Met Police 'got it wrong' after force threatened to arrest 'openly Jewish' man - energy secretary
Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho says the Metropolitan Police "got it wrong" after an antisemitism campaigner was called "openly Jewish" by an officer and threatened with arrest for trying to cross a pro-Palestinian march in London.
She also "completely" rejects the suggestion that the government has abandoned hope of getting to net zero by 2050.

The police officer was just advising the Jewish gentleman not to provoke the marchers...if a shirt wearing Arsenal fan was about to walk into a group of Spurs fans...the same advice would be appropriate...
But this argument is apparently about Israel and Hamas (the legal government of the Palestinians in Gaza but NOT the legal government of the third state in the West Bank, which is the PLO). Why should this affect UK Jews and Muslims who are not Palestinian or Israeli?

Agreed. Just imagine an EDL march, and a Muslim man insisted on walking through the centre of the demonstration. Should the police allow him to? Or would it be prudent of them to dissuade him from doing so? I guess the police could divert their resources to protect him from potential harm, as he walked through. But would that be the best use of limited police resources? That man came out looking for drama and got it.
