Scotland’s bid for World Cup Qualification began with a dramatic 2-2 draw with Austria. Sasa Kalajdzic scored twice for the visitors, but goals from Grant Hanley and a superb overhead kick from John McGinn saw Scotland twice fight back.

we actually played very well. feel like scotland is always looked down upon but in reality we have great talent we just fail to execute it sometimes. lets hope we show the world cup teams what sort of fire we can bring.

In the circumstances it was a good result as they came from behind twice. In terms of qualification it's not a good result as we need to win all our home games.

Scotland should have had a penalty, Austria goal by Klasinac should have been allowed, McGin goal as well as Klasinac 2nd goal were amazing. All in all, an even game and fair result.

Really enjoyed that performance. It showed maturity. With slightly better decision making it could have been more than one goal as well. It is not often that Austria is restricted to so few chances in a match at home, so Scotland must be doing something right, and when McTominay is back in, the engine room get's even more powerful.

Referee was an absolute blind man. How he didn't see the clear elbowing of the ball in the build up to Austria's first decent shot or the "complete circumvention" of Christie's waist by the Austrian defender, or else see it and think that's a legal defensive technique, is beyond me. Stuart Armstrong needs a personal sports psychologist. His percentage of poor quality shots from good positions is a source of frustration for me. He is almost a great player for club and country but he seems to bottle it when a chance presents itself. That 2nd Austria goal was a brilliant header. Think the Scottish defender stuck the nut on him when he was sticking the nut on the ball. Brilliant improvisation from McGinn, knew exactly where the goal was and what it would take. Tragic to have both Tierney and Robertson as left footed defenders who typically exploit the same space on the park. Like we had a talent surplus. I think I can see why Austria have improved. A significant number of -itches in the team bringing up their quality. Balkan players are always a good addition. In all honesty, Scotland had the better of it and deserved a penalty. The Austrian striker's second goal was something you can't account for. Amazing to see Scotland looking like more than the sum of the parts.
