Much more than just "Catholics vs. Protestants," it was actually political and social factors that fueled the Thirty Years' War. Learning about the devastation and the long-term impact on Europe puts things into perspective. The use of maps and timelines in the video was very helpful in understanding the different stages. This video made me think about how religious differences can be used to justify violence, and the importance of tolerance and understanding.

And the evil one uses religion to control those who don’t want to be immoral. The Catholic Church even got destroyed the first time because the people actually opened their Bible and seen what they were pushing and teaching weren’t aligned with Jesus. The one the claim to follow. So those who actually followed Christ, all throughout history, has always been targeted by those who say “conform or die” and the Catholics are no different than any other crooked group in history. Following God and the e actually truth and you will be hated by this world but pretend to follow God and do evil and the world will accept you.
and God didn't even bother to intervene.

The Thirty Years' War is thought to have claimed between 4 and 12 million lives. Around 450,000 people died in combat. Disease and famine took the lion's share of the death toll. Estimates suggest that 20% of Europe's people perished, with some areas seeing their population fall by as much as 60%.
