  • This was the best 1-0 game I've ever seen. So many great plays and cool moments. Berrios pitches great but gets no run support and that was cool to see the rookie E-Strand just demolish that ball for the walkoff win!

    • I know you were told to “zip it”, but I say bring it. It doesn’t matter if Biggio has been great the past month or so…the mere fact he was the best candidate for clean up really demonstrates how poorly the Jays are on the offensive side of things. They make average pitchers look like any Young candidates on most nights. I can’t recall it ever be this bad offensively and feels like they’re squandering a season with excellent pitching.

    • Infield fly rule only comes into effect when there are runners on 1st and 2nd to prevent dropped pop-ups leading to force outs at 3rd and 2nd. With only a runner on first the only thing changed with a dropped pop-up is a different runner, unless the batter is an utter fool and doesn't run it out.

    • On a pop up like this, the batter has enough time to get to first base before the ball is caught or dropped. The runner should stay close to first. If the ball is caught, the runner goes back. If dropped, the runner gets forced out at second. Either way, only 1 out. At 6:40 the batter was barely walking toward first slowly so the Jays had the chance to get both out.

    • Thanks for the replies. I had to go educate myself and now see it doesn’t apply because there’s only one base runner. That being said the rule is supposed to protect the base runners and it’s clear in this case the infielder’s actions were intentional to take advantage of the runner for an easy double play.
