on solely on Rocky's life. Definitely move on to the "Creed" films afterwards!
Yeah, this is an unfortunate side-effect of the success of the Creed films. They're so damned good that it made people kind of forget about this one, which is *at least* on par with Creed II.
@@shaunandrews1151 Even before the "Creed" movies came out, you'd really be hard-pressed to find people who appreciated "Rocky Balboa". Everyone always still talks about the first one, or 3 & 4.
It's the best one for me. It's all the experiences hes been through being used to teach. "How hard you can get hit" is the best speech in any movie I've seen because it's entirely true. That's what builds you into the person you become.
Omg I’ve been waiting for this reaction!!
Love the closing credits. Always stay til the end!!!
When "Little Marie" brings him the picture of Adrienne and gives him a kiss, it's on the cheek. It's a very sweet gesture.
Before you get mad, both Stallone and Talia Shire discussed her role in the film and both agreed that dramatically, thematically, and narratively it would have been a stronger case to have her be dead. It wasn't that she was denied a role. Much respect was given.
That's not the original script. I read an article from Syfi magazine that explains in depth how Adrian really dies. It states that the robot from Rocky 4 was having an affair with Adrian, and in a bizarre sex scene the robot accidently electrocutes Adrian and the robot. Killing them both. The robot refused to wear a rubber and decided to go raw, inadvertently killing them both. And not that it matters, but it also causes a power outage in the whole neighborhood
Love "The speech"! "It's about keep moving forward".
Regret is a hell of a thing. That speach at the demolished skating rink from Paulie was absolutely heart breaking.
Been waiting for you to do this one
At 18:20, I think the two guys are saying that Rocky would in fact beat Mason when Rocky was in his prime.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
I'll be waiting for the Mary cherry boxing training video 😊
This was followed up with the Creed films. There's an alternate ending that has Rocky win his fight with Mason Dixon. This and Rambo helped resurrect Sylvester Stallone's career. An unrelated boxing film also starring Sylvester Stallone worth watching is Grudge Match
The promoters were suggesting that Rocky in his prime would beat Dixon easily when they said, "He'd kill him". (ie. they didn't have faith in their own fighter) Look at Tyson Fury, he doesn't have a ripped body but he's still undefeated. The more aesthetic muscles you have, the quicker you're going to end up tired out whether it's in boxing or MMA.
I love the fact that it was Spider Rico in the restaurant, doing the dishes, the same Spider Rico that he was fighting at the beginning of the first film.
Great movie and vídeo, Very emocional 😢 ! Tanks, congrats from Brazil 🇧🇷👏.
The speech he gave to his son got me in the feels
That speech was 💩
The relationship with Marie took me a bit by surprise as well when I first watched it. I thought they were trying to give Rocky another love interest but it just felt wrong. But their relationship is just as friends and the kiss definitely was odd. Would have been better on the cheek. But she was there for him to talk to and be a sounding board for his thoughts and fears when his son wasn't. That speech he gave his son is SO emotional and brings me to tears every time I hear it. I even got a shirt with the line 'It's not how hard you get hit, it's how much you can take and keep moving forward.' Great advice to live by.
It must have been a different version cuz when I first saw it he said to her at this scene his wife is gone but hes still married. I think they just experimented with different sub plots and this version they showed that one.
This one is so sad love the video Mary stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way

This was my first Rocky movie!
I'm just curious as to how not showing Adrian's death is being disrespectful. If anything, it is very respectful to the fans that didn't have to see her suffer from an illness.
She had an affair with Tommy Gunn and died of aids
Different people, different opinions about an actor or a character having an onscreen death. "He doesn't get the respect of having an onscreen death." In an article about The Godfather III (latest version) or Sopranos end episode. Respect is a very varied thing, for the lack of a better word in my vocabulary.
i think if they made the movie about adrian passing away it would have left little room for anything else, i dont know how they could do it justice and still be a rocky movie - this movie fights for the best in the franchise to me, there was a lot of life lessons and motivational moments and speeches and heart, loved this one

This one was definitely deep and even shows that Rocky still has that fight in him. But the follow-up/spinoff Creed does make things interesting.
Oh man, I remember getting emotional about this movie in the theater. It's all about heart, more or less. The post fight scene as they leave the arena wasn't scripted. As mentioned by others this was a real fight crowd (filmed before a real heavyweight championship fight) and their chanting was genuine. Mary, you might be interested to know that the fight commentators, the referee, and the announcer were the real crew from HBO Sports that called many fights over the years that were live on the channel.
Yes, and that gave these later films a great note of realism. Also: Rocky's opponent, "Mason Dixon," was played by Antonio Tarver. He doesn't look like a heavyweight, but he was Heavy Champion for a few years after knocking out Roy Jones Jr., who was considered the pound-for-pound greatest fighter on earth.

Losing a dad was very hard, don't get me wrong, but your significant other...That has to be like losing more than, or your whole heart and soul. And that speech from Rocky to his son...Absolutely amazing, and something EVERYONE needs to hear and understand. Stallone said Adrian dying and not being there was the only way he could see Rocky stepping back into the ring. If Adrian was there by Rockys side he would have been content growing old and there would have been no reason to feel the need to step back in the ring.
They filmed both Rocky winning and losing. I'm not sure how they chose which...probably because this one (Losing) is more believable but still sent Rocky out as a champion.
I forgot about this one I have to watch this one again
@4:25 yes you are, you have in every single rocky movies so far. Lets keep the streak going. Your can do it I believe in you.
You have to look at it in context of how Much time was between 5 and 6. The off screen death wasn’t as jarring because in real life so much time passed between us watching the films. You only feel this way because you are binging them. I thought the death gave it another added level of depth.
I think I speak for all Rocky fans when I say that we were all devastated at the start of this movie with the revelation of Adrian’s passing. It’s still such a good movie, though. Sure, I found all the Lil Marie scenes to be very sweet but also very awkward because yeah, we miss Adrian!
