This week we travel down to Piñas Bay, Panama and spend a week fishing the remote coastline around Tropic Star Lodge. Tropic Star has been operating since 1963 and is world renowned as a bucket list destination for fisherman around the world. We spent a lot of our time slow trolling giant baits along the nearshore reefs and beaches for species such as rooster-fish and cubera snapper.

  • Love Tropic Star. I've been there once in 2017 and it is heaven on Earth. Best fishing I've experienced and great people. Loved our captain and mate and the management is top notch. Beautiful facility and amazing food as well.

  • Victor, Great video, as always. I also have a tip for you that someone passed down to me years ago. You'll actually land a lot more of the fish that hit you're lure if you get rid of the treble hooks. I didn't believe it when I was told about it years ago either, but it really works. If you remove the treble hooks and, instead, install an appropriately sized circle hook attached to a small ball bearing swivel you will pull in a lot more fish. A treble hook is a lot more easy for a fish to shake than a circle hook, because treble hooks never set quite as well as a circle hook or quality J-hook. And with the swivel allowing the hook to twist with the fish, it is much harder for them to shake. Trust me. Just try it out on one or two lures and see how it goes. Keep making the great content.

    • This is true and the landing rate is amazing . I used trebles for the first 15yrs and single for the last 40yrs and almost all hooked are landed but I run single feathered stingers
